I know it is built with square blacksmith nails as some of these are leftover from my reconstruction of the back of the buffet(see below) The top was probably covered with linoleum tiles that were removed. It has not been repaired. Except the back of the buffet made in tongue and grove oak planks had been dismantled. When I reassembled it. They did not fit exactly where they should have gone and over the lenght of the buffet. It ha s shrunk by about 3/4 of an inch to one inch(0n the right looking at the back) The leftmost ... moreglass door was professionally redone as it was warped so much I was afraid some of the glass parts would fall off. It was repaired by a stained-glass repair shop. With new piping, and some(2-3) parts replaced. Otherwise, it has been left as is. The other doors have been left as is, and should be reworked to fix the"waviness" in the glass panels. It is a large buffet. 108 inches(9ft) long, 60 inches(5ft) high and 24 inches(2ft) deep(approximative measures) It may weight around 175-200 pounds or more. This is a large. Heavy and bulky item. It is in good condition except it has a small crack in the small center door and would be easy to replace. Tiger Oak Buffet With Lions Heads, Reduced Again (For the last time)
Up for auction is this awesome solid tiger oak buffet in excellent original finish. The mirror supports are graced with fearsome lions heads as are the front legs which taper down into paw feet. I has all the original hardware as well as the beveled glass mirror. There is some rippling on the side panels which is hard to notice unless you get up close and personal. There is also a repair on the third middle drawer. None of these minor flaws affect the overall grace and value of this stunning piece. Additional picturea are available upon request. 1880 French Renaissance Louis XV. Profusely Carved Quarter-Oak Sideboard/Buffet. It has a very decorative pierced gallery with finials on each end. The top center has a heavily carved crown. The Sideboard/Buffet is made in three main sections. The base with two drawers and two doors with one interior. Removable shelf measures: 55" wide x 21 1/2" deep x 39" tall. The next section supports the top section with two columns and provides a decorative pierced plate rail. It measures: 16" tall x 12" deep. The plate rail is 4" deep with a 2" opening for plates. The third(top section) measures: 51" wide x 41" tall x 13 1/2" deep. It has 3 profusely carved doors. The center door appears to have been carved from one piece of wood and represents a man on a horse with a trumpet chasing a deer. The two ... moreside doors have applied carving that represents scrolls and flowers. The top section has two adjustable shelves. It needs to be stripped and refinished. It is very sturdy. I see a line on each side. A small piece of wood missing between the 2 small drawers and the top is a little loose. When I got this piece the leg was not attached. I sanded it and nailed it into place. There was no break there. I also waxed the doors and drawers so everything opens and closes nicely. A solid oak refectory table with end supports joined by a stretcher. This table was crafted between the 1920's and 1930's with the original finish. There are two drop down leaves on either side of the table. There are six chairs with one being an arm chair. All chairs are solid with tight joints.
