fantastic antique rosewood belter credenza all original as well the marble top
for sale is a wonderful antique rosewood credenza most likely made by belter circa 1850. it is rosewood and is presented in original finish. It is a bit dark but i have cleaned it with steinway cleaner and conditioner. plus i did polish it with steinway polish. it has wonderful rosewood in the construction with fabulous grain. it has two doors under a serpentine drawer. the shape of the credenza is serpentine. it is very heavy, the secondaries in the drawer and inside the cabinet portion are maple or that is what i think it is. the drawer has hand cut dovetails for the joints and the bottom is hand chamfered. the back panels in the back are also all hand chamfered. it expect it was made circa 1850-1860 or thereabouts. the nails that are in the back that secure the back panels to the base bottom are all square nails. it features rococo carving ... moreconsistent with belter pieces of this era. the marble top is original with a very minimal area of roughness at the back left of the marble where is rests against the elevated small crown molding. it is an area about 4 inches long and 1/16 inches in depth. it is totally insignificant and actually can barely be noticed if you really look, i just mention for accuracy. i expect it has always been there and just part of the way it always was. the mirrors are good, i do not know if they are original of course the backing boards are. it is very solid with no defects to be noted. sits level, no wiggles, wobbles, or anything of that nature. the doors close perfectly and the drawer slides like it was oiled with melted butter. it is 38.5 inches tall, 21.5 inches deep at the widest point, and 56 inches wide at the greatest width at the bottom. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. i can help arrange for transportation should that be of benefit to anyone. good luck. great piece.

Correction! Was told by antique shop[we purchased entire contents. Had been closed for years] that this was the 1st electric[told year was 1926] but we don't see any electric to it! It is a Victrola Victor Talking Phonograph with a nice Credenza! Cabinet is very nice overall- bottom of one leg split off at floor part, but has been wood glued back on nicely. This beautiful Baker set includes six chairs. One with arms, head of the table, five without, side chairs) a Dining table, with three leafs(however the leafs are in need of repair) and a matching Credenza/Buffet. I've included some history of the Baker Furniture Company. As you can see, our set is from the original label from 1927-1935. MARKS AND LABELS“Baker Furniture Factories” was printed in a distinctive Gothic script from the late 1920s through the early 1930s. And furniture from the same period(post-1927) carried an octagonal“shopmark” The company name“Baker Furniture, Inc. appears in a script with flourishes as early as 1937, a variation of which is still used. In the 1940s Baker adopted the logo of a crown(signifying tradition) and tulip(signifying Dutch craftsmanship) over a“B” which is also in use today. Up for auction is a beautiful Tiger Oak Credenza. It measures 34" wide x 20" deep x 28" high. I believe this is from the early 1900's and the condition is very good. Although I think at some point there may have been low mirror along the back. It is not noticeable and I think this would make a Great stand for a flat screen television for the antique lover. Antique burled walnut dresser/sideboard/credenza/bureau. It has a white demilune beveled marble top and large center mirror. On either side of the mirror there are two curved cabinets with a shelf in each. Picture 10 shows a small piece of veneer at the top left that has come unglued and a couple of marks. There are three large graduated drawers. On the bottom of each side of the drawers there are two curved cabinets with a shelf in each. The four cabinet curved doors are finished on the inside. Antique Italian late 17C cabinet credenza bookcase. Pine & walnut.
Here's a fine example of an early Italian pine credenza of about 350 years old. The pine now. While darker, still casts a yellowish hue that lightens up the whole piece, unlike others that are all walnut that came after this. Still sports it's original spring lock on an unmolested door(never removed or changed) No key. However. Large walnut diamond lozenge shapes on two front doors and sides. Still solid and without any weakness. Door and drawer knobs. I find that so amazing. Totally solid. Doors however are fine, but should be opened slow and with a slight lifting so that they don't rub on the lower shelf. Right door looks to have been cracked and repaired. Inside floor has an old sheet of plywood put on over the existing floor. Very minor losses to floor moulding. At one time a TV was installed in the cabinet and the back of ... morethe cabinet was cut about 8" round to accomodate the old TV's. Fortunately. They saved 90% of the cutout and this was re-fitted into the original space. Size is 51" wide. 49.5 high and 21" deep. Pick up locally or will assist with your shipper at your cost.
