The large Secretary Desk Bookcase has a half round mirror on the left top side over the desk area and the right top side has a double brass finial and rod gallery over the bookcase area. Everything is completely original except for the mirror which was broken has been replaced. There is a small wood professional repair to the bottom left corner of the drop front lid but that is minor and matches the grain and not noticeable. It has been completely refinished to restore its original Golden Oak finish and ready for your beautiful home. Notice the beautiful quartered sawed oak grain through out the piece and the deep heavy ornate carvings and bead work. What a great piece of furniture. It doesn't get any better than this! There are three shelves in the bookcase that are adjustable. There is one shelf below in the lower double door compartment that locks underneath the desk. Each drawer and door has a skeleton key lock with two keys included. Inside the desk is a beautiful pigeon hole interior and one small drawer with a brass knob. The piece is complete with an open shelf above the drop down desk. The piece is 50" wide. 14" deep, and 80 1/4" or 6 ft. 8 1/4" tall. It is slowly gaining character and has a few marks and scratches as one would expect for a desk of this age. It is based upon a georgian style desk and would look well in any office/ living room. The desk stands on georgian style bracket feet supporting the main section that has three small drawers eitherside of the knee hole and to the back of the knee hole there is a door. There are two top larger drawers that are serpentine leading to the top. The top has a bull nosed edge and wooden frame leading to a superb leather section. Which is quite rare having the circle in the middle. The leather is red with a gold trim around and has no rips or tears but plenty of marks and scratches to add character to the desk.
