Curlicues and griffins on the doors. Doors flanked by two fluted columns. Rouge/red marble. This piece is in excellent condition for its age. Bronze handles. This piece probably had a structure or shelf on top of it as there are 2 small holes in the marble signifying something was there. However. This is made for a narrow or smaller spoon like a fruit spoon, 5 o clock, dessert or coffee size and some of the wider more modern style spoons will not fit. This is marked K.S. Co. with Knickerbocker logo, it has tarnish, some wear is seen on the inside. It measures about 8" handle to handle(one seems slightly bent) and 2 1/4" high on the sides. Demilune or half-round shaped. This beautiful console table is signed by famous maker, Berkey and Gay. Useful in a hall, dining room or foyer, the top has a sunburst pattern in walnut burl, accented with curly elm burl and ebony banding. Classical hand-painted motifs are original. Actually a graceful ellipse or"eyebrow" shape. There is a carved finial in the trestle base. The center carved panel is a drawer front with dovetailed joinery and a removable caddy. Solid walnut.
