The secretary has a mirror, that is on the top at the right side and unbelievably gorgeous carved details and applied accents all throughout. It also has the original metal hardware, which is absolutely incredible and ornate as well. The front door of the secretary that would open down as a writing service has been broken off, and in half horizontally, however, the hinges are intact and it could easily be repaired. This door is 14" top to bottom, 20" wide. There is a lot of light staining and wear as well as scratches and dings to the finish.

It was likely made in the early 1900's. Made of oak. And has a spooncarved front. There are no identifying markings. It is in excellent shape and it has the original finish. Brass fittings show a bit of tarnish but should clean up easily with a little TLC. Three of the posts on the brass rail at the top are loose but can be easily secured with a little bit of attention. One of the rail ends is stripped so that will need to be secured as well. Otherwise this piece is ready for your home. I would be happy to provide more detailed photos if requested. I hate to part with such a beautiful and unique item but we no longer have the room and it just doesn't fit our decor. The dimensions are 40 1/2” tall its tallest point. 33 1/2“ wide at its widest point at the base, and 19” deep when closed,and 34“ deep when opened. Local pickup only.

Condition: Used Location: Shelburne, United States I'm selling this beautiful antique secretary made of solid mahogany that I received from a gentleman who said it was in his family for 7 generations ... moreand was originally purchased in the Hudson River Valley in New York by his steamboat captain great-great-great-great-great grandfather in approximately 1800. It has 3 hidden compartments and lots of pigeon holes and small drawers. It comes with the keys for the upper hutch. The fold down desk and the small door inside but not the drawers below. It has the original glass, which is wavy and has bubbles in it, in both panels on the left side but not on the right side. One pane is missing on the right side but would be easy enough to replace. Lots of character on this gorgeous old piece. It measures 81 inches high, 47 inches wide and is 23-1/2 inches deep at the bottom. The interior is solid oak.some beautiful quartersawn and this slant front will lock with a replaced lock and key. Hinges are heavy iron and original. The top drawer is a false drawer and then the 2 over 3 drawers are all graduated. All of the drawers inside and out are hand dovetailed as shown. Antique Mahogany Secretary Desk & Hutch Circa 1800 w/Keys & Hidden Compartments
I'm selling this beautiful antique secretary made of solid mahogany that I received from a gentleman who said it was in his family for 7 generations and was originally purchased in the Hudson River Valley in New York by his steamboat captain great-great-great-great-great grandfather in approximately 1800. It has 3 hidden compartments and lots of pigeon holes and small drawers. It comes with the keys for the upper hutch. The fold down desk and the small door inside but not the drawers below. It has the original glass, which is wavy and has bubbles in it, in both panels on the left side but not on the right side. One pane is missing on the right side but would be easy enough to replace. Lots of character on this gorgeous old piece. It measures 81 inches high, 47 inches wide and is 23-1/2 inches deep at the bottom. It comes apart in two ... morepieces so the bottom part is 41-1/2 inches high, 47 wide and 23-1/2 deep and the top part is 39-1/2 inches high, 47 inches wide and 12 inches deep. ANTIQUE 18TH C OAK MAHOGANY SLANT FALL DROP FRONT DESK BUREAU SECRETARY
Here is a fantastic original Georgian circa late 1700's English solid oak desk with gorgeous figured mahogany. The mahogany would have probably been added at a later date such as the early 1800's when figured mahogany veneer became more popular and more readily available. The pigeon hole interior has a unique look and design with lots of extra added details as well as a well interior below the writing surface which simply slides open. The interior is solid oak.some beautiful quartersawn and this slant front will lock with a replaced lock and key. Hinges are heavy iron and original. The top drawer is a false drawer and then the 2 over 3 drawers are all graduated. All of the drawers inside and out are hand dovetailed as shown. The hardware is a later addition.possibly and most probably changed if and when the figured mahogany veneer ... morewas added in the very early 1800's. The desk is supported by a bracket foot base.
