This is a genuine Gillows of Lancaster oak server buffet. It has the Gillows Lancaster stamp on the left side base support. This stamp was used approx 1820-1840. Gillows furniture is considered to be some of the finest furniture ever made. Robert Gillow was considered a fine furniture maker and as prestigious as Sheraton. Hepplewhite and Chippendale. This is a wonderful example of the firms work. The server measures 47 inches wide. It is 37 inches tall at the second shelf and 39 3/4 inches high at the back top decorative rail. This is a 5.75" cucumber server/knife/fork in the 1896 Art Nouveau-influenced pattern Raphael by International. This piece is exceedingly rare and incredibly unique. It has noticeable wear from handling and use. But is in acceptable condition and would make an ideal addition to an elegant mealtime occasion. Ornamental eating utensils. Especially non-essential pieces, were indicators of status and wealth for middle-class households up until the mid- to late-20th century. An ever-expanding selection of flatware pieces, from tomato servers to asparagus prongs to baby food pushers, demonstrated that the owner had the money to spend on these costly and unnecessary but desirable pieces. Flatware started to become a status symbol when silver-plating techniques were invented in the mid-19th century. This is made for a narrow or smaller spoon like a fruit spoon, 5 o clock, dessert or coffee size and some of the wider more modern style spoons will not fit. This is marked K.S. Here is striking antique silverplate footed coffeepot. It is not marked on the bottom. So I have no idea as to who the maker is or a pattern name. It stands abougt 12" to the top of the knob on lid. It has a bearded warrior on the handle, and other soliders on the crown/castle top points near the lid. It has an ornate engraved monogram frame on the front and a monogram that I can't quite make out. The handle area has two glass or marble like disc to prevent the handle from getting hot to the touch. The lid hinge may have been repaired. There is a line of possible silverplate wear on the foot, that may have been caused by a drip that was never cleaned off. Overall it looks to be in quite good condition for it's age. From 1879! - Rogers Bros Large Antique Venison Server - with NO SILVER LOSS
This is a relatively large. Antique Victorian triangular silver plated venison or pie or pastry server, 9" long. The pattern name is PRINCESS. It was manufactured by 1847 ROGERS BROS A1 and it dates back to 1879. Notice in the photos below that the triangular serving blade features an etching of a stag complete with a full head of antlers and looking off to the left- which is why I think this piece probably was used to serve venison in the Victorian era. Also. Notice that there's an ornate monogram on the handle; looks like a very curli-cue C. Overall condition is very good. There's NO silver loss. NO pitting, and NO heel marks- which is remarkable for such an old piece of silver. There are some usage marks and a few tiny nicks here and there, and the stag etching has faded a bit(remember, this server is 130+ years old) This ... morepiece is totally useable and you can place it on your table as soon as you remove it from it's wrappings. Fabulous Unusual Antique English Biscuit Box / Server c.1880
A wonderful biscuit server. An elegant shape and beautifully decorated with a variety of engraved work including a wonderful floral and foliate filled basket on either lid. The handle can be moved either way and one of the two lids will lift, hence this box is technically a biscuit server. The underside does have a full mark for the silversmith, hard to make out and also EPNS for Electro-Plated Nickel Silver.
