Great Mid-Century Server/ Buffet/ Sideboard. This is a vintage piece from the 1950s. It is a bit of a transitional piece, it mixes traditional 40s/ 50s details(fluted front columns) with modern elements, seen in the thicker top, and hardware. There are two side cabinets and two large drawers. The top drawer has a sliding tray. Solid wood construction and original hardware. This piece is in great condition. We have painted the base of this piece in Cottage White and finished with a hand rubbing and a slight distressing to the edges. The top has been refinished in a dark espresso and sealed with several coats of polyurethane. The inside of the drawers are cleaned and then sealed with a coat of shellac. Spectacular& rare customized antique side table Check out the stunning gorgeous walnut flame/burl grains on the top.incredible beauty which was hidden under a failed opaque finish I restored this table using my own special black distressed hand rubbed finish.The entire finish was hand restored including hand scraping& sanding the top. By design. I left nicks, dings, veneer chips, and character marks in the wood prior to restoration. You can see the beautiful chestnut colors show through the hand rub distressed black finish. I sealed the black with hand rubbed varnish as a glaze to provide a special depth and beauty. The table dates from Circa 1920.the Kiel company operated their second plant in Milwaukee. The entire leg/stretcher rail assembly was carefully taken apart and restored by gluing/clamping and screwing everything in place making it non-removable, the table is now rock solid, it was very wiggly-jiggly prior to restoration. There was no need for the sides/legs to be removable, so I chose to make it much more solid I love the original trim around the edges of the top. It has great details The top is made from a 4 way book-matched(4 pieces of veneer book-matched together)walnut burl veneer.I meticulously hand rubbed 10 coats of varnish to achieve the incredible luster and depth which showcases the walnut wood.there are small natural cracks& a few tiny dings in the center of the top burled area.all character is consistent with its age. That is what makes it a beautiful antique The medallions on the ends. Sides& legs are made from Bakelite(original resin) or Bakelite type material. The medallions have some cracks and a few medallions have cracks& small pieces missing. Here is an absolutely gorgeous late 19th century Scottish mahogany sideboard with shield back decorative mantle and lovely doors. Top surface and side panels. This wonderful circa 1870-1880's Victorian buffet has ample storage with it's three large drawers and open cabinet space below, including fittings for several additional drawers in the far left cabinet as shown. Recently imported from the UK through Edinburgh, Scotland this terrific oversize mahogany cabinet is a real find, particularly in such nice original condition. This sideboard stands 69 inches wide by 26 1/2 inches front to back. Measuring 50 inches tall to the top of the removable mantle with carved shield back wood decorative and with a work surface height of 38 3/4 inches tall. The two large outer drawers are each 16 1/2 inches wide by 20 1/2 inches front to back by ... more2 inches deep while the center drawer is 27 inches wide by 19 1/2 inches front to back by 2 inches deep. The two outer lower cabinet offer space behind the lovely doors 17 1/4 inches wide by 26 inches tall. On the far left there are two shelves within their fittings, each 16 1/2 wide by 19 1/2 inches front to back by 3 1/2 inches deep, with about 15 inches tall by 20 inches front to back open space below. On the right side, this space is simply divided in two by one fixed shelf that creates space 14 1/4 inch wide by 20 inches front to back with 11 inches clearance above the shelf and 14 1/2 inches clearance below the shelf above the base of the cabinet. The interior of the large central cabinet with it's lovely paneled back is 28 inches wide by 18 inches front to back and also 26 inches tall, with one removable shelf which can be used to divide the cabinet space or not. I am not sure if this is Edwardian or much later from the 1950's or 1960's, I suspect the latter. It has a serpentine front and top shape& is supported on six slender legs. Four at the front, two at the back. The top is cross-banded and has tramline edging. It has inlaid detailing around the top and the cupboard and drawer fronts. The sideboard consists of two central drawers flanked on either side by a single-door cupboard. Each with a removable wooden shelf inside. Circa 1960 Yew wood Locking doors with one key Repaired foot Darker circles to top Light surface scratches and dings Sturdy. Good overall condition, Yew wood is an indigenous wood to England. Where this buffet or console was made making full use of the beautiful grain and color that yew wood has. This antique style console is the perfect size for a variety of uses including as a dining room piece or to go under a TV and house TV peripherals. With three drawers and three locking cabinets, there is plenty of storage space in this yew ... morewood buffet. Each cabinet door houses one shelf that has three different height adjustments. The piece sits up on bracket feet, which makes it appear less blocky and more airy. We figure it was made around 1960 or so. You will notice from the pictures that there are two circles of darker color on the top. This is probably where two lamps or large hurricanes sat and kept the light from hitting the top of the sideboard in those areas. This meant that the wood underneath did not patinate like the rest of the wood. The front left bracket foot has been broken and repaired. The repair is strong but visible. There are also very light surface scratches to the top. They are hard to see unless you have the right kind of light which is why we took a picture of the top with a glare on it to highlight those marks. There are a few dings around the mouldings as well. But overall this is a very sturdy and good condition piece of yew wood furniture that will serve any home or office well for years to come!
