PAIR ANTIQUE CONTA BOEHME HP FIGURAL CHILDREN IN GARDEN MATCHSTRIKES Here is a fabulous matched pair of hand painted antique Conta Bohme match holders with match strike. One piece features a figural boy holding a watering can standing next to a tree stump with a fresh sprout that he is watering. It is about 4-½ inches tall and 2-¾ inches wide. The stump is hollow to hold matches and there is a strike plate on the back of the stump. The boy is decorated with bright painted flowers on the collar. The match holder is in good condition. However, a section of the watering can handle is missing, there is gold loss on the water can spout and the child’s collar, and there is some scuffing of the paint. It is marked on the bottom with an impressed Conta Bohme shield mark and the number, 420( possibly 4209- the 9 is very faint and may be ... morea“0“ The matching piece features a figural girl holding a spade standing next to a tree stump with a fresh sprout. The stump is hollow to hold matches and there is a strike plate on the back of the stump. The child is decorated with bright painted flowers on the collar. The match holder is in very good condition. However, there is a small chip on the back of the girl‘s hat, there is gold loss on the child’s collar buttons, there is a paint flake on the top back edge of the stump, and there is some scuffing of the paint. Antique Stamped German Conta Boehme? Porcelain Bisque Girl Piano Baby Figurine
~ Antique German Piano Baby ~ Marked"Germany" on base with symbol that resembles a shield This is a large antique German bisque piano baby figurine that is from a deceased relative's China cabinet from the New Orleans area. I am not an expert on all the manufacturers of that era. But I do know that the authentic ones are marked or stamped with a symbol, crest or shield. This one has a stamp and also reads"Germany" on the base, while many others listed on eBay do not. So this one is not"probably" the real deal. IT IS. It is in the style of Conta& Boehme( This baby girl has golden tresses and is holding a cup. The era of this doll falls between the 1850s-1900. She has great, even pastel coloring and big dark-blue intaglio eyes with defined highlights, rosy cheeks with a hint of dimples, and an open smiling ... moremouth with row of molded upper teeth; blonde hair with pointy curls framing the happy face; bare feet with upturned toes; she wears a yellow embossed dress with gold highlights with blue lace ruffle trim and fuchsia pink bows at the shoulders, and she is holding a lavender-pink-colored cup. She is in overall fair condition. Because she is missing a little part of her index finger on her right hand. There is also a hairline on underside of base that slightly and very faintly extends up the bottom sides of the figurine(about 1/2-1/4 inch, please see photo) The hair line is smooth. I do not have the tip of the finger. PLEASE SEE PICS of underside and edge of base. Neither the hair line or little chip next to it is visible for purposes of display. I do not know enough about antique porcelain to know if the missing finger can be repaired/replaced, but I am guessing that this is possible if someone chooses to do so. There are a few scattered specks of spotty discoloration from age, the only ones really noticeable are on her toes. Up for bid and just in time for Valentine's Day. This delightful antique porcelain fairing depicting a couple getting into bed. It reads, The last in bed to put out the light" Though I'm not an expert, I'm guessing this is by Conta& Boehme. It stands approx. over 2 3/4 inches tall, about 3 inches long and about 2.25 across. It does have some condition issues. There is a chip on the front top center, some chips on very bottom base of back of piece, on man's top of leg, crack line mark, you can feel it but it doesn't affect piece. Perhaps it just where surface porcelain came off, I don't know. At the bottom of the bed there is something like a table on the other side. Gorgeous Boy and Girl Figurines by Conta Boehme of Germany. Circa 1840 They both are dressed in white and pink clothing with floral accents. Conta Boehme shield mark to base and what looks like the numbers 1441 on each and a 0. They are in excellent condition the only thing I can see is a firing crack to the left side of her dress. Quite heavy and great quality pieces. Approximately 6 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide at the base. They could also use a good cleaning. I will leave that to their new owner. This auction is for a Rare Continental, German CONTA BOEHME group FIGURINE. Conta Boehme made this basic figural group design with a number of themes ie. chess. Cards and in this case tea party. The figurine is made of a thick rich porcelain and is notably heavy with the piece weighing 740 grams. The figure stands approximately 4 1/2 inches in height and 6 1/8 inches in length. The bottom of the figure has the incised or impressed mark"IV" and the number 3318? not sure if the second number is a 2 or 3 and if the third number is 1 or 4) During my research. I found this piece to be one of the Conta Boehme figures regarded as to be"painted with the same excellence as Meissen" I also found that. There is a small scuff mark on the big toe and on the bottom of the legs as shown in the photos. Also, there is a smooth spot under the right arm that appears to have been repaired. It is hard to see when the baby is sitting, only noticeable when turned over, this is shown in the photos. The last photo shows some discoloration marks on the inside of the fold of the left arm. Made in Germany during the mid-to-late 19th century, most likely by Conta& Boehme. There is an impressed number"2851" on the underside with a couple of other number markings. The base measures approximately 3 x 3.5 inches(7 x 8.5 cm) Stands at almost 3.5 inches(8.5 cm) tall. The weight is nice and heavy at about 12.4 ounces. Although this is a very common fairing, this is a very good, old example. Good Antique Condition: No chips or cracks. The candle is intact on this piece(these were very often deliberately broken off during the Victorian period) But I am not sure if it has had a repair or not. A very rare piece of Conta here. I believe I purchased this one from the authors of the Conta& Boehme book. Janice and Jim Vogel. The figural stands just shy of 7 1/2 inches in height. It's truly a show stopper, between the Puss in Boots, and his dressed sidekick monkey. His thick tail is amazing, winding down between his boots. For condition, first off, it's in need of a good bath. There is chipping to the applied florals at the front. Kitty's hat has a good chip at the left, that's painted to match. A small chip from the base as well. There was originally a metal something that stuck down in his hand, I pictured the hole it would have been stuck. Not of notice when displayed. An amazing Conta& Boehme figural planter. Measuring approx. 9 inches in width, and 6 1/2 inches in height. The paint and gold detailing still remain in fabulous condition. I find no breaks or cracks. Inside the little yellow holder to the far right, I feel a rough spot inside, but the flower is unharmed, so I assume it's in the original making. Since its so detailed, I've made sure to look it over very carefully, as not to miss any damage. These girls are however in need of a bath. Marked the conta shield, and Germany. I dusted her off, but she could use a little more careful cleaning. She has wind blown blonde hair. Perfectly painted intaglio blue eyes and pink lips on her smiling open/closed with molded teeth. Perky ... moreupturned nose, dimples in her blushed cheeks and chin and delicately painted brows. The modeling on these babies is amazing with life like creases in the palms. Pudgy arms and chubby legs and knees. Her pale yellow dress has a low neckline with pale lavender ruffles around the shoulders with big blue bows on each side. Lavender ruffles on sleeves and hem as well and tiny raised gold dots overall on the dress. Her hands are beautifully articulated with raised fore and little fingers. She is holding a bunch of cherries in her right hand. These wonderful figurines were once set on pianos during the Victorian era in the 1800s for decoration and perhaps for the ladies to hang their silk scarves or hankies on while they played and entertained their guests. Up for auction is an adorable little antique Staffordshire or Conta Boehme fairing box figurine. It's marked 218 on the bottom and 237 on the inside lid. But no name. I purchased it at an auction with many Staffordshire figurines- it was called out as a Staffordshire, but I can't verify it. The German manufacturers usually mark with numbers so that may be a clue. I'm leaving it up to the buyer. Either way, its a sweet little fairing box. It measures about 3" tall x 3" wide x 1 3/4' deep. I don't find any chips or nicks, but there is a little hairline in the porcelain on one side. This lovely hand painted porcelain antique was made by Conta Boehme and is marked Made in Germany in green under the glaze on the bottom. This particular mark was used by Conta& Boehme after 1921. This porcelain match holder and striker is of two little girls with hats. One is standing and wearing Papas new hat. The other girl is sitting on a hat. Hopefully the old hat. The match holder is a tree trunk behind the girls and the striker is on the back of the trunk. It is in excellent condition with the exception of a very small chip on the top edge of the match holder on the back. The words on the front below the girls are"PAPAS NEW HT" The A is missing in the word HAT. Please refer to pictures. It has very nice detail and color. This is a very cute Conta Boehme Piano Baby Figurine. As these were made a long time ago a lot of them were not marked. She is wearing a pale yellow and blue dress with pink bows. She is holding a pear in her hand. The pupils of her eyes are indented(I have never seen this before) Cute figurine for the collector. Maybe a gift for Christmas. Condition: Front curl chipped off and touched up with a matching color and few ends on hair possible wear with same color. Wear on bottom, small chip on bow left shoulder and wear on one corner of the same bow. As this is bisque material and doll is old looks to me, slight wear on figurine.
