click picture to enlarge Here we have a real nice bisque porcelain planter which measures 6 1/2" tall to the top of the children's heads. 7" wide, and 5 1/2" deep. The top rim has a what looks like a manufacturer flaw.the rim has a tight split(has a tan spot as shown) Inside of planter has 4 tacky spots where artificial flowers were placed and bottom had green felt which was removed. There are a few light smudges here and there that didn't come off with soap. I know that there are tricks to removing smudges from bisque that are readily available on the internet. 1875-79 Bisque Figurine Renaissance Boy, All White With Gold Trim #9046
Carl Schneider. Artist Karl Unger, and H ermann Hutschenreuther founded their business in 1859. But since Hutschenreuther was a sleeping partner. His name does not appear in the company name until 1885. The company only produced tableware. Miniature sets for children and a few kitchen utensils, mostly decorated in the cobalt blue'Zwiebel- and'Strohblumenmuster' styles. The company was soon recognized and their first international award was received 1875 at the Exposición Internacional de Chile(Santiago World Fair) One issue that plagued them was that their mark looked very similar to other porcelain manufacturer marks. This lead to the introduction of the first mark that actually was used continuously, the impressed and uncrowned'G' mark with the double-headed arrow which was used from 1875 onwards. This bisque figurine ... moreis amazing in its simplicity and beautiful with its lack of color. The simple gold accents draw the eye. Showing a renaissance boy simply standing in all his finery. With his rosy cheeks and fluffy hat, the detail is amazing. The piece is marked on the back with"9046" and the Unger, Schneider& Cie. mark, along with the"Dep" indicator. This can either mean Depose or Deponiert. The mark is commonly found on German porcelain and means that the company has applied for a copyright. Information on the mark. With date confirmation(shown below) can be found in Image 1.02 at the PM&M website. Figurine measures 11" high. 3 1/2" wide, and 2 1/2" deep. With her head slight down and her golden hair wrapped in a white drape that continues around her neck and bust. There is a PINE CONE on her bust. The pine cone symbol is one of the most mysterious emblems found in ancient and modern art and architecture.
