French Louis XV Style Gilt Mounted Mahogany Bureau Plat Early 20th Century. Probably c. 1910-30 Item# 130008GQJ26 Crafted during the first years of the ... more20th Century. When fervor for antiques of the Louis XV taste were still at a remarkable high, this very attractive French Louis XV Bureau Plat was embellished with great effort. Featuring a solid mahogany top with a molded edge, the front of the bureau plat has a long hand dovetailed drawer for storage, opening to reveal a solid golden oak interior. The keyhole escutcheon is probably the finest bronze mount on the desk, a piece that prominently features the rocaille movement around the fully functioning key and lock. The apron is shapely, the front and back mirroring the flow of the top with a slight inversion in the middle. The cabriole legs are formed with very fine gate, the tapering form nearly perfect in proportion to the table, each surmounted with an intense rocaille Gilt bronze mount with the"C" form featured actively as it curls over the entire knee- a thin reed of gilt bronze continues to flow down the leg into the beautiful Gilt bronze sabot mounts with curling toes. This is a fully functional piece. Not just being a beautiful decorative art, the form being sturdy and strong throughout with a clean writing surface. For decorators passionate about the French Louis XV form, this is a wonderful find. Measurements: 39 1/2" wide x 23 7/8" deep x 29 1/4" high to top of desk; 24 1/8" high to underside of drawer(when sitting) Condition Report: Light dings and chips throughout. Including some loss to the corners of the drawer, a small"dent" in the top and scuffing to the top. Overall very attractive, the typical wear and use abrasions being somewhat limited and the overall desk being quite well preserved. The bronzes are of medium quality with some pitting and cracks from the foundry process- we believe the mounts are unsigned, though only one sabot has been removed and examined. Original functional key. Some tiny paint fl

CHARLES LIMBERT antique hutch furniture
This Charles Limbert hutch is missing a decorative woodpiece for the glass door and shows some wear on the top surface. But is in otherwise fine shape. The piece appears to be well balanced and structurally solid throughout with no rocking or warping. Although the exact year the piece was created is unknown, the'Limbert Furniture, Holland, MI' stamp located in the pullout drawer might suggest it was crafted between 1906 and 1922, 1906 being the year he moved his operation to Holland, MI and 1922 being the year when Limbert's poor health prompted him to sell his share in the company. 45c447.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk.rp73%28%3E45c447-13d3db88307-0xf6-

Antique Vintage Chair Bar Stool Swivel Seat Kitchen Garage Furniture
This listing is for a vintage shop chair. This chair measures 44 ½” H x 17 ½” W x 13” across the diameter of the seat. It is 30" from the floor to the seat. This chair displays a lot of wear from over the years and there is a rip in the seat. It is also missing one of the foot pieces. This is definitely in need of some restoration but would make a nice addition to any collection. SHIPPING DETAILS· PICK-UP ONLY BUY IT NOW WITH CONFIDENCE! We have an endless supply of stuff. SHIPPING POLICIES· International customers are responsible for all costs to ship including but not limited to cost of packing materials. Insurance, customs fees, carrier fees, cost of fuel to transport package to post office, etc. There are no exceptions. This is not a retail store filled with items in ready to ship packaging. Some items have to be double packed or have a box built to fit. There will be a handling charge for such items. This charge is different from one item to the next and will be indicated within the listing itself as well as during checkout. There is no such thing as Free Shipping. Last time I checked. UPS and FedEx still charged to ship with added fuel surcharges for every package they move and an additional charge to deliver to a residential address. I encourage buyers, especially those who do not ship items regularly, to focus your complaints about exorbitant shipping costs on the folks who are responsible for this: the shipping carriers. Remember that what you pay in shipping is less than what I pay. I do not have a commercial account that requires daily pick-ups. Sellers are not to blame for high shipping costs and would apprecia

In case you are thinking about making an offer on this piece please consider this: Like in most antique stores I can sometimes go to about 10% in giving discounts on items that linger longer on Ebay. My position as dealer is very compatible I have to keep my prices low as possible. There is not that much room for negotiation. I list hundreds of items every month. Most of them sell pretty quick usually within a 3 month period. But. I don't know if it will sell. I often have the“make offer” button placed in the listings. So I do not have to go back every time a listing lingers longer on eBay than usual. It simply is too much work to have to reverse those items. If I can't honor your offer. Please think about this and don't be offended. Just try again, keeping this in mind. Thank you for shopping with us and please take a minute or two to check out some of the other items in this store. ANTIQUE AMERICAN FURNITURE - BYBEE COLLECTION - ONE OF THE BEST COLLECTIONS
American Furniture in the Bybee Collection" By Charles L. Venable. Published by the University of Texas Press in 1989. Auction Catalog of Rare Antique American Furniture & Historrical Items. Colonial
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 An auction catalogue for an auction which took place at Sotheby’s in New York. On 20 January, 2006. As the title says, the auction was for“Important Americana: Including Property from the Collection of Elisha Hanson to Benefit the National Gallery of Art. The catalog is full of beautiful antique items, of the sort you would expect to discover in an old American estate or mansion. Tons of furniture, decorative items, lots of rare silver, and much more. Naïve art, grandfather clocks, folk art, paintings, and much more. Items range from 1700s and 1800s– lots of colonial and early American items. The sale consisted of 608 separate lots, all of which have extensive descriptions, all with full colour photos, and some of them even being full-page photos. Each item has a description, giving details of the ... moreartist or workshop, the work itself, dates, material, and so on. Also details of provenance, and provides an estimated price. This is great for the collector, so you can compare the value of these works with others. Also a great reference, as these artworks were assembled here once, only to be dispersed to different private buyers, most not to be seen in public again for a generation. The colour illustrations are stunning, and it’s like having a gallery or museum on your shelf! A great addition for anyone interested in American history, U.S. art, colonial historical material, and so on. The book is large format, measuring about 8 x 11 inches. It has a glossy cover, and is 484 pages long. The book is used, but in good condition. With only minor shelf wear, the book is in good condition. The glossy pages make this extremely heavy(well over 3 pounds) so the top bidder should add $13.90 postage in Canada, 18.90 postage to the USA. I have other, similar catalogs up now, so check that out too, and save on postage. Please e-mail me if you have any questions, and thanks for bidding!

ANTIQUE SHAKER FURNITURE & INTERIORS -CLASSIC 1937 BOOK BY ANDREWS
Shaker Furniture. The Craftsmanship of an American Communal Sect” By Edward Deming Andrews& Faith Andrews. Published in New Haven by the Yale University Press in 1937. Edition limited to 500 copies. description continues below the picture- DISCUSSION: The first. Limited edition, printing of this classic work. Although there had been some scholarly examination of Shaker community life before the Andrews' book, Shaker furniture had been largely unappreciated. The Andrews, who gained access to many East Coast Shaker communities and were welcomed by the remaining members, were the first to focus not only on how Shaker furniture reflected the inherent tenets of Shaker society, but on Shaker furniture as an important art form worth examination in its own right. They integrated their study of the two aspects, showing how the tenets fed the ... moreart, and vice-versa. The eventual result of this penetration of religion into the workshop" Andrews writes, was the discarding of all values in design which attach to surface decoration in favor of the values inherent in form, in the harmonious relationship of parts and the perfected unity of the whole. Under such conditions, if the design was well conceived, an effort of rare charm was achieved. The ideal of purity, broadly conceived as it was, furnished sufficient justification for such a theory of workmanship. A natural frankness characterized the finished Shaker product. One's primary impression, on seeing an assemblage of Shaker pieces, is that of brightness and lightness more expressive of serene happiness than somber monasticism" This book is also noted for the stark yet beautiful on-site photographs taken by William F. Winter. Walpole Society member and Magazine Antiques editor Homer Eaton Keyes wrote the Preface. DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. 8.5"x11.5" 133 pages, plus 48 black& white plates.
