There are brass accents and a lock mechanism. But no key. The sloped writing desk still contains the original wood pen holder(7 1/2" long, 2" wide and 3/4" tall) and the glass powder jar with cover(1" tall and 1 1/2" wide) There are bits of wood veneer missing on the top and corners. There is some staining. And a few minor rips to the black and blue velvet on the inside. There is scuffing and scratching on the bottom. An amazing. Substantial piece weighing twenty-eight pounds. You don't see them like this anymore. This must have taken months to complete. It was passed down for generations to a friend and he gave it to me for helping him move. UNBELIEVEABLE WORK. I have never seen one this nice before. Please notice that due to being over a 200 hundred years old it does show signs of wear and cracking in places. He told me that he believes it is from the 1700's so if you know anything more about this please let me know.
