Condition: Seller refurbished Location: Roanoke, United States Wonderful antique buffet sideboard. This is a true quality item! Superbly made and exceptionally heavy! Measures 72 inches across. Depth 23 inches across ... morefront marble. Mirror top to marble base. 26 inches. 46 inches from floor to marble base. Interior side shelves measure 17 inches long and 7 1/2 inches wide. 2 side doors swing out to the side. Main body interior is 16 inches deep by 48 inches long by 30 inches tall. 2 front drawers with two side drawers. Swing out to the side as shown! Solid oak everywhere! Even the drawer linings. Draw sides and back are all oak and not an inferior wood. The interior is all oak. The doors lock but I have lost the key! Currently all the doors are unlocked! Inside at the back somebody cut a hole out. Not sure why that was done but it is there! The only newish part is an interior shelf which is in the main body. I believe it is still solid oak but it lacks the patina of the original. The glass is not damaged anywhere. The marble has exquisite shading and color. With pink, grey and purple variations. It has light scratches on the top and minor tiny chips on the edge as expected for a piece this age. It is not broken anywhere! The carvings are so wonderful with urns. Horns, ribbons, roses, tassels, swags and leaves. Both front panels have cracks on the decoration as seen in the photographs. Very reluctantly for sale! It is a beautiful federal style with a wavey front and short curved legs. It bows out in the center and curves in on the sides and back out to the corners. It has 4 drawers doen the center with the top drawer having removable dividers for flatware. There are 2 doors on each side with a gorgeous brass inlay into the Mahogany wood. Above the 2 doors are 2 small drawers. This piece has lots of storage.The pulls are solid oval brass. The entire pieces is Mahogany veneer over solid wood. The drawers are dovetailed and all in good shape and glide well. It has no oders. Breaks, missing parts or repairs. There was a missing piece of veneer on the front edge which was sanded smooth. Buffet has gorgeous inlaid design on both front-side of delicate bell flowers with a drop-twist and dot feature below as well as the same golden color edge trim around top-edge. Buffet has a serpentine drawer front with a bowed locking cabinet on each side. Key is included. Buffet rolls on 4 caster wheels. Top side flatware drawers. One on each side are felt lined and divided with a removable felt cover with leather pull tabs. Buffet is marked in drawer with the Drexel(pre-Drexel Heritage) logo on one side and a satin label"Wallace Nutting Furniture Treasury" ... moreon the other. Drexel Heritage was established in or near 1968. Buffet does have many small flaws that attribute to the affordable asking price. Please note- even with flaws. Buffet displays beautifully. Has a moulded top with twin frieze drawers over two tiered shelves and is raised on beautiful scroll feet. Mahogany itself is a rich reddish brown wood that can range from being plain in appearance to something that is so vibrant. Figured and almost three dimensional in effect. Although Mahogany was most often used in its solid form. It also provided some beautifully figured varieties of veneer like‘Flame’ Mahogany and‘Fiddleback’ Mahogany(named after its preferred use in the manufacture of fine musical instruments) Cuban Mahogany was so sought after. Offering a beautiful circa 1940 bow-front mahogany sideboard or buffet with original glass top and brass pulls. This piece measures 51 1/2" long by 20" deep and is 33 7/8" high. It has three drawers across the top over three drawers down the center. With two doors/storage areas on the right and left side. There are decorated bands painted on the drawers and doors-they are not inlaid. No damage, little normal wear and tear, ready to set in the home.

The inside of the drawer bears a tag for“G.T. Rackstraw. Worcester, England. Made from fine mahogany wood, this buffet has beautiful color and an attractive look. The company G. T. Rackstraw originated in England around 1749. They specialized in making fine furniture of mahogany. Yew, and oak. Their focus was to make a high end item that would last for many ... morelifetimes. Because of their quality construction they are rarely sold, but instead handed down from generation to generation. We feel this sideboard was made around 1960. The wonderful mahogany has a splendid grain and beautiful color. Satinwood inlays and mahogany cross bands provide subtle. But necessary contrast around the doors, drawers, and top. Further enhancing the beauty of this sideboard are fluted details between the drawers and doors and down the legs. The legs themselves are tapered and end in spade feet. The cabinet doors stay closed with a spring latch and the drawers slide smoothly on wooden runners. The brass ring pulls are in great shape and are the right proportion for this size buffet. The only blemish on this bow front sideboard is a small separation in the top on the right hand side. We have pictured this in the photos. This separation is from shrinkage of the solid mahogany top that occurs when the wood breathes. This is a cosmetic phenomenon and does not affect the integrity of the top. The 36" wide cabinet is 20 1/2" deep when closed and 30 1/2" high. There are six 15" leaves-all solid mahogany-and an extra leg that can be added when all are used for support.
