You must see this lovely slant front desk that opens to so many marvelous little drawers and compartments. The goldish tone paint with warm brown HAND DONE GRAIN paintings making it look like a piece of wood is stunning and rare. The desk is in excellent condition for its age and has a repair to the bottom left frame. It is extrememly old. Ample and works.not interfering with its strength. The drawers have marvelous authentic glass knobs and the inner drawers have delightful old small knobs of metal and opalescent knobs. Really cool.Some of the small drawers inside have been restored and parts replaced ... morein the back portions of the little drawers to keep the desk working perfectly. But just the little drawers and only a few. The rest of the desk is originally intact. This truly is a good antique American piece of history. From the structure I feel. As well as folks I know who are very knowledgable of antiques, that the desk is late 1700s and perhaps early 1800s. but definitely very early. Except for the repair on the bottom right side all the way down, which does not affect its strenghth, we are purists and do not want a replacement since the bottom board works fine) the remainder of the desks is just marvelous. Antique Chippendale Slant Top Desk Signed Albert R. Winroth
This antique Chippendale desk is tiger maple with dovetailing throughout all the drawers. Body, and top of the desk. It is signed by Albert R. Winroth and has a beautiful inscription of historical prominence that reads"Renovated by Albert R. Winroth and Sons Stoughton Mass. Oct. 7th, 1939 Just the way Dad would have done it. NC New England Style Circa 1790: Chippendale taste with reverse serpentine front; ball and claw feet; blocked top drawer above three plain drawers; shallow intaglio carved fan on writing flap; fitted interior; brass bail and rosette pulls. Federal escutcheons with incurved corners; brown gloss finish.
