Governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony. The desk is a reproduction made by the Maddox Table Co. of Jamestown, New York. This desk comes right out of the New England estate. The desk has those wonderful features most folks are looking for, such as all-wood drawers with dovetail corners, and clawed feet. The hardware and locks are the originals that came with the desk, not replacements. The desk was in my family for around 60 or so years, so the desk dates to at least 1950, and it may be older than that- I'm just not sure. The desk is the slant-front style, hinged at the bottom, so it opens up and the front lays flat to become the writing surface; the desk front can be locked. When the desk front is opened and lowered into the writing position, two arms come out automatically to support the writing surface. Inside the desk there are 3 small drawers, and holders for stashing letters and so forth. In the center of the opened desk, inside, there is a closed compartment with no lock; the compartment door is scratched. There are 3 drawers below the writing surface that extend almost the full width of the desk, and each one of them can be locked. These drawers have a graceful bow front(see photos) Above the desk itself is a prominent feature, a bookcase with 2 shelves covered by hinged glass doors that swing out and can be locked. The bookcase doors do not line up 100% vertically when closed, a common problem with these desks. Cylinder Desk This is an antique desk that I had for many years and my daughter used it for several years herself but no longer wants. I believe it is a Eastlake piece. There are 3 drawers and when the cylinder top is rolled back it reveals a work surface which can be pulled outward. The work surface is covered with green felt. This allows you to pull up a chair and work at the desk. At one time there was another piece that was placed on the top of the desk but that has never been with the desk as long as I have owned it. Otherwise the desk is in good condition for its age. These are the measurements for the desk. height-41 1/4 inches. Depth 21 inches, width 35 inches. pull out 19.5 by 30 inches. The head on this one has a small split as shown in the photos. There is dust/grunge, I just wiped this off. It appears to have a shellac finish. It weighs over 7 lbs without packing. I am not sure what the wood is, I am GUESSING walnut or mahogany. This is a great piece of early furniture crafting and will look fabulous cleaned up. I am not sure of the wood. But my GUESS is walnut or mahogany. It is a great piece, well carved. This one has a broken toe as shown in the photos. It is approx. 18 1/2" tall and 10 1/2" wide and about 5" thick side to side.I think this was the leg of a table. Guessing age at late 1800's early 1900's. Here is a wonderful vintage jewelry dresser that will make someone very happy this Valentines day! It stands 40.5" tall and is 19.5" wide. It was hand crafted in Hagerstown MD by the Brandt furniture Co. It features four drawers that slide in and out very smoothly. The drawers are lined with red velvet. The are locks on the drawers but I do not have the keys. This is a solid wood piece(I believe its oak) that has a red oak finish. Im not exactly sure what style it depicts? At first glance it looks French style to me but the pulls look a bit Asian. I'm not typically a furniture guy but this piece is definitely and unique enough where I decided to give it a try. Rare Antique Sign for V.M. Hannan Furniture and Undertaking Livingston Wisconsin
This is one of the most unusual antique signs that I have ever found. It is a painted metal sign and the figure of the person. The sofa, and the word Furniture are embossed! Everything else is flat metal. It is marked by the maker Merchants PMB Co. Kalamazoo, Mich. It measures 19.75"x 13.75" It is nailed to a wooden frame and the frame looks to be very old. The colors are bright and strong. How many old signs have you ever seen that advertised both Furniture and also Undertaking? This sign will likely stir up many comments by those who see it. This is an original old sign and not a reproduction. It is not dated but I would guess it to be from the early part of the 20th century. Don't miss this one! Mahogany Veneer Crossbanding for Longcase Clocks & Antique Furniture total 2.25m
10 pieces of Rich Mahogany Cross Banding Veneer. This antique mahogany cross banding has been cut from old Georgian furniture. It is ideal for longcase clocks. Doors, hoods, cases, and antique furniture. It has been randomly cut to 2.0 mm thickness approx, so it will require fixing, finishing, dressing and polishing. I am showing the clock door to demonstrate what can be achieved using this cross-banding. I have not used colour/stain.This is just oil and French polish. The price of this wood reflects not only it's scarcity but the cost of the band saw blades to cut it. Hit a hidden pin/tack and a new blade will be required. If you doubt this try asking a workshop to cut second-hand timber.
