Comprised of rosewood and rosewood veneer over real wood(no mdf) The piece features two sliding doors that open to reveal a divided interior storage space with a single adjustable height shelf on the right side and three height adjustable slide out drawers on the left. This is one of the later examples(late 1960s) with the drawers being in white plastic(all original and one flocked along its interior bottom) The shelf and drawers have 7 height adjustments(2 3/8" increments) or can be removed all together, so you have many size options for your storage. Antique Venetian/Neo Classical Style Painted Credenza / Demi Lune Grand Rapids
This auction is for an antique Credenza or Demi Lune. This was purchased from an estate and it is just stunning. It is large measuring 50 inches wide and 32 inches tall. it has two doors on the front and a plaque on the back that just says Grand Rapids along with numbers on either corner. It looks to be from the 30's and is made in a Neo Classical style with al the gold decoration. The piece is very sturdy but the top does show wear from things sitting on it. I have not tried anything to change it. It really has a presence. This piece will have to be picked up locally or if you want it shipped you the buyer would be responsible for arranging the pick up and shipping. There is a small spot on the top where the finish has worn down just a little bit. Additionally. The left front leg has a tiny little chip in the corner(very hard to notice- see photos) I do try to note every imperfection, in the interest of full disclosure. Last thing I would want as a seller is to have you come to retrieve the piece and have it not be in the stated condition. It is beautifully inlaid in cut brass with a jester in the centre of the panel in the central door. In addition there is scrolling acanthus foliage with flowers and honeysuckle. This was an inherited piece and I am planning a cross country move in which I am afraid of damaging it. I do have an appraisal done in 2007 for 4000.00. I had purchased some other pieces from a Orlando dealer and he was so taken with this piece and concerned that I had not insured it that without my asking about a week later this appraisal showed up in the mail. I think he mentioned French in origin. Everyone who sees the piece is in awe and I am sure that the photos dont come near capturing how impressive it is. The only area of concern is where someone must of locked themselves out and pried it open an easy fix and an easy match ... moreif it bothers you as it never really bugged me. The mirror shows it's age with some cloudiness seen in photographs but the flash photography made it look much worse in the pictures than in-person. The cabinetmaker that made this cabinet chose some very good quality timbers for the job.
