It has three lens heads and a mechanism for adjusting the amount of light allowed to shine up through the slide. It measures approximately 13 inches tall when adjusted all the way down by 4 + ¼ inches wide across the base and 5 + ¾ inches front to back at the base. The item up for sale in this auction is a Bausch& Lomb Optical Company Microscope. There is a patent date of February 2nd. 1897 on the micro focus adjustment wheel. I tested all of the lenses using a piece of paper with writing on it, each lens was able to get a fairly clear picture. The mirror does have some blemishes on it and some appear to be permanent. The frame of the microscope is all brass and is in pretty good shape. There is definitely some wear and tarnish on it but nothing major. I can't find any missing pieces and everything appears to be in really good working condition. The microscope will be shipped out in a wooden case along with a box of about a dozen glass slides. Up for sale is a museum quality early 1850's M Pillischer Improved Medical Microscope.It is in unbelievable condition as well as its mahogany case.It is No. 261.This is the lowest number Ive ever seen and cant even find one on the internet near as low.It is just beautiful.The microscope stand 13in tall when compaceted and will expand about 5 more inches.Base of microscope has beautiful engraving in brass stand.It says" M Pillischer London No 261"Inside the case are these other accessories.It contains a brass standing magnifying glass.3 brass magnifying lenses with brass holders,2 optical lenses,a pull out microscope sliding platform,and a pull out slide tray that contains 2 boxes of small slide covers from London and a lot of slide labels.Of the 3 lenses,one is unmarked,one is marked S.T.G.H,and the other is marked W.Watson ... moreAnd Sons London,all 1/2 inch.Beautiful mahogany case is in great condition too for being 160 years old.Both have been well preserved.Case has brass handle on top.Front lock does not have the key and lock seems to be broken but probably easily fixed.Also has copper name plate on front.Mahogany case measures 17 1/2 in high.Shipping is free in the United States via Fedex. Antique Bausch & Lomb Optical Co. Solid Brass Microscope SN #26739 ~ Circa 1897
Up for auction(sale) is a Vintage Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Brass Microscope My clients husband found this microscope in the remains of an old building and cleaned it up very well. Most all the adjustable parts move. Though some are a little harder than others. It is missing 1 of the 3 magnifying lenses that can rotate to any one of the 3 positions. It may be missing other parts that I don't know about. The eye piece does not appear to be the proper one for this scope, but does fit in the chamber. The mirror at the base does have blemishes on both sides. It has many more options than some of the other scopes that I have found from this era. It has 2 patent dates that I can find, one from Feb 1897& one from Aug. 1897. We do have a letter that was written to Bausch& Lomb to find out more information about the microscope. They ... moresent a reply which stated that they do not know to whom it was sold to, but it is circa 1897. The serial number is on the base#26739. It is 14 1/2" Tall x 6" Deep x 4 1/4" Wide I was unable to really see anything as I didn't have the knowledge or the material to test. I'm sure that it does need some restoration. Though it is a great looking decorative piece as it sits. This is the condition it has been in for many years and I did not attempt to polish or take apart to clean. Mahogany wood case with a carrying handle and lock mechanism. The matched grain pattern on the door is lovely. The angled dove tail joints are tight and strong, door hinge is too and the great brass handle. I have never seen hardware like this. Would love to know where it was made, USA, Germany Sweden? Inside the case are several wood racks designed to hold the eyepieces and objective lenses, etc. In addition, there is a pullout accessory drawer with sliding lid inside the case. There are several items inside, storage slides, case with lid and clear slides, several vials and the bright mirror, flat and concave. The microscope is long gone, but the box was worth collecting, it is really nice. Box and items ... moreshown only. Fine box is 13 1/4" tall. 7" wide, and 8 1/4" deep 6 lb 9oz. All original hardware and finishes seem to be old, brass great patina! No key(sorry) for the lock and the hook latch works to secure the door. Baker solid brass antique microscope. Circa 1860. It bears the marking on the base of"Baker, 244 High Holborn, London. It is in the original box, with original key, and I believe the box to be mahogany.beautiful dovetailed working on the box. The box has an accessory drawer for storage of the additional pieces and slides. There are other lenses: 1) 25" 2) 1" 3) 2" as well as additional viewing eye pieces. There are several other attachments that go with this microscope I just don't have any idea what they are. It has been stored away for awhile and will need to be polished and lacquered. I have retired and trying to downsize. This beautiful piece needs to be out where it can be seen and enjoyed.not stuck away in a box. That said, It does have some signs of normal use, including some finish discoloration and loss, this is partially due ... moreto the fact that this Great Scope's Factory Finish is- in part- clear lacquer over an Unusually Heavy SOLID Brass/Bronze Stand or Frame. The lacquer over-coat often get's discoloration over time in spots and patches from human handling. But these areas can be buffed out to an absolutely fantastic- incredible"Golden, shine or even a mirror polish if you want to take the time to do that. Scope works. Focus and Fine Focus work, Mirror spins and revolves, Diaphragm blades open and close easily and look very good, lower stage goes up and down smoothly, tilt works fine, turret revolves just fine. M issing are the 2 hold down pins. To hold a glass slide in place, but these are usually long gone from these Antique Scopes. Side screws for adjustments on either side of the table maybe bent from falling over, or may have come that way, as they match pretty well( I am not sure how perfect any of the lenses are. But at this point in it's life, this Lovely Scope is pretty much definitely going to a Collector/Buyer for Display Only anyway, which brings me to a Main $$$$ Selling Point. This is a very rare Microscope by F.Koristka Milano Signed and Numbered.This was in my Great Grandmother's Attic.And I have no need for it.In it's original box,although there is no key,the paper on the door is tape that she kept it wrapped up over about 100 years.I was told it date's back to the 1800's,but I am not an authority on thisThe pic's are not good it has spots on the camera,the signed part does not have spots,it has his name on both parts that you screw on and off also.Thanks.

Neat. Vintage solid brass E. Leitz Wetzlar microscope with wooden box case. Comes with two eye pieces. One marked 1. The other marked 3. Missing the objective lens. Microscope is marked E. Letiz Wetzlar No. 23756 on the top of the base. Box is also marked 23756. Box is solid. But the bottom is starting to pull away and the inside wooden supports are no longer attached to the case. Key is also missing. See photos for details. Box is also marked D. McFadyen. Microscope measures 10" tall. Box measures 11 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 4 1/4" This microscope came out of estate of a local physician with a long family history of medical doctors.
