The top of this hutch is curved and has a beveled edge and pressed wood design on the inside top edge. The front corners have been cut on angel and tiger striped veneer applied for added detail. There are 2 bevel cut leaded glass doors on top. The glass is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or breaks. This is a magnificent piece of furniture. There is a strip of burled wood down the center of the upper and lower pieces and the front of the lower doors have burled wood on them as well as a nicely designed inlaid tiger wood strip. This piece has great patina. The veneer has bubbled and chipped in a couple of spots but its hardly noticeable. The over all condition of this piece is excellent for its age. It is a very old antique and will not be perfect. I do not know the exact date it was made or who the maker is. The base measures 39 inches tall, 53 inches side to side and 23 inches front to back. It weighs 75 pounds. The top measures 34 ½ inches tall, 49 1/8 inches side to side and 17 1/8 inches front to back. It weighs 97 pounds. This is a very nice solid oak court cupboard. l would like to say it circa 1690. But lam not sure if the carving on the top is original. l bought it in England. And thought it was a fantastic cupboard. looking at the cupboard it is very old and l think its certainly a few hundred years old. But in the Victorian days they used to alter things, so it gives me the impression that it could have been altered maybe 100 years ago. So lam selling it as it is. The maker made this buffet by hand properly distressing and hand finishing the piece so it looks very much like a genuine antique sideboard. The top has a satinwood band and half satinwood and ebony ... morestar inlay. You will notice in a few of the pictures the top seems to have a"rippled" texture to it. The ripples run both left to right and front to back and we believe are due to the humidity change coming over from England. The piece is structurally sound and the ripples are only visible in certain lights but we wanted to disclose them as much as possible. Here is an exquisite. Massive, Antique 19th cent. American(probably Horner) quarter sawn oak sideboard buffet server. Straight out of a Long Island estate. Was in the same family for 70 years. This piece was made around 1880 and represents carved oak at its best. Incredibly carved with lions' heads. Paws, ribbons, and scrolls. Doors are all carved scrolls with center cartouche. They are separated by 2 columns of carved ribbons and fruit. The drawers above have handles of lions' faces. The top is crowned with an incredible lion head. The only condition issues are a small ring stain and a darker area on the top front right. Also a thin slit in the wood appx 18 inch long. These are very minor and can easily be fixed. Antique English Silver Fish Server Set - Exquisite Detail - T Prime - Excellent!
This is an Antique Fish Serving Set by Thomas Prime& Sons of Birmingham. England. It is highly ornamented and detailed and features openwork of vines and flowers. The craftsmanship is of the highest quality. The handles are ornamented with deep scroll work, culminating with an oval and a shell. I've taken several photographs in bright light so that you can see the quality and condition of these pieces. The condition is excellent with no worn spots to the plating and only very minor age appropriate dings to the handles. Both pieces bear the hallmark of TP&S(Thomas Prime& Sons) the mark MP under a crown and within a shield, indicating the process of magneto plating, the A1 mark, indicating the high quality, The word Prime written in script with"Pri" above"me" There is also the mark of another crown. And a ... morecross within a shield. The TP&S mark was registered by Thomas Prime in December, 1859. The other marks appear to date this set between 1865-1892. This set is a wonderful large size for serving. The knife is 13 1/8 inches(33.5 centimeters) long and 1 15/16 inches(5 centimeters) wide. The fork is 9 7/8 inches(25.2 centimeters) long and 2 3/8 inches(6 centimeters) wide. Thomas Prime of Birmingham. England, established his firm in 1818. In 1844, a magneto plating machine was made for Prime by J.S. Woolrich, and is still on display at the Birmingham Science Museum. Michael Faraday is said to have visited Prime's factory to see how his theories of electro-magnetic induction were being put to practical use. In 1851, his sons joined the firm and it became Thomas Prime& Sons Magneto Plate Works. Prime exhibited at the Great Exhibition at the Crystal Palace in 1851, and at the Paris Exhibition in 1856. This lovely large Antique Italian Ardalt Capo D' Oro(Capodimonte) Pedestal Server dates from the Nineteenth Century. It features wonderful decorations and Cherubs in the Italian Renaissance style. I understand it depicts a story in the design. Ardalt is the finest quality Italian and Porcelain and is entirely handmade of pure porcelain. Their textures ring out in time and space. The imperfection that I have found is a small flake below the rim on the back of the serving plate. On the bottom of this piece is indicated 4808 Ardalt Capo D' Oro Italy in black. The back of handle is plain with stampings of the Gorham lion, anchor, G, STERLING and Pat. 70. There is a monogram on the reverse side. This is a RARE antique Saratoga chip server made by Gorham(1893) in the Luxembourg pattern. It is marked STERLING on the back and has 3 tiny emblems before the word. The utensil has some patina from use. The elegant scalloped/fluted bowl portion of it looks like it may be goldwashed on the inside. It is 7&5/8 inches long and nearly 3.5 inches wide. Large and heavy weight sterling silver fish server made by Tiffany& Company. The server is done in the Palm pattern which was first produced in 1871. The entire piece is covered with a handsome gold wash. The blade is beautifully hand-engraved with ivy leaves and vines. The server is marked on the reverse with Tiffany& Co. Sterling Pat. 1871 and the letter M for the president of Tiffany. Edward Moore, who was director of the company from 1873 to 1891. There is some wear to the gold wash in a few places. Particularly on the underside of the piece, but this is quite minor. Otherwise, the condition is excellent.
