Offered here is this Beautiful Vintage Kittinger Solid Mahogany Executive Desk. The desk is in amazing condition, overall, but does have some light surface ... morescratches and wear from general use, particularly at the edge of the chair opening, most likely from the chair bumping into it in this area. I am unsure of the exact age of the desk. It is most likely a 1970's reproduction of an 18th Century Georgian Design. It has beautifully carved ball and claw feet, and chunky cabiole legs that are also carved at the knees. This desk has five (5) substantial drawers with the original brass bail pull handles, and five (5) faux drawer fronts on the back side also with brass bail pull handles. The drawers have dove tail joints. The desk was in front of a window for years, and therefore the finish on the back side is a bit faded.

CHEST OF DRAWERS ANTIQUE CHAIRS TABLES BRONZE SCULPTURES FINE PAINTINGS SCHOOL OF ORIGIN SUBJECT LAMPS. LIGHTING FINE ENGLISH GEORGIAN MAHOGANY KNEEHOLE ... moreDESK. MID 18TH CENTURY C. 1740-60 Exceptional state of preservation- retaining original brasses and untouched feet Only the desk is being offered in this listing. The chair shown to give a sense of scale Item# 110105PII25 This is a remarkably well preserved English Georgian Mahogany Kneehole Desk from the third quarter of the 18th century. It is crafted of well figured solid single boards of Mahogany on the top and sides- there is no veneer on this desk. Just solid boards of full grain mahogany. A simply molded edge runs the perimeter of the top, each corner scalloped. Each drawer is hand dovetailed front and back, with thin oak frame construction and thin oak drawer bottoms- all drawers are fully original and lack any adjustments and restorations to the secondary construction. Glowing hand forged brass hardware adorns each drawer. Appearing to have never been removed from the piece. Inside each drawer, as well as the tiny door in the kneehole area, silver metal locks are secured and functional. Each lock appears to be original, each uniquely cut on the right hand corner for all small drawers- it would appear the craftsman was presented with the challenge of making the lock of his choice fit the small space in conjunction with the pull hardware, and overcame this but cutting the corners of each lock. Hand made screws are visible throughout the lock hardware. While we cannot say for certain if the key is original, it is of the period, hand made and very similar in metal color to that of the locks. Each drawer is lip-molded and slides flawlessly in and out of the desk. Just below the top drawer is a secret drawer compartment. Appearing to be part of the frame design, but actually pulls outward smoothly as an extra hand dovetailed drawer. The wide top drawer pulls out to reveal a full dust shelf. Protecting drawers below from saw dust and other debris as it op

It measures 4" tall x 9" x 12" closed and is 18 1/2" when opened. There is still one inkwell/bottle left. There is a small chip to the bottom of the bottle. We unfortunately do not have the key. The box is in overall solid condition. There the finish could use some attention and there are some dings, chips and scraches to the finish. It also looks like two of the screws are larger then the others so I assume they are replacements. A beautiful late 18th century to 19th Century original piece.

This piece is from our Antique Shop in Massachusetts. Portable boxes for writing materials had existed for many centuries and in many cultures. However it was not until the last decades of the 18th century that the socio-economic circumstances in England necessitated the wide use of a portable desk in the form of a box which could be used on a table or on one's lap. Hence"Lap Desk" From the end of the 18th. To the end of the 19th century, the writing box featured prominently on military expeditions, travels, libraries and in drawing rooms. Great literature as well as dispatches, contracts, letters and postcards were written on its sloping surface. Both the traveling civilians and the army officers needed compact and strong writing boxes. Which could withstand the rough and tumble of strenuous journeys. This gave rise to the most popular type of 18th century writing box, the military style, or campaign box or travelers lap desk. Typical characteristics of writing boxes of the period: They are rectangular shaped with a flat surface. They are approximately eight to twenty inches long. Ten inches deep when closed and seven inches tall. They open up to a sloping writing surface consisting of two flaps with space under them for paper etc. When open to the writing position. There i

SUPERB 18TH CENTURY CHERRY CHIPPENDALE DESK ON FRAME-UPPER CONNECTICUT RIVER VALLEY NORTHAMPTON. MASSACHUSETTS CIRCA 1780 With our most exceptional pleasure ... morewe are delighted to offer you this stunning Circa 1780 Upper Connecticut River Valley Northampton. Massachusetts solid figured cherry Chippendale desk on ball and claw foot skirted apron frame with the finest scale and proportions. This is an absolute gem of the Upper Connecticut River Valley discipline of furniture making and joinery. The dovetailed sets on this case are just the tightest most precise works you'll ever find on a true Colonial American piece. The apron on the frame base has the best form scrolling and elegant tall gracefully raked legs terminating in the best ball& claw legs. Most interesting is the original American cotter pinned brasses. This marks an important epoch in Upper Ct River Valley case pieces where brasses were near impossible to import from the usual English sources we commonly see on American furniture. The brasses are both elegant and charming simplistic very early American made specimens. To find cotter pinned brasses like these original to an 18th century piece is both noteworthy and very important. Any American 18th century cases on original frames immediately signifies something very special and important to period American furniture collecting. The work lid and drawer face are all molded. The interior of the desk is laid out in a step back semi amphitheater form with drawers possessing molded bases and a nice series of document cubbies. The case is completely correct and absolute original to the frame. Its simply a remarkably beautiful piece we couldn't possibly be prouder of. It is 38 1/2" long, 19" wide and 41 1/2" tall just perfect in scale. Sorry our pictures picked up some shade shadows as we desire natural sunlight to give our pieces their truest color representations. There are no black marks on the case! Thank you for viewing this wonderful piece. PLEASE READ WELCOME TO BAY COLONY ANTIQU

BEAUTIFUL EARLY 19TH CENTURY CHERRY WOOD DESK A wonderful early nineteenth Century cherry wood. French foot slant, front desk in original condition including ... morethe finish glue blocks support and bracket, just the way a purist would want to find it. This gorgeous piece came out of a Massachusetts Estate. The desk has nice patinated hardware. But not of the period. This desk has very elegant shaped feet and of full height giving the desk a very pleasing look. Hard to find a better one in the market dating from this 1805 period. This desk is untouched. So there are stress fractures all shown in the photos. This French foot chest is also very practical for daily use being 43 1/4" high and 40" wide by 20" deep. A lap top would fit nicely on the working surface. Plus there is room for a phone and paper work. Have fun bidding on this wonderful piece of antique furniture. Fine Antique 18th Century American Chippendale Mahogany Slant Front Desk c.1770
Please note. We have a very large collection of additional images of this piece available for your enjoyment below. Description: This listing is for a Chippendale Period Slant Front Desk circa 1770-80. Salem Massachusetts, in the manner of John Chipman(b. 1746-1819) It features solid Cuban Mahogany case, each side crafted of a single solid plank, through-dovetailed at the top and dovetailed at the bottom. The slant front lid features an original keyhole escutcheon over what appears to be the original brass lock, falling onto arms that slide out with brass knobs- one original, the left one replaced. The open writing surface is clean, with what appear to be two original brass hinges, though curious patching is noted below flaking each hinge. Above the writing surface is a collection of nine small drawers, the centermost shell carved, each with ... morebrass knobs, below which a gallery of six pigeon holes rest in perfect symmetry. The case has four graduated drawers. Each of which feature period bail pull brass hardware flanking a replaced lock with original brass keyhole escutcheon. The drawers are hand dovetailed front and back, the front dovetails hidden behind applied cockbead molding. The drawers are yellow pine secondaries, the bottom being deeply chamfered along the perimeter to rabbet into the frame. They slide easily in and out of the case over replaced drawer runners, the drawer dividers running into the sides behind a mahogany facade, effectively hiding what are probably dovetail joints. The back of the case has all original backboards, though many nails are replaced. The molded apron features a carved shell drop down medallion in the center that mirrors the design of the middle drawer. The case rests over scroll cut bracket feet, each with an incredible flowing design in the manner of John Chipman. We do not believe the desk was executed in the shop of John Chipman. As his cases will typically feature exposed dovetail drawer dividers in the Newport manner, and the pidgeon-hole gallery will regularly featur
English George III Chippendale Antique Secretary Bookcase Desk 18th Century 1780
English George III Chippendale Bookcase Secretary Desk Late 18th Century with Modern Alterations. C. 1780-1800 Item# 130001KSH27 This is a very attractive English George III Chippendale Antique Secretary Desk. Originally crafted during the last quarter of the 18th Century and altered during the first quarter of the 20th Century. It was probably a more plain version of the rather fine piece we see today. Altered to suit the appetite for high-style pieces during the first quarter of the 20th Century. Crafted of mahogany veneers with pine and oak secondaries, the case features two over three graduated drawers with replaced brasses over bold oversized bracket feet. The slant front drops over original hinges to rest on extending lopers, revealing a large mahogany writing surface with six document drawers over two long-thin drawers flanked on either ... moreside by an inverted graduated stack of drawers- this is a rather unusual feature, the graduation going from largest on the top to smallest on the bottom. It is crafted in two parts, the upper bookcase with adjustable shelves and glazed glass doors under a projecting crown and dentil molding. A visually interesting and desirable piece. Though not suited for collector tastes due to the alterations, this is a wonderful period secretary desk with a deep patination throughout giving it fine character. It is a striking piece that will drastically improve the overall presentation of any formal setting- offered at a fraction of the price a pure piece would bring on the open market. This is a fine acquisition for interior decorators or those looking for authentic appeal in an affordable antique secretary desk. English George III Chippendale Mahogany Slant Front Desk, 18th Century c. 1780
Fine English George III Chippendale Mahogany Slant Front Desk Late 18th Century Item# 130106KKP08 This is a very fine work of precision. Laudable in every regard as a work of a highly skilled craftsman. The first feat was the selection of boards that would truly set this desk apart- it is an understatement to describe the golden and brilliant flow of mahogany from the slant lid through the top as simply brilliant. It is pure and breathtaking. The paired boards are literally superior to almost every desk we have handled in their visual qualities: the excited swirls of each board flow into one another with a symmetry that is not simply mirrored or"match-booked" but is carefully planned and took great consideration on the part of the craftsman. Effect like this is rare and shows great taste and means. The rest of the case has a warm"plum ... morepudding" appearance to the mahogany. The graduated drawer facades intentionally restrained in order to highlight the stunning gilt-bronze hardware on each drawer. These original pieces are works of art, exceedingly expensive even at the time of production. Flanking the drawers are the drawer slides, these with dangling hand forged gilt bronze pulls. Each of these parts is framed in thin applied cockbead molding; on the drawers, this molding wraps around the hand dovetailed front joints. The sides of the case are solid planks of mahogany. Each a fine and broad selection- the left side is a single plank, the right side is two planks of very close grain formations. The back of the case is undisturbed with even color, the entire case resting over original bracket feet of robust and appropriate breadth to match the overall air of the case. Pieces of this quality were crafted for patrons of exceptional means and taste. In it's day. This slant front desk would have been considered an outstanding piece; today it retains the same dynamic appeal it's first customer enjoyed while it was on the floor of the shop. Finished in a high luster french polish, protecting th

To address the first and most obviously important feature of this desk is this whimsical variation on the drake foot. These legs are absolutely beyond any shadow of a doubt correct and original to this desk's case. We have been over it with a fine tooth comb. The legs have an extreme Ogee form that lends to the handsome appearance of this ... morefine American Revolutionary War vintage Chippendale period desk. The importation of mahogany was becoming extremely difficult due to the British Naval Blockades of important ports and trade routes. Existing stockpiles of mahogany were scarce and native woods had to be employed. The secondaries of this desk are in pine with chamfered chestnut panels on its drawer bottoms. This desk is pure and correct in its first finish and obviously a cleaned surface. The case of this desk has a wonderful robust dovetailed single plank base made of old growth native pine and a very unique and telling pine tooled molding that accents its base. The statement of its attribution is made on the strong opinion of our most senior member who has encountered one or two of these in untouched intact 18th century estates in the formal years of his training in his native South Shore Communities of Massachusetts. 18th CENTURY BOSTON CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY DESK WITH AMPHITHEATRE INTERIOR With our compliments we are pleased to offer you this wonderful 18th Century Circa 1760's Boston solid Cuban mahogany slant lid desk with fabulous fully finished amphitheater interior. Dovetailed case and bracket base. This fine old desk is in its first finish and untouched surface. It is adorned with period brass bing wing hardwares and has been professionally maintained over the years with period accuracy maintaining its integrity. 250 year old pine foundations with 175 pounds of solid dense mahogany on top of it gives way. The attention it has received was very expensive museum grade maintenance. It has four graduated molded drawers ... moreand original locks. The desks' interior is simply fabulous and the finish was carefully left absolutely alone. The lid suffered a chip when someone forced the lock about a century ago. Great thought was given in leaving it alone. We agree. If you do not we can have our woodworker give it professional splicing around the lid chip. It is truly a grand old lady that has been treated with great respect. We did not receive a key but our locksmith can match one very simply. English George II Antique Kneehole Desk Dressing Table, 18th Century c. 1740-60
Fine English Chippendale Mahogany Kneehole Desk c. 1740-60 Originality preserved throughout in the hardware and feet- Only the desk is being offered in this listing. The chair shown is offered elsewhere in our collection Item# 110105PII25 This is a remarkably preserved English Chippendale Period Kneehole Desk. Circa 1740-50. It is crafted of well figured solid single boards of Mahogany on the top and sides- there is no veneer on this desk, just solid boards of full grain mahogany. Appearing to have never ... morebeen removed from the piece. This is a unique addition for the craftsman to make, as many of these knee hole desks are without such innovations. The wide top drawer pulls out to reveal a full dust shelf. Protecting drawers below from saw dust and other debris as it opens and closes. The first few inches are solid mahog

Each drawer is hand dovetailed front and back, with thin oak frame construction and thin oak drawer bottoms- all drawers ... moreare fully original and lack any adjustments and restorations to the secondary construction. Any American 18th century cases on original frames immediately signifies something very special and important to period American furniture collecting. The work lid and drawer face are all molded. Antique 18th Century American Short top desk (cherry?)
This is a beautiful antique American desk from the 1700s. I believe the wood is cherry. But I am not certain. We purchased this desk from a reputable(now retired) antiques dealer in Charlottesville, VA. I still have the receipt and will provide a copy upon purchase. There are professional repairs to the wood near the hinges- but this work was done some time ago. It can be seen in the photo where the desk top is opened. There is also a superficial crack on the surface of the desk, which can be seen in the same photo. As we were told when we purchased it- this was not always an antique and was actually used as a desk over 200 years ago! We recently moved and now it sits in our hallway- but it is too big to remain there. Dimensions are as follows: 20" Deep(at base) 40 1/4" Wide(at base) 42 5/8" H If you have any questions or would ... morelike more pictures. Please let me know. Shipping is local pickup only. EARLY 18TH CENTURY WILLIAM & MARY PERIOD DESK IN WALNUT ON BALL FEET-NICE DESK!
EARLY 18TH CENTURY WILLIAM& MARY WALNUT NORTH SHORE MASSACHUSETTS DESK ON BALL FEET Bay Colony Antiques take the utmost pleasure of offering you this awesome early 18th Century Walnut William& Mary period desk. This is a Circa 1730-40 Massachusetts desk with a fabulous case and study in the first half of the 18th Century Colonial joinery and furniture making. The feet have been replaced with the very finest quality restoration work. Any 300 year old close to Pilgrim Century Ball Feet desks has some sort of leg issues. The ones that don't are $25.000 and up desks. They are mainly all in major American museum's collections. The feet were normally made of soft woods and not walnut and simply deteriorated. The desk was restored around its desk hinges, in second but indeed period correct brasses that are fabulous and fastened by ... morecotter pins. These are $100 a piece brasses easily and we would buy every set we could find but really smart people have been snatching these up for the last 250 years. A ton of money was invested in the restoration of this desk. The case is otherwise pure with great chestnut secondary woods(indicating its indeed a Coastal Regional Desk) and a dovetailed single old growth paneled base board with excellent tool original marks. We believe its North Shore, Massachusetts but we have seen these made all the way down through Boston and into Rhode Island. It has an original stepped back amphitheater interior with hidden compartment slide open compartment. If your a William& Mary period collector not ready to make the five figure leap here is a fabulous alternative. If were selling it restored its nothing less than very special. Exceedingly Rare Antique AMERICAN 18th Century Military Campaign Mahogany Desk
Exceedingly Rare Antique AMERICAN 18th Century Military Campaign Mahogany Desk We are Proud to offer to you a Very Exceedingly Rare Philadelphia or New Jersey military Campaign Desk circa 1790's Please View our slide show for this piece here: via Flickr. 2 Parts. Upper Desk: Comprises of a fold out writing platform. With 2 removable flat boards, and 3 drawers. the ends have Chippendale batwing brass heavy duty carrying handles. Mahogany wood construction, with poplar secondary woods. The case is all blind dovetailed, and the drawers are all dovetailed construction with single board poplar flat drawer bottoms. The left most drawer retains 2 of the original cut glass ink bottles(one damaged) Lower Part: Cherry tapered leg base. With a drawer. The drawer is all dovetailed construction with yellow pine secondary woods. The drawer slides are ... moreremovable for transport. The hardware on the drawer is replaced. The legs are mortised and pinned into the side front and back rails, all consisting of 1 1/2" thick cherry. The side rails that are attached to the base are made of mahogany on the sides and yellow pine on the back. All have hand cut nails holding them onto the base. We are confident that the desk was made in Philadelphia(or its environs) around 1770 to the 1790's. The base. However, is a slightly different story. We believe the base was made FOR the top to rest on, and was made by a country cabinet shop; klunky, thick, and heavy woods, unrefined dovetails on the drawer construction(as opposed to the fine construction of the top, made by a well trained cabinet shop in a city manner with very fine wood, thinly cut, fine hand cut dovetails, and very talented blind cut dovetails in the case) The blind cut dovetails are impressive and very difficult to master on such a fine scale as this- it took a very talented city cabinet shop to make such a thing, and fine, imported English cut glass ink bottles were only available in cities. The use of poplar in the secondary woods of the desk indicates Philadelphia or

I have never seen one this nice before. Please notice that due to being over a 200 hundred years old it does show signs of wear and cracking in places. He told me that he believes it is from the 1700's so if you know anything more about this please let me know. If you are a professional you know that something like this comes around once in a lifetime. GOOD LUCK BIDDING! Pickup only. Antique 18th century Kneehole Desk Dressing Table Chest c. 1750 ish
2014-12-07 1 SEE PICTURES BELOW Beautiful 18th century kneehole desk. I am not an expert. But I will do my best to describe it. I did have an antique furniture repairman look at it and verify what it was. But he's no longer available to help describe it, due to health problems) It is 29 7/8" tall, 32 3/8" wide, and 18 3/8" deep. I'm not sure what kind of wood it is. The 6 drawers(3 on each side) do not have the original drawer pulls. You can clearly see where the original drawer pulls went through and have been filled and repaired. see pics) Below the main top drawer is a"secret" drawer that appears to be part of the frame. There is plenty of character and wear from 250+ years of existance. Please view photos. If there is anything specific that you would like to see that I missed with the provided photos, ... morejust let me know and I'll take more.

English George III Period Mahogany Antique Slant Front Desk c 1780, 18th Century
ENGLISH GEORGE III MAHOGANY SLANT FRONT DESK Circa 1780-1800 Item# 412WZQ05A This fine antique English George III slant front desk is noteworthy for it's very attractive proportions. Having a more slender frame than many of the desks of the period. It is an object that does not impose itself on a room, but rather it's graceful and understated form bring depth and visual interest to whatever space it becomes a part of. With a deep and wonderfully oxidized early finish, preserved under many layers of glowing wax, the vibrant grains of the solid mahogany planks utilized in all primary surfaces are shown in their best light. The case itself is of simple construction. The sides dovetailed into the bottom, the top and sides joined with a blind dovetail to leave a smooth undisturbed top surface. The slant lid falls over original wrought ... moreiron hinges to rest on a pair of projecting lopers with original shaped brass pulls, revealing a handsomely fitted interior with a pair of pigeon-hole slots with scalloped valances flanking the fluted document drawers and molded prospect door. The document drawers are inoperable from the front, these being the first clue that the entire prospect section of the interior is actually a hidden compartment- by opening the prospect door and depressing a switch hidden in the top of the open space, the entire box of both document drawers and prospect door is released to reveal the hidden access to the document drawers from the back. The rest of the little drawers lining the interior are very well crafted, each with precise little dovetails in the oak secondary woods and retaining their original knobs. The drawers of the facade are constructed in the typical manner. Each with cockbead molding applied to one-third depth around the hand dovetailed oak secondary woods- all drawers remain in untouched condition, retaining their original locks, brasses and structure. The backboards were reattached at one point during the nineteenth-century using brads, probably as the original nails lost their
