This microscope is inscribed in the leg University of michigan Botany 624(room number) There are a set of serial numbers on the butt end of the microscope reading 370099. Other information on the bottom that can be viewed in the pictures. Im not sure what year this is from, it is listed in both pre 1930 and 1930 to present. Reguardless of its age, if bidding, your bidding on what you see in these pictures. No rust, excellent condition i should add. There are 3 lenses, a 10x 25, 43 x 66, and a 97 x 125? I am pleased to offer this old and original. Bausch& Lomb microscope or other scientific optical device. This instrument was sold by Arthur H Thomas Co. Philadelphia. Scope is in good condition, but does need some attention, and may not be complete. It looks like it is missing its lens or eyepiece. Please note that one bed adjustment knob works smoothly and properly. The other is extremely hard to move. It may only need oil, or it may require more work. The silver on the mirror is diseased and likely will need replacement. The height is approximately 13" tall. The base measures about 5 1/4" by 6 1/4" It weighs 9.5 pounds. The top section is painted brass as is the bed adjustment knobs, bed and mirror frame. The frame looks to be cast iron. I cleaned this piece very quickly. It needs a thorough cleaning. Antique Microscope SPENCER LENS CO. Mod. 12374 Optics are by Spencer Lens Co.
The microscope is missing the two slide holders. The backside of the mirror is missing most of its finish. But is not broken. The optics appear to be ok. I have no way to really test them. The base is cast iron and the rest of the body is brass. The eyepiece is numbered 10. The two lens are numbered 29221 and 28817. The numbers are hard to read. I think I have it right. The name on the base is faded but still readable. The lens swivels easily and snaps in place. The hole scope body rotates back and forth to find your comfort zone. The eyepiece rides up and down on its track easily. Fully extended it is 12 3/4" high. Front-to- back is 5 7/8" and it is 4 1/8" wide. Questions. Comments, concerns. VINTAGE ANTIQUE JUG HANDLE MODEL BAUSCH & LOMB CO. MICROSCOPE WITH CASE
I happen to own a very cool and keenly designed early Jug Handle 1900's Bausch and Lomb Microscope with variable light adjustment mirror on the bottom that can be flipped to amplify light even more. As you can tell there is only one top focal piece which does not seem to be removable or stationary at any position but can easily be raised or lowered. The lower magnifiers are easily switched by turning the mechanism either to the right or left. At present the microscope sits a 11.5 inches but can as high as 14 inches. The items seems to never have been professionally polished and has what appears to be blued iron with brass. The item could clean up really well if you are into that sort of thing. All knobs are smooth and appears to be operational. I have peered down through the whole but have not tried to focus in on anything currently. ... moreBut I can see that there are no major obstructions to doing so. Below the platen, is an aperture control such as the shutter on a camera. It seems to be functional, but is a bit bent slightly at the closed position from a bit of misuse or old age. The Case- Seems to be the original case and is made purely out of some kind of hard wood but can not be totally for sure. If you look closely at the finish. It seems to have set out in a moist area for some time and allow the case to mildew which has dicolored the varnish a bit. Looking at the front, it appears that there is a small label that says Microscope, yet is hard to make out. Some clown, at some time, decided that he'd be a wise guy and appeared to have slightly carved a larger spelling of Microscope on to the wood but is barely noticeable, but I wanted to mention that. The lock mechanism seems to be intact but there is no key. Baucsh& Lomb must have been in Rochester. NY because I can see it on the lower magnifying lenses which also can be removed for examination or replacement. Inside the case. There seems to be some kind of area that would hold more lenses, but I am not able to remove or jar the wood holder away from

For sale is an antique Bausch& Lomb Optical Company Microscope. Complete with original wooden case/box. Microscope seems in good condition other than some discoloration of the brass. Knobs rotate easily, turret section rotates. Bottom mirror is not blackened, lenses work. Microscope is marked"pat. Feb. 16 1897" on top adjusting knob. Comes with 2 eye pieces marked 10& 7.5. Believe this is a medical type microscope. Comes with original wood box which is in fair condition. Structurally intact, but with a fair amount of nicks& bumps. Do not have the key for the lock on front and there are some paint smudges on it. Inside box is in good condition. Has sliding"drawers" for holding lenses or other vials which are in good condition, slide out& removable& replaceable easily. Comes with one metal vial that held ... morea type of oil which appears to have congealed. But holder still interesting and possibly reusable. Has handle on top& marked"from Edward Pennock Optical and Other Scientific Instruments" with his address. Coming from a smoke free home. This was in my father-in-law's estate which we are slowly disposing of. Believe this was his father's who was a doctor was back in early 1900s through 1920s. These were used for microbe photography in the early twentieth century. I found several references in books and catalogs dating between 1914& 1919. I believe one end attached to a camera and the other attached to a microscope. The piece is marked on the lens end: 48 MM Micro Teleplat. Spencer lens Co. On the shutter end. It is has the number 714884, as is marked: Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. No 3. Rochester. NY, USA. The piece measures approx. 5" long. Bausch & Lomb Queen & Co Library Prof Series Microscope circa 1890
This beautiful brass instrument was manufactured by Bausch& Lomb. C. 1890, and sold under a number of brand names. This particular instrument has"QUEEN& CO. PHILADELPHIA" engraved on the brass stage. It is constructed of painted cast iron. Lacquered brass, and nickel plate finishes, the latter to the drawtube. It features rack and pinion coarse focus but no fine focus. It has a swinging tailpiece with plano mirror which is gimballed but cannot slide up and down the tailpiece. This was part of the Bausch& Lomb Professional series. And marketed as the Library model, a microscope of solid and basic construction. This microscope is quite uncommon. The retail ... morevalue has been suggested at around $200-250; one recently sold on eBay for $235: This is a basic. Entry level collectible for anyone who wants to get started in collecting microscopes or scientific instruments. It's also a very nice display piece in its own right. It's been in my possession since the 80's and has been inside the case for most of the time I've had it. Microscope is 9" high. Fully extended 10.25" high. The extension tube on the objective lens is shorter than I have seen in other photos; I don't know the magnification. Comes with original box. Which is 10 3/4" X 6 1/2" X 5 1/2" The box at the back has a crack in the wood from age. See the photo detail.

This is a small Antique Brass Drum Microscope in a wooden box. The metal plate inside the box states‘ Aitchison& Co- Opticians- New York. NY’ An imprint on the side of the microscope states‘ Made in France’ The microscope is 6¼ inches high and in very good condition with minimal scratches or wear. The mirror at the bottom has some black specks on it but is still very useable. There is one glass slide in the box wrapped in presumably a very old piece of cloth. The box shows some wear with some scratches and tape residue. But is otherwise in solid condition. One latch is missing. No returns are accepted. As this item is sold as is. I accept PayPal only. This antique cast metal& brass microscope appears to be in good working condition. But I'm not an expert on old microscopes, so it is being sold"as is" with no returns(and no reserve and no buy it now. The stand has some chips in the finish, with the most noticeable ones being on the"neck" see last photo. Also, the table has a crack on the corner(photo#9) and one of the slide clips has minor plate wear near the screw. The three lenses that come with the scope are 1mm, 4mm& 16mm(all three are marked Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. The scope comes with two mirrors, but the extra mirror may or may not be a B& L mirror, so it may not fit the scope. The scope is marked: B. L. O. Co. PAT. DEC 1 08(photo#11. While the scope is patent dated 1908, I'm not sure what the actual manufacture date is. The opening the ... moreeyepiece fits in is marked: 89669 The wooden box/case is intact, but it has scuffs& scratches, finish wear and a there's a crack on the top(photo#3-the top is also slightly warped.
