This is a tiger sawn oak beveled glass mirror back highly carved sideboard that dates from the turn of the century. 1900. It came out of ... morean estate, and is finished in a dark, dark oak stain finish. All we did was scuff it down and re-spray it with a satin sheen lacquer. Some hardware was missing, so we replaced it with some contemporary solid cast brass hardware that looks just like the pieces we replaced. The drawers are all tiger sawn and dovetail, and are serpentine, curve, and reverse serpentine. Underneath the large drawer and three small drawers on top are two carved panel doors that open for plenty of storage. The back has fluted columns, vase-shaped posts, candle shelves where the oil lamps used to sit, an original beveled glass mirror on the back, and a detailed heavily carved backsplash. The overall size is 48 inches wide, 24 inches deep, 38 inches high to the top of the base, and 81 inches to the very top. Glasgow. This beautiful piece of oak furniture has been built to a very high standard and has survive very well over the years. This sideboard measures approx. 136cm in length. Approx. 51.5cm in width and approx. 94cm in height. The small graduated backboard measures approx. 6cm at it tallest. Each cupboard measures approx. 35cm in across and approx. 51.5cm deep, the large drawers measure approx. 46cm across, approx 49cm in width and approx. 23.5cm deep. This oak side board is in good antique condition. It has underwent some gentle and sympathetic restoration to the top and face of the sideboard. This was due to major discolouration to the ... morewood due to previous spills, knocks and dents. The sideboard was gently sanded and waxed to bring out the natural grain of the warm oak wood. This beautiful late nineteenth to early twentieth century quartersawn oak sideboard has beautiful carvings including g riffins on top. Carved lion feet, a large beveled mirror with candle stands and long display shelf above as well as a lovely server surface, drawers and open cabinet space behind decorative doors below. The wood grains on this pieces are gorgeous, the front edge has a slight serpentine front and the detailed carvings including applique and trip work are spectacular and appear to be intact. This piece is on it's original casters so it can be moved easily. I show the casters in close up behind the decorative front carved lion's foot. This large sideboard stands 79 inches tall and measures 47 1/2 inches wide by 22 inches deep. Front to back. It travels safely and easily in two parts. The base is 38 inches tall and includes ... moretwo small drawers, each 18 inches wide by 15 1/2 inches front to back and 4 inches deep, one of which is a buffet drawer, lined in old maroon felt. Very unique antique bank table that was used for filling out deposit slips. Etc. in a bank. Great as a side table or a sofa table- or even a bar. Heavy oak edged top with leather inset and a brass panel that held inkwells or vases. This measures 72" long. 24" deep, and 36 1/2" tall. The top can be removed for transport. The two upper drawers are bow shape& the larger drawer is serpentine with lion heads on the pulls. Original brass keyholes. This fabulous English oak solid wood sideboard is 2 sections- top and bottom. The bottom has 4 drawers and 3 cupboards- the 2 center drawers are bowed. The cupboard side doors are single and center cupboard is a double door. It features a bowed carved front between the drawers and the center compartment- center cupboard is open up into that bowed area. Original brass"butterfly" hardware with a stylized design- one broken handle on bottom center door. The top section features 3 beveled mirrors and 4 shelves supported by carved columns. There is a sunflower motif on the pediment top center along with multiple carved flowers and leaf designs all over the front. Scrolls along the very top and sides. for auction is a monumental antique finest quartersawn oak sideboard i have ever seen or owned. Save one. i own one a tiny bit better maybe and it is unlikely that it is ever for sale in my lifetime. i am also an antique so one never knows when they may cross the bar. at any rate, the previous owner has toyed with selling this piece for the last 5 years or so and i told my picker if he ever sold it i would buy it. the fella that picks for me is paranoid and will never disclose names or locations, like he is afraid i will cut him out someway. anyway, i don't drive anymore out of the county so he should know i won't be going anywhere. anyway, everything is a big secret with martin. i have no history on the piece but there are a few things i can tell you. it is as good or better than any horner piece i own, and i have several, or have ... moreever owned, and that has been hundreds. the piece was made by berkey and gay and is signed in the top drawer. it is made of the finest quartersawn oak that could be had in the day. the top shelf which is not pictured so you can ascertain the flake is absolutely wonderful. the carving is masterfully done, no detail is left undone. the lion heads at the top are huge and life like and curl down to support the second shelf and come to rest on a very large paw that rests on the top of the sideboard. the doors are carved to death with one large lion head in the center and two smaller ones below the large center head located at 4 and 8 p.m. it is so busy you have to look to actually make them out but they are there and extremely well done. it has large lion heads on either side of the base that are above one of the largest and finest claw feet i have ever seen on a piece of furniture. it has a large cupid head in the center of the top of the thick molded support for the top. i think i measured the cupid at 7 inches wide. it has two large beveled mirror which appear to be original enclosed with very fine carved moldings. i could go on and on, but it is carved, molded, and fluted everyw

Beautiful American Antique New York 1800s R J Horner Carved Oak Sideboard Base
Here is an absolutely fabulous 19th century RJ HORNER New York USA made sideboard buffet base. You can see three small holes on top at the back where a mirrored top was probably attached. I bought this as a base only and had it refinished over 30 years ago-it was a dark mess and the wood grain wasn't visible otherwise I would have left it original. I wanted to see the glorious oak grain and everyone that has seen it over the decades has mentioned what an awesome piece it is. The carving is magnificent-hairy feet. Faces, shells, florals-fantastic quality. The drawers in the center are still there and usable, though could probably use some TLC to get them back to their best-there is a small chip in a corner and chain that holds it open needs some work. There are a couple of minor scuffs-one on top and one on lower side-captured in photos, ... moreand a couple of scratches on the top-tried to photograph. The bottom drawer sticks out-since last move 25 years ago. The nose of a center face has been flattened somewhat-again-with last move. One handle on left drawer is not rounded-may have had a piece off-has been that way since I bought it over 30 years ago. There is some minor denting around key locks-no key available. There may be another flaw,but I don't see them-but again this beauty is way over 100 years old. The back is fully intact-solid. Weighs a ton-built to last forever. This mission sideboard is very sturdy and has been recently refinished. The top has been replaced with a solid piece of quarter sawed oak to match the rest of the piece. This is a beautiful piece that offers wonderful storage with its large drawers and cabinets and features its original original brass hardware. Original mirror back and its old original finish with period dove-tailed joinery on the drawers. This sideboard measures 59 1/2 inches in height to the top of the gallery at the back. Total height to the top of the base measures 38 inches, total width of 54 inches, total depth of 24 inches and weighs approximately 150 lbs and does dis-assemble into 2 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving. Here is an absolutely gorgeous early 20th century quartersawn dark oak tall heavy carved mirror back sideboard with large beveled mirror and mirrored candle stands. Beautiful heavy carvings of grapes and other Arts and Crafts style motifs, lovely probably original metal Arts& Crafts hardware and keys for the lower cabinet. This wonderful solid oak sideboard has bun feet and a lovely carved bonnet on top and is overall just a striking piece in a tall but workable size. This sideboard stands 73 1/2 inches tall by 48 inches wide by 18 1/2 inches front to back overall, but travels in two pieces- the base 40 inches tall by 48 inches wide by 18 1/2 inches front to back; and the top section- 33 1/2 inches tall by 45 inches wide by 9 3/4 inches front to back. This lovely though functional piece is in remarkably nice though age appropriate condition ... moreas shown and was recently imported from the UK through Edinburgh. The top work surface is quite nice as shown and it is clean and in overall good condition inside and out. The large beveled mirror is 23 1/2 inches tall by 18 1/2 inches wide. the two small beveled candle stand mirror are 9 1/2 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches wide. These have been hand stripped and have a golden oak hand waxed finish which contrast well with the painted finish, beneath are 2 large drawers and a pair of cupboards, the doors have elaborate floral carved detail, both the doors and drawers have wooden strip handles(replacements) the interior has 2 wooden shelves which create 4 divisions in total. The dresser is sound sturdy and 100% free from woodworm.
