There is a crack through the bottom side of the box. But it does affect the integrity. I am going to do my best to describe this antique ... morebrass microscope. But as I am not an expert by any means in this area please forgive any incorrect terminolgy. Any questions or information is all welcomed and appreciated. This microscope is made of brass and black metal. All we have done is to dust this piece. So the brass. Although warm appears scratched. It looks really retro as it is. But I would think if you wanted to use it you would need to shine it up. I leave the cleaning of these valuable older treasures to the experts. The base is black and measures 5 1/2" longest) 3 3/4" widest) Base does have minimal surface rust(photo 7) and a screw that does turn. I think this screw may tighten the base into place. Back of base has a round metal plate that I think is brass. It reads: Bausch& Lomb Optical Rochester N.Y. New York City. The Bausch is a little hard to read. The mirror rotates and swings freely. The mirror measures 1 3/4" across. The metal around one side of the the mirror has some age rust(photo 7) One side of the mirror magnifies the other is just regular mirror. The mirror side that does not magnify has some silver loss around the edge(see photo 7) this does not seem to effect the visiblity. The mirror will be removed for shipping as to decrease the risk of breakage. The area that holds the slides is black, the two slide holders are intact with good movement and I think they are brass. The opening in slide stage is 1/2" The underside of the slide plate has a circular dial I believe brass piece. This circular dial has 4 holes, I think they are used to regulate the light that reaches the mirror. This dial moves freely and the largest opening measures 1/2" across. The microscope raises up and down without problems but may need to be lubricated. At the tallest it is 14" retracted 11" The piece closest to the slide stage is marked: Bausch& Lomb 16 mm 0.25 N.A. T

Vintage Brass Magnifier / Microscope Set, Circa 1800-1900's
VINTAGE BRASS MAGNIFIER/ MICROSCOPE SET. 1800- 1900'S A set of unique early brass magnifier/ microscopes. The first small magnifier is a"universal" microscope used as a magnifier for small natural objects. Nice lacquered brass finish. The next magnifier is a"tripod" used for small stationary objectives. An often used as a map magnifier. Nice brass magnifier. The third magnifier, an unusual brass cylindrical"insectoscope" This little instrument consists of a brass cylinder case that measures 2 inches in height and 1 inch in diameter. The actual"livebox" magnifier unscrews from the brass case and slides out. The wall of the livebox has 2 small viewing windows for observation that measure about 1 inch in length and about 5/8 inches in height. The bottom of the livebox has a plastic-like floor to view ... morethe insects or objects by inverting the livebox upright, and this floor can be unscrewed from the brass livebox. At the top of the livebox is the actual eyepiece-magnifier lens, which can also be unscrewed. The magnification is excellent! The lacquered brass finish is in good condition. A similar instrument can be seen in Billing's Microscope Collection, p. 201, Figure 291. This instrument is unsigned but similar instruments were made by a Frenchman, F. V. Raspail. There is no cardboard or leather case for the instrument, just the brass cylindrical case. The 4th magnifier is also a"flea-like" microscope. Brass, twists to raise or lower to magnify- see" thread-like design in the" middle of the scope- see image. As you twist the magnifier. It will magnify the object. See the images with the magnifier lens. The final microscope is a botanical microscope, also known as a"flower" magnifier. There is a part of the magnifier lens missing and the thumb-screw that moves along the arm that extends from the body of the microscope. But it is still a good representation of the time period. Vintage, Miniature, Brass, Field Microscope, Made in Germany
Very nice. Pocket size, field microscope. When assembled it stands just 3.5 inches tall, the cylinder with eyepiece is 2 inches long and 1 and 3/8 inches across. The cylinder appears to be brass with an Bakelite eyepiece. The sturdy base is steel painted black and the mirror is double sided: one side is the actual casing which appears to be polished stainless steel and acts as a mirror while the other is an enclosed glass mirror. I imagine this is to give 2 different intensities of reflected light dependant on the subject to be viewed. The underside of the cylinder has Made in Germany stamped into the metal. see photo) The operation is quite simple, by depressing the 2 spring loaded pins on the sides of the cylinder an opening appears into which the slide is inserted. Vintage Brass Field Microscope with wooden case base
The images are actual photos of the Microscope. The body of the microscope is brass and measures 5 inches in height and extends by one inch. All pieces move freely and join together well. I cannot find any name on the device/pieces only numbers on some. The tweezers do have the word Depose on the top. Three lens eye pieces(Brass) are in the set. One is missing its lens. They are numbered 1. 2, 3. The mirror has some paint lost under the glass. The slide surface glass is clear and chip free. The case is not original to the microscope. I believe it is a reproduction of what the original case looked like. The construction is excellent on the case. Tight dovetail joints and brass screws on the top. The exterior wood is oak. Antique German brass microscope. Marked E. Leitz Wetzlar Germany No. 250088 Very good condition; I do not see anything wrong with it. No scratches, dents or damage that I can see. It came from the estate of a doctor who had a large collection of microscopes. This was on a shelf in his home library. It appears to have been well taken care of. As to whether it is in working condition. My best guess is that it probably is functional, considering where it came from and how it was stored and displayed. I am not a science person, nor an expert on microscopes, and only remember how to use one from high school science classes, but from what I can see, it is in very good to excellent condition, and all the knobs rotate freely and easily. Vintage Antique Model BB Bausch & Lomb Brass Copper Microscope in Original Case
What a great find. Looks like a beautiful museum piece. For it's age I would say condition is decent. Microscope moves and appears to function but the lens are dirty and need to be cleaned. To be fully functional I would believe it needs a good thorough cleaning/ oiling ect. It appears to be mostly complete. Pictures show the different lens and eyepieces that are included. The wooden case has some wear. It has a crack on one side but is still solid and working. The lock is broken and appears the key broke off inside of it. For this item please inspect and study the images as they are your best description. There should be no need for returns but as an antique item like this it sells for AS IS. This is an ANTIQUE Spencer BRASS Microscope. It was given to me by my family doctor in 1955- he had it in medical school. It comes with a very tall beautiful GLASS VESSEL(Bell Jar) enclosure that envelopes the microscope. SEE PHOTOS) The Bell Jar consists of very thick heavy glass with a flat smooth bottom that creates a tight seal. It is 19.25 tall x 11” diameter at the base. And a 9” diameter cylinder. The combination of the vessel and microscope makes for an exquisite presentation. Both have been kept in air conditioned storage for 51 YEARS! The microscope is in very good condition. Mirror is two sided but the strut that holds it to the scope frame is missing. The wooden box says made in Japan on it and has a screw that holds the scope in place and it holds the extra lenses and eyepieces as well.

Vintage Traveling Microscope, Philip Harris, Birmingham, England. Brass
Here we have a Vintage Venier Measuring'Traveling' Brass Microscope manufactured by Philip Harris. Birmingham, England. Background: Like a conventional microscope. A travelling microscope has a head fitted with lenses which can be used to magnify and focus on a small object. The head, however, is mounted on a slider which can be moved along a scale. With the object fixed in place, the head can be manipulated to take measurements of the object being studied. Classically, a travelling microscope uses a Vernier scale, a very precise type of scale utilized for scientific measurements because of its extreme accuracy and ability to measure very small increments. Although the traveling microscope is mobile, it has a number of moving parts and it can be fairly heavy. The scope itself is attached to a cast-iron base and it can be adjusted ... morewith as many as 3 screws. This is a wonderful example of a traveling microscope made by the high quality medical supplier of their day. Philip Harris, located in Birmingham, England. This instrument has a very heavy, japanned, cast iron base, with a calibrated brass traveling track for the scope to slide on. The compound scope has a 5" sliding tube within which is another 3-1/2" sliding tube that holds the ocular. The Brass objective does not have any power or length markings. The black moving carriage that slides along the track has a small venier scale. The carriage also alows for the scope tube to be adjusted in many different directions. There is a locking adjuster and an adjuster to set stop limits on the track. There are no cracks, breaks in this instrument. A very nice example to add to your collection. This working Bausch& Lomb"Contintental" microscope was made in ca. 1897, so it is almost 120 years old. This microscope is a part of medical history. Microscope Body- Wonderful condition on the brass microscope body. It has a great patina though there are some blemishes and small defects. But all below the norm for a microscope of this age. It will probably look great once it is polished/cleaned, but I'll leave that determination to the new owner. Please look at all the pictures for exact condition of the body. All parts seem to move freely. I viewed an onion skin with#2 eyepiece and 2/3 ocular and it focused fine and edges of image were sharp ... moreand clear. But not working. No key. The door was at some point forced open, but all pieces appear to be there. Wood Case- Good condition. Appears to be original. Nice patina. Some blemish of some sort on the top and various scratches on the exterior(See pictures) Very nice vintage handle. Interior is fitted to the microscope. There is a top drawer with vintage scalpel. On the inside of the door are 8 custom holders containing 3 lens cases for the microscope lenses and one of the eyepieces. One of those holders is either missing or is meant to fix something else. You can see in the pictures a small crack on one of the back corners. 1& 2 Eyepieces and 2/3. 1/6& 1/12 lenses. The#1 eyepiece + 1/12 lens gives a 900x magnification. Vintage C. Reichert Wein brass microscope circa 1895 to early 1900's
Vintage C. Reichert Wein brass microscope. It is signed"C. Reichert Wein No. 60067" on the base and measures approx. 11" tall in the closed position in large block letters. It has the standard complement of three objectives: a 7a x 60x. 3 10x and another that says"Reichert Austria No. 57768. All are signed by C. Reichert and are in great condition. Course focus is tension adjustable, rack and pinion. Fine focus is delicately controlled with a knob on the top of the limb.Tension adjustments is with a small thumb screw on the back. The square vulcanite stage has a sub-stage, swings-out Abbe condenser with variable iris control and swing-out filter holder. The piano concave mirror is great on both sides.The original lacquer has some age spots on it. The microscope comes with its own finely made wooden case with matching serial ... morenumber. Inside the case is a small accessory drawer and a pull out microscope cover glasses from this era are also included, as depicted in the attached photographs. The box comes with the original key for the locking mechanism. This microscope is a great piece for any collector of antiques. The microscope weighs 9 lbs. and 14. 5 oz. The box weigh's 5 lbs. and 3.5 oz.

Rare - Vintage Original Antique Bausch & Lomb Physician's Brass Microscope 1885
Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Rochester NY Early version of the Investigator model microscope. C. 1890 The Investigator model was patented by Bausch& Lomb in 1876. And produced into the 1890’s. This model has a double nosepiece and original eyepiece. The optical system produces clear images and good contrast. Coarse focus is rack and pinion. Fine focus with micrometer knob. It moves up and down but gets a little hung up about half way. The original lacquered brass finish has tarnish and is in good overall vintage condition. The instrument is 12 ½” tall when fully closed and 15” when eyepiece is fully opened. It is signed on the stage. Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Antique Vintage Microscope Objective Brass Case - 1
You are bidding on an original microscope objective brass case. Sometimes called a can. From the photos you will see it is unmarked as to maker. It bears the numeral"1" on the top. This will make a wonderful conversation piece or an addition to a collection. The craftsmanship is from a bygone era. Seldom to be found in today's throwaway world. It has a finely threaded screw-on top which screws on and off perfectly. It measures 23.5 mm in diameter and 56.4mm in height. I am reducing my collection and selling other microscope objective containers and an additional objective. Feel free to look at my other listings. I am not an optics or microscope expert.
