Unger Schneider Cie Bisque Porcelain Spill Vase 1880's
This is a wonderful example of the Rococo Period work of Carl Schneider. It has the impressed mark with the DEP dating it to 1879- 1887. Also impressed is the number"7758" and a red painted number"114" for the artist that did the hand painting. It shows a boy with a hat holding a basket of fruit and he is holding one apple up high in his left hand.He still has gold remaining on his pants, though the cold painted gold has begun to turn which is normal. Most is still there. The condition is excellent with no chips or cracks and we used a UV black light to chek for any repairs and there were none. The piece measures 7"T X 5 1/2"W X 3"D. Rare Victorian German Bisque Piano Baby Karl Schneider Antique Figurine Figure
This is a very sweet and rare to find German bisque baby created by the Karl Schneider factory c1880-1910. He is one of the nicest I have had to sell. An adorable handpainted face! He is in excellent condition with no chips or repairs and measures just under 9 inches wide by 5 inches high. Marked on the bottom with impressed numbers of 10527, Germany and the Karl Schneider factory mark. He is a gorgeous baby for the collector! Carl Schneider Bisque Piano Babies - Mid to late 1800's (G103)
I was recently contacted by an Ebayer from Germany who told me this pair of Piano Babies bears the makers mark of Carl Schneider. These were made in Germany in the mid to late 1800's. Two of the leading manufacturers were Gebruder Heubach and Carl Schneider. These are in what I would call Very Good Condition for their age. They measure approx. 5& 5 ½’ High. My items are described and photographed to the best of my ability. I am not an antique/ collectible dealer so please read my descriptions and view the attached pictures. This figure was produced by Carl Schneider, one of the major German piano baby makers during the Victorian era. He is in good condition for age with all toes and fingers accounted for. I find no major chips or repairs that I can see. This is an original matching pair of Victorian era. Hand-painted bisque porcelain busts of a girl and a cavalier boy that is circa 1880's- 90's. This pair of charming bisque figures are unmarked. Judging from the technique, colors, and quality of this small busts I would say that they could have easily have been made by the GEBRUDER HEUBACH factory in Germany, but you can be the judge of that yourself. These delicately modeled antique bisque figurines features a elegant Victorian girl in a beautiful bonnet and handsome young Cavalier. Both are done in a bright jewel like pastel colors. This pieces is in very good condition and almost no wear to the paint at all. There is only one very small chip to the back of her bonnet as can be seen in the images. Antique(german) bisque figurine of woman sitting on sled. It measures approx. 6"h x 6"w x 2"d. White base color-w- gold accents. Markings on back base are for Unger Schneider. Circa. 1880. Nice victorian form. Condition is very good with no cracks or chips. There is slight wearing on some of gold accent. There are general production/ roughness flaws. This is a lovely pair of German antique figurines. They are approx. 6” tall. They are in excellent condition with the exception of the boys' flute& right thumb. Each figurine has a hole on the side& crackle in the back of the chairs(from original/age) There are a few typical manufacturing flaws from this era such as air bubbles. Dark specks, and glaze flaws. There is maker's marks on the back of the chairs including"Dep Germany 11981" Based on my research. It appears that these are from the late 1800's. And a little dirt spot on the back, this figurine is in excellent condition for possibly 150 years old! Even the delicate letter& ribbon in his hat are completely intact. Arrives very well packaged. Antique 1880 - Unger Schneider Bisque Piano Baby Figurine Germany
Unger. Schneider Bisque Piano Baby Figurine- 1880 Unglazed and unpainted Bisque Porcelain Figurine 6.5 Long x 2.5 Wide x 3.5 Height BEAUTIFUL! Missing finger tip(see last photo) does not diminish the beauty of this piece. Made in- Gießhübel. Germany Piano baby is a collector's term. About 1880. The well-decorated home had a shawl on the piano. Bisque figures of babies were designed to help hold the shawl in place. They range in size from 6 to 18 inches. Most of the figures were made in Germany. Carl Schneider(who had worked at the Wallendorf factory for some time) together with modelling artist Karl Unger and businessman Hermann Hutschenreuther founded their business in 1859. At first the company only produced tableware. Miniature sets for children and a few kitchen utensils, mostly decorated in the cobalt blue'Zwiebel- ... moreand'Strohblumenmuster' styles which sometimes included gilding. But unlike many other facilities they did not simply copy existing designs but rather used their own creativity and started with export fairly early, which was soon rewarded as the first international award was received 1875 at the Exposición Internacional de Chile(Santiago World Fair) The success also showed a problem as the first marks that had been used looked similar to the marks used earlier by the factory in Gießhübel. This lead to the introduction of the first mark that actually was used continuously. The impressed and uncrowned'G' mark with the double-headed arrow which was used from 1875 onwards. Following the increasing popularity due to further awards during the Exposition Universelle(Paris World Fair) in 1878 it was decided to have the mark officially registered. The registration was filed on March 3rd 1879 at the Herzogliches Landgericht Gräfenthal(Ducal District Court) and the first items showing the mark carrying the'Dep. addition were seen at the World Fair 1879 in Sydney. This is a pair of nicely made Unger Schneider Boy and Girl Spill Vase Figurines with Cats and a Dog. Pastel colors: blue. Yellow, purple, green. The maker didn't finish painting the back of the figurines spill vases. CONDITION: gold bead missing on the boys shirt/jacket, each figurine has a small spill vase and on both it looks like the maker didn't finish the bows or they are chipped, not sure(see pic 10) wear on boys front left shoe. Adorable German bisque piano baby in light blue gown with white bib holding a ball. He measures 6" long x 2-1/2" high x 2" wide and is unmarked. Most certainly made in Germany possible Schneider or Heubach. The condition is very good with no chips. Cracks, nicks, touch-ups or repairs. I am not a expert, but there is appears to be a slight mold flaw on the underside which does not affect the piece(see pics) The molding details are very good. Great addition to your collection! Carl Schneider Grafenthal Numbered Bisque Figurines Vintage Collectible Statues
This listing if for a very early set of white and gold ceramic figurines. The young man is holding a violin but the bow has broken away and he also has a repair on the fence to the left of his leg. The bottom looks a little odd but I think that was done during his creation. The young girl also has damage as the very tip of her hobo stick seems to be gone and someone has repaired the bottom of her base as I see traces of glue. They will stiil display well. These items were part of a box lot that was purchased at a local antique auction and came from a 100 year old estate. They are in decent shape for their age. They are both marked on the back with the same symbol(a musical instrument or a like a C with two lines running down the middle and then number 6914. I can see no damage at all on this charming piece. It measures 5" tall and 8" wide. Depicting a pretty Victorian young girl holding a butterfly net with her eyes on a yellow butterfly. She is standing full length in a yellow and blue dress with raised gold bead decoration. Her face and features are very finely painted as the antique Heubach pieces are known for. Attached is a vase that depicts a tree trunk covered with Dogwood flowers and branches. Some dark paint loss to the branch and on some raised swirl decoration. The mark was used between 1879-1886. The mark apparently indicates the maker to be Porzellanfabrik Unger. Schneider& Cie. of Gräfenthal. It is in very good shape. The paint is fading in places, but there are no visible cracks or chips. This figurine is a little boy with a pair of pliers that is getting ready to pull the tooth of his dog. Señorita, that accompanies this Troubadour. I will combine shipping if you win both. They were made in the Thuringer region of Germany. The DEP number indicates these were created sometime between 1861 and 1887. These belonged to my late aunt. She had them appraised at some point after Troubadour's repair and wrote that he was appraised at $85.00. She also wrote 2 other numbers on the paper. The number 61 and the number 931. My aunt was in Germany a few times. She traveled the world with her son and probably bought these when she was there. Fully marked and wonderful! Hard to find these old Carl Schneider german bisque figurines. This darling baby in the pram is in excellent condition. Dates to the late 1800's to the early 1900's. Beautiful detail. Measures: 9" in length. 5" in depth and a tad over 8" in height. Nice large size, displays beautifully. See closeup photo of the mark.
