These piece is incredible, as well as beautiful and rare and now I will describe it in detail and it's history. This elaborate buffet has been in my family since it's birth. It belonged to my great. Great, grand mother who lived in a 18,000 sf estate in St. Louis Mo. All of the furniture was handcarved and this piece belonged to a 40 piece set of dining room furniture. It is amazing to see the inside color of the oak, light, and the dark outside from age. The condition of it is unbelievable, it is so good and so sturdy, they do not make them like this anymore. The only flaws being a few scratches, and nicks, as shown in pictures. As all the drawers and cabinets have key holes to be locked. In those days the servants had sticky fingers I guess, so they were to prevent them from stealing. This was then handed down to my great grandmother, then grandmother, and then mother, and now me. Any color variations in the photos are caused by my iPhone camera. Please see the master shots. There are no variations in color at all. This is a antique buffet from 1880 to 1900. This buffet was my grandfathers. He got it some time around 1900. It has been sitting in my parents home for at least 60 years. We believe it was made in Europe. It is a massive piece of furniture. It features a total of five wood carved Griffin faces. A large beveled mirror with curved edges and a 72" by 24" table top. There are two large ornately carved winged Griffins with feet on both sides of the large beveled glass mirror. The mirror measures 57" by 21" There are three heavily carved drawers. One is completely covered with a Griffin face. And the other two are covered in floral type wood carvings. The large"main" drawer is cover ... morewith more floral type carving. What we believe to be an early 1900's dining set also believed to be quarter sawn. But I don't know enough about furniture to confirm that. Some veneer(mostly on the table base) need repair. wonderful antique quartersawn oak buffet, carved crest / mirror and twisted legs
for sale is a very nice antique solid quartersawn oak buffet made in 1904. it has a nice backspash with a carved crest and the original beveled mirror. it also features twisted legs and twisted columns as part of the back splash. it has double yoke stretcher which adds additional beauty to the piece and additional support to the legs which is really not needed i don't think. it is rock solid with no wiggles. Wobbles, loose joints, or any other issues to report that would be deemed detrimental to the buffet. it features abundant quartersawn oak flake over the entire piece. it has a long drawer across the top with dividers in it and two large drawers below it in the center and of course as you see two doors, one on either side, that expose a large storage area which has a half shelf which may be put in if desired. the i have the holder ... morepins for the shelves. all the locks are extremely clean and quite functional. the drops on the drawers are large and solid brass and are heavy since they are solid. the buffet is 60 inches wide, 39.5 inches to the top of the cabinet portion and 54.25 inches to the top of the crest of the back splash. it is 24 inches deep. it moves easily on its original metal casters. the piece is rock solid, all original with no missing parts or pieces and no repairs that is see. it is near mint condition. it matches a table i now have listed as well as a set of 6 chairs. i tried the set together with no luck, so i have busted it up and will sell the pieces separately. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck. fyi. Antique Belgian Carved Oak Buffet / Sideboard
I have owned this beautiful oak sideboard for about 10 years. It is in nice shape with the original finish. It has a few minor condition issues(see photos) Nothing serious. Measures 86 1/2 inches wide, 23 1/4 inches deep, and 51 inches tall. It is made to come apart. So it is much easier to move than it appears. My Father told me it was common for old furniture to come apart in northern Europe as stairways and doors were often narrow. The family I bought it from purchased it in the 1950's from a friend who imported antiques from Belgium. They used it as a store fixture(it has a check guarantee bank sticker on the back) and later in their home. No shipping on this item. You will need to pick it up at my house in Portland. A mission/Arts& Crafts piece in excellent condition and highly functional. Stands 52 inches high and is 4 feet by 20.5 inches in size. Striking tiger oak pieces. All original handles. The top drawer has a removable sliding tray with divisions and original velvet tray bottom in mint condition. Two small handles to lift it with. There are two small drawers on each side and then a very shallow drawer for place mats. Below that two doors and big space for storage and at the bottom a good-sized drawer for storage. The mirror is a bit foggy but original and there is one black spot on the top. Other than that beautifully maintained and cared for. High quality furniture making craft in this piece.

The locking field panel doors are flanked by chamfered pilasters with stop ends and conceal voluminous storage conveniently organised by three drawers of varying sizes in each cupboard. This beautiful rare piece is 26 1/2" tall to top of cabinet(facia is another 1 1/2" x 8" deep at the buffet level and the hutch portion is 5" at its deepest. Beautiful. Rich grain throughout, it has miniature carving on doors. Trim is detailed. Complete wood construction, as are the handles. The condition is lovely, but is commensurate with age. There are two trim bumps/chips and all four wooden feet are chipped. A very few minor'age cracks' in wood. Slight pin-holes around upper door handle. The beautifully rolled legs go all the way down the sides for a majestic appearance. Brass knobs match brass key holes on all three drawers that lock away your special things for just the right occasion. One key fits all three drawers and it IS included. That's right, we DO have the original Eagle Lock Co. key! The silverware drawer ... moreis divided into three sections and is lined with the original green velvet. Two doors open on the bottom to reveal a large storage space that is more than adequate for your finest china. Originally there was a top for the buffet but I do not have that piece, and to be quite honest I think the piece works much better with today's decor without the top. As you can see in the photos, the finish overall is nice, but it does have some nicks and chips in a few places, as can be expected with a piece that is almost 200 years old. Ornate oak buffet top featuring highly detailed griffin legs and a gargoyle. It is large and quite heavy. Overall. It is in very good condition as depicted in the pictures. It has been refinished. There is no mirror and the sides of both set of paws are missing. Also see the small area of veneer missing on the back left side. There are also oil stains on the top from lamps. The top and bottom of the mirror frame are not oak.just painted wood. There is also some damage to the tops(not visible) of the frame sides where the dowels are inserted. This is an old piece.I have tried to provide as much info as I can as to its condition. There are so many possibilities for this impressive piece. I used it as a sofa/hall table.just left off the bottom of frame. I could be made into an impressive shelf or even a mantle. Length: 70 1/2 in. Beautiful carved oak buffet. lower doors are carved and upper 2 drawers are rounded. the top looks to be an add on and not matching wood but still go nicely with the piece. The long drawer in the middle needs slight repair to the bottom of the drawer to keep it from sticking. original glass knobs are gone but easily found in antique markets.this piece was covered in multiple layers of oil paint. i stripped and stained it about 15 years ago. 24" deep. 48" wide, 55" high, and without mirror 37" high Item is for local pick up.
