Antique German Porcelain Woman Cherub Putti Cupid Dresden Flowers Group Figurine
~ Antique German Figurine ~ This is a very lovely handpainted German porcelain figure with fine modeling. Superb coloring, and exquisite porcelain applied flowers. A beautiful maiden sits atop two decorative tasseled pillows, and she is helping Cupid as he is struggling to climb up next to her. Cupid's bow and arrows are on the ground at their feet, and the woman holds one golden arrow in her hand. The figure is a nice large size measuring 8 1/2" tall by 7" wide. And it is in excellent condition aside from arrow has tip chip and a few tiny nicks to flower petals/leaves, very minor. Please scroll down the page to see additional photographs of this item. 2 18th CENTURY ENGLISH BOW ORNATE PORCELAIN PUTTI FIGURINES c1760s Presented is a lovely pair of English porcelain figurines made by BOW and dating to circa 1760-65. The male and female figures are both seated upon a stump and are embracing a flowering vine. Each figure is displayed on a rococo scroll base applied with moss and flower blossoms. The wine colored paint and the blue flowers and sash complement each other well. The green leaves and moss provide a pleasant backdrop for the yellow. Blue and pink flowers. Both figures are in a relaxed position, seemingly enjoying the day. Overall. The figures are in good condition considering their age. The female's arm is broken off, but is included in this sale and can be easily repaired. The flower on her head has been ... morereapplied and her hair has been repainted. A flower has been painted on her head to no doubt cover up a chipped area where a wreath was probably attached in the past. Both bundles of flowers have been completely broken off in the past and then glued back on. Both bases have had one leg break off and be repaired. The single leg and the underside of the bases has been repainted. Both figures have some leaf tips and flower petals that are broken; some edges have been painted so the chips are less noticeable. There are no maker's marks on these pieces. The female is 5 inches high; the male is 5 1/8 inches high. Good luck and bid with confidence. Rare smaller Meissen Porcelain Figure.M 104 91"Love Bound" A LOVELY MEISSEN CUPID PUTTO TIED UP. This"Love Bound" German figurine depicting the god Cupid dates from the 19TH CENTURY. Cupid is the god of desire. Erotic love, attraction, and affection. As you can see by viewing the pictures. Our poor little putto sits on a on circular grassy pedestal. The perimeter of Cupid's pedestal is painted in beautiful hues of blues and pinks and accented with gold draping and a sea shell design. This little angel and mighty cherub is sans clothing with only a pink/mauve cloth covering him. His hands and small purple and white angel's wings are tied behind his back. His facial expression show discomfort at being put into such a helpless position. His hair is wavy and detailed. They don't make porcelain figures and figurines ... morelike this any more! Very good condition- no cracks. One of the cherub's hand shows signs of previous repair. The top of one of his feet is chipped as is common for these 19th century Meissen antiques. Underneath are the clear marks used between 1875 and 1900- The Meissen crossed swords in underglaze blue. First quality. Incised M 104 and small 91 impressed in the base. On top are two winged Putti holding a floral garland of the most exquisite flowers. On the top are the makers Swords Marks as seen in the pictures. This mirror measures 13” tall 10 1/4” wide. LARGE sized great display appeal! Condition: good for its age- it does have a few chips to the garland flowers but not bad and the wings on the cherubs have been repaired on top and one of the top cherubs has a missing wing but only can be seen from the back side. Also one of the cherubs on the side has had a leg glued back on. Also the ribbon on the very bottom has a piece missing but not very noticable! This very well detailed figurine of a Greek Mythological writer is holeing a pen in one hand and a putti cherub in the other. It has makrks that I am uaware of possible Dresden or Meissen era. It is mainly white with gold robes. It has a Greek key deign around the base. The figurine measures 9 1/4 inches high. The tip of the pen is missing. Other then that it's in great shape. The last mark is actually white it came out a funny color but it was a close up shot.

Antique Victorian VOLKSTEDT LADY PUTTI Porcelain Plaque 19c German Bisque Figure This amazing high relief bisque plaque is attributed to Volkstedt German. Circa late 19th century. And features a classical maiden and her resting child. Made as part of a four seasons series. This one appears to be"A utumn" and has the mother and her child resting atop bales of hay. Excellent quality and attention to detail. One of the nicest plaques I have had the pleasure of listing. Approx. measurements of the plaque is 10 3/4" in diameter and approx. 2 1/2" deep. Excellent condition with minor age appropriate wear. The only thing I see that may be wrong, is the piec e she is holding in her hand. Is bit rough on bottom. From the photo of a similar one sold at Christie's(see note below) it looks like she is supposed to be holding a ... moresickle in her hand. It is not something you would not even notice unless you were looking at both plaques at same time. No other chips cracks or repairs. Colors are a bit brighter in photos than they are on actual plaque. Although unmarked. The plaque is definitely of German origin and most likely Volstedt. ANTIQUE FIVE SENSES Figurine Figural Group Putti Puttis Porcelain Meissen This is a charming piece! The only problem was trying to determine who manufactured this work of art. I did my research and apparently. Dealers are confused too! I've seen it listed under three different manufacturers. Ebay won't allow me to list the three different possibilities, but I do strongly believe it to be Meissen because of the blue crossed swords. Please look closely at the photographs and decide for yourself. I certainly welcome expert opinions too! No matter the manufacturer, everyone titles it"The Five Senses" So that aside, this porcelain figurine is in great shape for it's age. There are five putti figures, each one symbolizing one of the five senses. The top is a putti is holding a glass of wine(taste) Below are four more puttis; ... moreone is holding a bee or wasp(touch) one is holding a mirror(sight) one is holding a conch shell(sound) and one is holding a rose(smell) Definitely made by a top notch manufacturer. One tell is that each finger and toe is individually sculpted and painted. Detail only reserved for the high end market. Surprisingly, all fingers and toes are intact, no breaks, chips or repairs. The only flaw I can find is on the very top of the putti holding the wine goblet is a small chip off a leaf. It's not terribly noticeable and I've taken a photo of it(see image#8) It measured 10 1/4 inches high by 6 to 8 inches wide(6 inches for the base but some of the putti's arms or legs stick out) On the underside you can see the blue crossed swords. Soft paste Porcelain Putto representing Spring(one of the Four Seasons) with applied leaves. Florets with egg-yellow& black centers, braided hair and minimal additional enameled decoration on a plain base with very minor damage and dating from the late 1750s or 1760s(for full details, continue reading below) Welcome to a Special Sale Listing and. enjoy! ITEM DETAILS: Wonderful early English porcelain figurine of a child with braided hair carrying a basket of flowers on a simple base adorned with leaves and flower heads(symbolic of Spring in a four seasons theme) The young person is leaning against a short tree stump and wearing puce and soft blue drape around her left hip. The figurine is well painted with her brown hair finely detailed to accent her long braid formed into a circle and ending in a tight knot(see close-up photo) Her brown ... morehair is not painted with a brush but instead scratched with a fine needle to remove some coloring so that one can see both individual strands and braiding. Her face is also expertly painted with her eyebrows again painted with a single hair as a brush and painted in brown and made from placing 12 to 15 short curving brush strokes each. Her eyes have black pupils set within brown irises and each also has a small red tear duct in the corner. The girls nose has her nostrils outlined in light brown and her lips are colored blood red. Other details include small applied flowers with six pedals and bright yellow(egg yellow) centers topped with a tiny dark blackish-brown dot. Other important characteristics include two distinct shades of green on the applied leaves: a common green(translucent grassy green) and a bluish-green(weak turquoise green) Some of the iron red flowers were painted using a fine single hair brush and taking 25 to 30 individual brush strokes. The figurine is solid and not hollow-formed and so it feels heavier than others its size that are not solid. Large and unusual centerpiece or just decorative porcelain sculpture. I don't recognize the marks, but I'm told it could be Czech or German, c. 1910-25. Absolutely stunning with no damage. Antique Continental Porcelain Cherubs Putti Wall Pocket.
This auction is for a nice mid to late 19th century Continental porcelain large wall pocket. Hand painted and applied with two well modeled cherubs or putti along with ribbons, bows and flowers. The pocket is in a form of a large cone shell. Unfortunately this piece is unmarked. However the quality of the porcelain and decorations suggest that it was probably made in Germany, Austria or France, but not absolutely sure. A heavy decorative piece of antique Continental porcelain that has a few minor issues. While it is in overall good, age appropriate condition, there are some minor losses of flower petals, a tiny chip on the very end of the wing on one of the cherubs and a hairline on the other wing that looks more like a manufacturing flaw, a tiny chip to the very end of the ribbon and a very tiny chip to the very bottom of the cherub's ... moresecond toe. The majority of the described flaws are not easily found. The wall pocket measures approximately 11.5" tall and is about 6" wide. Please see pictures for more details. A c1920 Antique German Volkstedt Porcelain Figure, Cherubs-Putti Fighting Boar
For auction is a fine antique Volkstedt blanc-de-chine porcelain figure depicting three cherubs or putti fighting a boar. Item is very well sculpted. And is comparable Meissen and to other fine German porcelains. This is a most unusual representation of these mythical creatures, and it may have some allegorical reference. Reverse of base has blue underglaze mark used by Volkstedt around 1920. Spear is made of wood; this is a replacement, and the original was likely made of metal. Note that this item was originally a lamp(factory made) and sits on a brass base which once supported a rod and a fixture; the item looks fine, however, with or without the base. Item measures about 7 inches(17.8 cm) tall, and is about 8-1/4 inches(21.0 cm) tall with the base. Note that this is an imperfect example of this piece. The standing figure is missing both ... moreof his pinkie fingers. And the kneeling figure is missing one pinkie finger. Also note crack on leg of standing figure, possibly a manufacturing flaw. Regardless, this is a beautiful piece as it sits, and would be well worth the effort to restore. This is an antique soft paste glazed porcelain Italian pottery figurine featuring two winged cherubs or putto. One is playing a lyre lute and the other has a horn or wind instrument. The piece is signed on the underside incised"CG. BASSANO" The cherubs are atop a beautifully patterned plateau with raised scrolls and dart embellishments impressed into the ceramic. They are leaning against a baluster fence. They have the finest handmade details of wavy hair, fingers and toes, feathered wings, facial features, and strategically draped ribbon sash on their bodies. The condition of this item is very good, noting that the end of the little horn was broken off but is not noticeable. I actually have had this piece on my shelf at eye-level for a little while now, and hadn't noticed the flaw until just now upon final inspection for condition ... morereport. Height 5.5" base diameter 4.25" The work is much finer than other Bassano pieces I have seen. Exact age unknown, but I would guess more than 60 years old. This would be beautiful under a glass dome. It is done in the early Bassano ceramic arts quiet French style with no color, as was fashionable for elegant and highly sophisticated interiors of 18th century Paris society. ABSOLUTELY NO RETURNS. And features a classical maiden and her child gardening. Made as part of a four seasons series. This one appears to be"Spring" and has the child offering his mother flowers as she tries to garden. Excellent quality and attention to detail. One of the nicest plaques I have had the pleasure of listing. Approx. measurements of the plaque is 10 3/4" in diameter and approx. 2 1/2" deep. Excellent condition with minor age appropriate wear. There is a small chip on the back where there looks to have been a wire strung through it to hang it. There is also an indented place on the bottom edge but this is from the making. All minor. No other chips. Cracks ... moreor repairs. Although unmarked. The plaque is definitely of German origin and most likely Volstedt. A complete set of 4 sold at auction at Christie's in 1998 for more than $4500 usd. Dresden style Century The compote-centerpiece depicts two little boys. One with bright blue eyes the other with grey-blue eyes frolicking about the center tree decorated in 3D flowers. This work of art is hand painted with gold highlights and many floral decorations. There is a missing leaf tip and a few missing petal tips, which is typical for a piece this age. They are barely noticeable. I have tried my best to capture these areas in the photos. On close inspection by zooming into the photos, you will discover these flowers with small pieces missing; plus one flower with a missing petal. The reticulated bowl is also hand painted and decorated with applied ... moreflowers. And is removable from the base. When in place on the pedestal, the bowl is solidly supported by the tree. The underside of the base is marked with a blue crown and shield above the name Von Schierholz. These marks and signature are rather fuzzy- only slightly clearer than the photographs show. There is also a green circle with the words MADE in GERMANY. This auction is for an antique German porcelain vase made by Sitzendorf. Vase is in the shape of an egg with applied flowers. Leaves and vines. The egg is held by 3 winged cherub or putti figures and signed on the bottom as shown. It measures 7 1/4" tall by 7" at the widest point. There is some minor chipping to a few of the leaves, which is common. Otherwise, the condition is great with nice detail. The photos show it well. Child, with a wreath of wheat and flowers on his head and in his lap is for sale. In very good condition, there is a chipped little finger, photo 8 and it is possibly missing a green ball, photo 11, that decorates the front of the wreath, hard to tell even under magnification.
