Circa 1960 Mahogany with gorgeous inlays Distressing to top Locking doors and drawer Sturdy. Excellent condition, This lovely serpentine sideboard was originally crafted in England around 1960. The wood is a brilliant mahogany which has developed a rich patina over the years. It boasts a lovely grain with some very impressive lighter tones. The mahogany is also complimented by satinwood string inlay. Mahogany cross banding, and a Georgian style satinwood fan inlay. These inlays are present on the top, cabinet doors and upper drawer. The central inlay on the top is by far the most impressive. Each of the cabinets of this sideboard features working locks and the right cabinet has a removable wooden shelf. The upper central drawer also has a working lock. And the piece comes with one key. The hardware on the drawer and cabinets is solid brass that also goes with the mahogany quite well. The six legs of this sideboard are all square and tapered, and have spade feet. Overall. The condition of this piece is excellent. There are slight, dark marks to the top which appear to be intentional distressing done by the maker. The beautify of the mahogany wood combined with the serpentine shape and well used inlay is what really draws your eye, making this sideboard an excellent piece for an area where you want people to really see it. For example it would work well not only in a dining room, but also in a foyer, or often traveled hallway. There are two pull-out draw er s in the center of the piece and a longer. More narrow drawer across the bo ttom. On either side of the side board are two large c abinet doors that pull out with a curved class top and wood bottom. There are shelves with in. There is some de corative wood beading running vertically at the center and within the c urved glass(note that one is not attached as seen in pictures but it is in the drawer to be re-attached by new owner) Similar beading runs along the edge of the mirror. Demilune bas d' armoire in the French Louis XVI style has a warm, reddish brown patina, and is crafted from mahogany with rosewood or kingwood. Its clean lines will compliment a wide variety of decors, including neoclassical, English Georgian and French empire. It features a rouge marble top, crosshatch parquetry inlay, and neoclassical gilt bronze mounts including lion and goddess masks, rosettes, reed-and-tie molding, and shell and scrolling foliate motifs. This elegant English sideboard is made of walnut and is in original finish. It is hand carved with grapes and leaves and has dovetail construction. This is a quality. Well built piece of furniture. The mirror is beveled and has intact silver and the brass hardware is original. There are 3 drawers with 2 doors on either side. One door houses 2 pullouts and the other has shelves. As far as condition there are age crack in the op which I have shown in detailed pictures. There is a crack on one side. Also pictured. At the back where the mirror rests there is minor damage. The cracks have appears because of the width of the wood. Boards that wide have a tendency to split. The measurements are: 80" overall height. The base is 36" high. 22-1/2" deep and 62" wide. This is one of 2 matching console side table cabinets that I have. They are both the same with slight differences which I have noted in each listing. Each piece is listed separately. It has a bow front with one curved drawer in the center that has 2 round decorative ring handles and there are 2 compartments with curved doors on either side. Antique Berkey and Gay Walnut Sideboard Buffet Server Hand Carved/Painted 1920's
Demilune or half-round shaped. This beautiful console table is signed by famous maker, Berkey and Gay. Useful in a hall, dining room or foyer, the top has a sunburst pattern in walnut burl, accented with curly elm burl and ebony banding. Classical hand-painted motifs are original. Actually a graceful ellipse or"eyebrow" shape. There is a carved finial in the trestle base. The center carved panel is a drawer front with dovetailed joinery and a removable caddy. Solid walnut. Hand carved high relief panels, moldings and three dimensional lion paw feet are masterfully detailed in solid walnut. This furniture from a palazzo in the north of Italy has a lustrous finish with warm patina. In excellent condition with minor mars at the edges for character. Deep moldings have bold proportions.
