This is a very cool all copper and brass steam sterilizer/ sanitizer autoclave for surgical instruments from the turn of the 19th century. Very Steam punk. Marked"WOODWARD CLARKE& CO" Portland Oregon on tag at top of door. Each outlet on the top is marked as well. Two are labeled LEAVE OPEN. One labeled Fill HERE, One labeled THERMOSTAT amd one labeled THERMOMETER. The latch and hinges are solid. The right side has a spicket and a glass sight tub setup, the glass is missing but could be easy replaced. The left side has a sliding vent. The door is about one inch thick and has the original intact cloth or leather gasket. There is an electrial heater eliment that is not wired in located on the bottem of the box. The construction is all copper and brass, I have not cleaned but it would shine bright with a little work. The shelf ... moreinside is also copper and is removable. An industrial thermometer mounted on a laboratory apparatus stand to give a steam punk look while providing a unique thermometer for an office. Laboratory or man cave. The vintage thermometer came from an actual industrial plant and displays what appear to be quite accurate room temperatures. The instrument has not been carefully tested or calibrated. The laboratory stand came from a scientific apparatus warehouse and the pole clamp is a vintage piece of chemistry lab equipment. Has a vintage high tech look while being usefully functional. The stand and base is 21 in. tall with a base that is 8 in. x 4 3/4 in. The thermometer adjusts up and down the pole as desired. Facinating 19th century machine(Optical? and a nice example of precision build from a by gone era. It seemed to resemble some antique examples of spectrometers from the 19th century and found out its a refractometer of water and was invented in paris. Beautiful example of complicated antique mechanical laboratory equipment piece. Two solid brass scopes. One with fixed eyepiece,lenses at both ends with at least 3 take down pieces and mounted infront of some calibrations alined with this scope-a work bed(glass,cast iron,steel) thats moved by a large metal knob,and the other scope which follows directly in line with main scope but is seperated by 4 inches that the bed takes up. one end shows full sized lens and rear shows lens on chrome tube that slides/adjusts inside the brass tube. Its end shows a lens behind a slotted sleeve that adjust vertically ... morein front of the lens via a set screw,the slotted sleeve has a spring so back and forth adjustment is allowed with the set screw. Nothing is broken and nothing appears damaged as all things seems to work and adjust. the surfaces are all very pristine considering the age. Just no abuse or misuse showing(at least any obvious misuse troubles)No Dents. Measurements; stands about 16 inches. About 16 inches long and looks like mostly 1 inch brass for the scopes.Each scope measures about 6 inches with the back scope extending about 5 inches.The brass stand pole with manufactures badge showing initials? Featuring a great textured industrial black finished cast iron that is typical of the period and a very small(about an inch across) 10A-250v electrical plug marked H&H.
