Demilune bas d' armoire in ... morethe French Louis XVI style has a warm, reddish brown patina, and is crafted from mahogany with rosewood or kingwood. Its clean lines will compliment a wide variety of decors, including neoclassical, English Georgian and French empire. It features a rouge marble top, crosshatch parquetry inlay, and neoclassical gilt bronze mounts including lion and goddess masks, rosettes, reed-and-tie molding, and shell and scrolling foliate motifs. It measures 46" wide, 50.25" tall and 18" deep. Interior measures 40.5" wide and 30" high, and is fitted with notched sides to accomodate two, original adjustable shelves. This cabinet dates from circa 1900. The rear panel is pierced with a handful of holes created to accomodate television and stereo cords. Each panel has a handful or more noticeable scuffs and chips to the parquetry, and the side panels appear to have been relacquered because these damages are not noticeable by touch. Each center door has a single stress crack. There are other minor chips here and there, and the gilt bronze molding on the left corner has separated from the frame. There is a short top shelf above the backsplash mirror. The mirror appears to be original and it does have some slight fogging and freckling. The backsplash mirror is beveled and flanked by“S” corbels supporting the upper shelf. The base has 4 drawers and 2 doors all with wood knob pulls. The two top drawers are bow front. The drawer on the left is lined with faded green velvet and divided into 3 sections. The drawers all have dovetail construction and glide in and out easily. The doors hide open storage. Casters sit beneath the large curved Empire style feet on all 4 legs. This piece does have some nicks and scuffs from the years however it is in overall great condition. I do not know the maker or exact date it was made. This piece is antique and will not be perfect. This buffet measures 55 1/8 inches tall. 61 ¾ inches side to side and 25 3/8 inches front to back. The top board has a fine stripped mahogany veneer. The sides are solid mahogany boards. There are four large carved paw feet on front case. The case columns are full round solid mahogany. Three drawers are on top, both side drawers line in velvet for flatware, the center drawer with mahogany interior. Below aretwo side compartments with shelf, the interior light finished mahogany. This Early Empire sideboard or server is rare. And the combination of woods is striking in appearance. The piece was made in the South, and located in the state of Tennessee. The top is composed of tiger maple, the center drawers are birds eye maple veneer, the drawer fronts are walnut, the doors are mahogany veneer. The back splash is of the original painted striped design. The sides have a cherry wash. The knobs are opaque glass. The secondary woods are poplar and pine. The bottom drawer is for wine storage. The patina of the woods is beautiful. It would be outstanding as a sideboard or server in the dining room, breakfast area, library, etc.

The front has two carved half round acanthus leaf columns with capitols, the front legs carved as paw feet. There are two top drawers with flame mahogany veneers, mahogany knobs. One drawer is velver lined for flatware. The drawer interiors are maple, the bottoms chamfered. The doors below are veneer fronted, and open to a divided compartment with one stationary shelf( shelf to left side missing. The top is one solid mahogany board, a horizontal crack long its middle. This period 19th century sideboard features period dovetail joinery on the drawers and the drawer bottoms, doors and back are also chamfered. The ornate brass pulls may not be original but are definitely period antique ones and the floral details on the pulls are beautiful. A beautiful Honduran mahogany buffet/sideboard made by the Grand Rapids Chair Company. My parents bought this in 1957 at an estate sale. They refinished to lighten the color and show the grain of the wood in polyurethane. Top drawer and the two side doors can lock with the original key provided. The back rail was removed and not refinished(as seen in one of the pictures) The rail mounts with provided holes and pegs. Ample storage in dovetailed drawers and cupboard spaces. Buffet is 72" long by 26.25" by 37"tall. All 3 drawers are 31" long by 20" then vary in depth ranging from 5.25" on top drawer to 7" on bottom drawer. Antique American Made Empire Walnut Sideboard Buffet Server. 1830's-1840's.
The sideboard is from the Early Empire period. And was hand made. The primary wood is walnut, with secondary wood of southern pine. It is from the 1830's- 1840's, and was made in the South. It came from the estate of the Hendrix family in Bowman, Georgia. The top, legs and balusters are beautifully carved of solid walnut. The joints are intricately dove-tailed together by hand. The drawers and doors are walnut veneers over pine. It measures 44"50" in height, 60" in length, and 21"23" in depth. With its classic design and beautiful luster, the sideboard or server would be outstanding in traditional or modern settings. Shipping can be arranged. With seller paying packing and insurance.

Its sweet right down to the original divided drawer, original wooden pulls, finish and surface, It has a few tiny veneer losses which we will have our man address very nicely. These all do and its just the nature of the beast. We took very good pictures of this and your zoom browser can lock onto to every inch. It's sweet right down to the lovely applied carved bell flower and wreath applique and 60 1/4" long, 22 3/4" wide and 39 3/4" tall. Up for Auction: One(1) Antique 19th Century Empire European Side-Stand circa 1830's-1850's. A friend of mine asked me to list this for him and I am giving you the info he has been given on it. I am not a collector or a furniture professional. So I am hoping the collectors out there will know about this awesome find! I'm told that the knobs date back to 1826 and that this piece came over by ship from possibly Ireland? The carving on this one is fabulous to say the least. Can't even imagine the amount of time that was invested in this to create such an awesome look back in the day! Lion's paw/claw feet/legs are beautifully done. Piece shows obvious signs of aging. Wear and some chips scratches and surface cracks. I have tried to capture the condition the best I could. Two knobs are off the front but my friend has one of ... morethem. Two are still in tact and on side stand. No key for keyholes. Back of unit has pushed away in a few spots and he nor I have made any attempt to re attach. It is still attached but needs to be nailed back completely. In addition- we have made no attempt whatsoever to clean this beauty in fear that we might do more harm than good! Here is an absolutely delightful large antique empire style sideboard or buffet with gorgeous flame mahogany veneers. Columns with detailed carving above and below with very detailed fabulous carved lion's feet on the front legs. The large lovely cabinet has a really nice top surface with a number of faint or light scratches but no major gauges, stains, chips or other serious damage to the top as I attempt to show in my photographs. It is a somewhat oversize functional piece of furniture and perfect for a front entry hall, hallway, dining room or any room in your home or business. It has three drawers and three large open cabinets with lots of extra storage in a classic 19th century empire style sideboard in very nice condition and ready to make a statement in your home or office. The original metal hardware is all intact and sort of ... morea floral, perhaps a peony, in shape and are attached through into recessed holes within the drawers as shown. Investing just a bit into the minor repairs to the veneer to restore this great buffet to it's former glory will make this piece even more special and valuable if you prefer antiques restored and in near perfect condition. This beautiful sideboard stands 44 1/2 inches tall to the top surface of the sideboard and 49 3/4 inches tall to the top of the serpentine mantle across the back edge. It measures 63 inches long at it's widest point at the outside of the beautifully carved lion's feet on the front legs and the top surface board is 61 3/4 inches long. The piece is 24 3/8 inch deep front to back. Again at the deepest point at the lion's feet which protrude beyond the front of the drawers and cabinets, and 21 3/4 inch front to back at the top surface board and general body of the sideboard. This rope twist front finalizes down into claw feet with 4 of them across the front. This is WOW 63” inches wide x 24” front to back and at the top back stands 54” tall. However. The top surface is 42” tall. All 3 drawers are dovetailed and these drawers display wonderful glass and brass fluted pulls. The top left and right drawers are 12 1/2” wide x 4 1/2” deep and 19 1/2” front to back. Lots of Space! The center divided silverware drawer measures the same but is 25” wide. The 4 doors are 12 1/2” wide x 21 1/2” tall. Behind these 4 doors WOW you have a lot of cabinet storage space for items of choice. The back-splash or Chimney Back is banded on both ends. Three rounded drawers with original glass knobs offer nice storage for silverware and linens. Three doors at the bottom have raised panels and are each banded. Beautifully carved columns also decorate the front of the sideboard. Claw feet support the front. I think it is in fantastic condition for it age. But here are the apologies, there is slight veneer chipping~very minimal, but there will be some with a piece of this age. One brass key hole and lock are missing, the other doors lock. The feet have had some repair.
