We purchased it from Belgium and it is made from oak. We have professionally stripped and painted it in a lovely off white french grey farrow and ball paint. Rubbed over the edges and waxed it giving it a stunning patina. It would look well in an old or modern property amongst similar painted furniture almost in any downstairs room. The sideboard stands on small queen ann style cabriole feet supporting the main section where there is a carved frill to the bottom. There are two large doors eitherside of an open section and a shelf with two drawers to the bottom. The doors are beautifully shaped with a carving to the top. To the centre there is the open section with bow fronted drawers to the bottom. We have left the key escutcheons in their natural iron work so they contrast beautifully with the paint. The top has a rounded bull nosed edge and we have left this natural with a parque top. The height is 102cm. The width is 140cm and the depth is 54cm. Walnut server made by"Kroehler" around the middle of the ... moreprevious century. It is a single unit; the top and bottom halves do not separate. The lower half has a 2-door cabinet and 3 drawers. The upper half has a single door cabinet, another cabinet with 2 sliding glass doors, and 3 drawers. I think the round drawer pulls are original, and the door pulls are replacements. There is an adjustable shelf in both upper cabinets. The shelf in the glass door cabinet has a groove running from side to side. To allow you to stand your China. Unfortunately, we only have 3 of the shelf pins to hold the shelves in place; more could be purchased at a hardware store. The upper 3 drawers are lined with black felt, and have a wooden divider in the middle running from front to back for utensils. Restoration: This piece was salvaged from an affluent home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. When we found it. The finish was faded by sunlight and the wood was dry. Since then. We've oiled the piece several times to re-moisturize the wood and bring out the original beauty of the finish. We cleaned the glass doors and the hardware. We also tightened all screws from top to bottom, and now it's frame is tight and sturdy. The finish. For the most part is in very good condition. However, there are a few spots where the finish is in fair condition(i.e. the top of the lower cabinet and the sides) I personally look at it as a unique characteristic that provides insight into the server's past, and also as the character marks that distinguish it from any other piece like it.
