Walters and as you can see in the pictures it has a patent ... moreon it for having the sliding leaves in it. the leaves slide right under the top for easy access and storage. This is believed to be the original fabric on the chairs.we removed over 5 layers of fabric and the last 2 layers were tacked on. The fabric shows minimal wear and needs a good cleaning. But we wanted to leave in its original comdition and let the new owner make that call. this set was a one owner set and we bought this from an estate sale. Table is 31in H x 38in W x 60inL(86inL with leaves) The set is almost flawless. All drawers and cabinets open with ease, no noise etc. The chairs are all in great shape except the Captains chair once had a small fracture in the back side of the arm about 2 inches, which has been fixed. A simply gorgeous late Chippendale style diminutive serpentine sideboard server/ buffet circa 1910. This is an extremely high end custom made centennial reproduction with 100 years of age. Fully veneered in bookmatched crotch mahogany and inlaid with shells and tulips; with contrasting satinwood edgebanding. It has always been kept indoors. There is absolutely no fading of the rich wood colors. It is approximately 33 inches high. 18 3/4 inches deep, and 42 inches wide, and is in excellent overall condition with the original finish intact. As you can see in the pictures a hot pan was placed on the right side at some time in the past and wrinkled the finish before being quickly removed. I would recommend the top only be refinished. We are pleased to be offering this wonderful mahogany Chippendale unusual design ball and claw sideboard that dates from the 1930s. This ... moresideboard came in and looked pretty good. But needed a few things done. We decided to go right through it and bring it back to life. We re-glued on the two bottom skirt pieces, which certainly made the look. We sanded it all down, color stained it a dark brown and sprayed applied multiple coats of satin sheen lacquer. It came out looking really nice. It has the original hardware on all the drawers and we replaced the hardware on the doors. You can't tell they were replaced, but we wanted to mention it. There is now a place where you can use the key, even though we do not guarantee the locks to work as they usually need to be cleaned and adjusted. It has a beautiful style and a lot of little things that really dress it up, like the spindle turn spindle turn molding around all the dove tail drawers(including the curved drawers) two curved doors with picture frame carving all over the top and the sideboard terminates with four delicate ball and claw feet in the front and two cut out scallop feet in the back. Circa 1959- Superior Construction Mahogany- American Vintage Modern 68" wide. 19" deep and 32" high Superior construction. Exquisite detail and uncompromising form in a Credenza Sideboard assumed produced April 1959. We had an experienced wood worker look at this and he was fairly certain it was Mahogany. We have no firm attribution on this but have noted that Charak made sideboards using identical components that are featured on this. And even similar use of break fronts with lines for Tommi Parzinger. Drexel& Baker made styles like this. We have failed to ID it. The lengths that the maker went to on this sideboard is quite indicative of the best of the era and we have been unable to ascertain the maker. Piano hinges for the middle swing doors. Brass rods to prevent the doors from over-swing. Smoothest movement of the ... moremiddle drawer. Solid shelving and flawless drawer movement. Boasts 8 drawers and a large central area with sliding hidden drawer with extreme construction designed to take very large amounts of weight. All produced from solid wood. Note the use of banded wood on the top that travels around the breakfront. Based on the brass/bronze pulls used we are fairly certain this is the work of either Charak Modern or Baker Furniture however Dunbar and Johnsons furniture both produced similar sideboards with handle pulls that very closely resemble this one. 100% vintage condition with the mildest signs of use. Reproduction Hepplewhite-style Sideboard/Buffet by Biggs Furniture 1956 Mahogany
This is a beautiful sideboard. Or buffet, made by Biggs Furniture Company and bought new in 1956. It has been in the same household that entire time in a smoke-free environment and very gently used. The mahogany construction features line inlays, working locks and two keys. It has one center drawer flanked by two bottle cabinets. One cabinet has a drawer with dividers for silver serving utentsils. The center drawer comes with a removable Gorham silver storage tray with protective cover flap. It is almost 6 feet long and measures 25" deep at the widest part and stands 38" high. The sideboard is in excellent condition and was recently appraised at a fair market value of $1800 by an antiques expert. The appraisal is available on request. This is a very unique mahogany server with intricate inlay and flamed doors and drawers. All hardware is intact and the drawer and doors all open smoothly. The top has a couple of cracks. One is severe; we will be planning to repair or replace this; if you are a purist and want it original, let me know soon. All feet have brass casters. The supports on the back are pierced mahogany. The whole sideboard is raised on cabriole supports and dates to around 1920. Size.
