$17.00 Shipping Location: Sparta, United States For sale is a rare treat- a needle case or etui made by Meissen around 1750. A much nicer version than most one sees even from Meissen! It has six hand ... morepainted top notch Watteau style scenes on it as well as some relief design to the paste. Four scenes are on the sides of the piece and are larger- all include a couple in a landscape surrounding and the last two scenes are smaller- one at the top and one at the bottom. The top one is of a lady with a sheep and the bottom one of a lady with a fan(I think) The scenes are of superb quality! Nice raised design to the paste around the scenes and nice metal mounts- not sure if they are silver that has tarnished a bit. A gold wash or a low grade gold. Not clue on that stuff but certainly not something cheap! The box is in amazing condition- no problems at all except for a few tiny firing specs from the making and normal on the early pieces. The etui is not marked which is the norm! It is about 4 inches tall and 0.75 inches in diameter. GERMAN PORCELAIN MEISSEN / DRESDEN STYLE MONKEY BAND ‘CONDUCTOR’ No 693 c 1880
This‘Monkey Band’ figurine is one of a set of four that I am listing in four separate listings this week. They represent models 693. 694, 695 and 696 in this set. This one bears the underglaze incised number‘693’ on the base. I am listing each one separately in order to give collectors the opportunity to fill in any‘gaps’ in their collection of these figures. But, in each case, I have provided one photo showing all four of these lively musicians so that they can be seen together. The four comprise a flautist, a violinist, a trumpeter and a conductor, all made of heavy hard paste porcelain. The original‘Monkey Bands’ were reputedly first produced by the great Meissen factory about 1753-5 and were the result of a commission given to Meissen’s greatest figure modeller. Johann Kaendler who created a 22 piece‘orchestra’ of these wonderful figures, ... moreeach distinguished with marvellous individuality and wittiness in concept. They were immensely popular and much copied by other porcelain factories right through the 19th Century. I have been informed by a kind fellow eBayer(4/2/13) that these figures are from a Kronach factory in Upper Franconia. Germany, belonging to R& E Pech. I have confirmed that the mark appears on page 273 of Ludwig Danckert's invaluable'Directory of European Porcelain' The date is correct. This one is the‘Conductor’ He is extremely well modelled and painted in fine detail. He is conducting with visible enthusiasm! He carries an underglaze‘blue scissors’ mark. I am much indebted. As always, to Mr Geoffery Godden’s superb“Guide to European Porcelain”1993. On page 98 of that book he illustrates the‘scissors’ mark and reveals that it“occurs on late nineteenth century Dresden-type porcelains such as the Monkey Band’which are almost certainly of German origin” The conductor is beautifully painted in rich enamels. With a blue coat with a pink lining and flowing neck cloth over a fine flowered waistcoat and yellow breeches. No shoes of course! His curved monkey feet are shoeless. His c

Antique 19th Century Porcelain Bust Kinderbust(Meissen style) This is a 19th century kinderbust. Purchased for $850 in 1998 from a reputable dealer in Southern California. Her receipt from that purchase has her labeled as"Saxony/Prussia's Daughter" She is from the same estate as the Meissen plates and figurines that we have listed also. She is absolutely lovely. With delicate skin coloring from her forehead to bodice, flushed cheeks, tiny painted hair peeking out the back of her bonnet and brown eyes. She is wearing a very detailed print gown with a turquoise sash across it. And the flowers on her chest are in excellent condition, we can find no chips on them. Her bonnet and gown. As well as the base are painted with gold. The red bow at her neck is articulated. With all four pieces coming up off of the main body of the statue. ... moreThe plume on her bonnet has broken off. But as you can see it is a clean break and the plume fits back on perfectly. See close-ups please. The interior of the plume has thick copper pieces in it. The base of the statue is slightly rough with a hole in the center. It looks as though this was originally glued( onto a larger base. For an item that is from at least the 1800's. She is in great shape. She measures 6.75" tall. Widest point is 4.5" across. Base measures 2.25" across. She weighs 1 lb. 5 oz. before any packaging. This is a vintage ceramic figurine piece of two cherubs playing a flute and a mandolin on a decorative shell with flowers. Hand painted, great condition no chips or cracks, I think this is a Meissen style or replica piece, there is a mark on the bottom of two crossed swords aver the letter R, this is a similar mark as Meissen but there are a few little differences. Im not sure of the mark, I would think it is either a similar companies mark or is an imitation mark. Piece is about 7 inches tall.

A lovely pair of hand painted figural sweetmeat dishes. A male and female figure are reclining while holding an open bowl used for sweetmeats or other delicacy. These are reminiscent of Meissen porcelain but are unmarked so I am not certain of the manufacturer. Eacy stands 5.5 inches tall and measures 7 inches wide. Excellent condition- no wear to the decoration or repairs. The only flaw is the tip of the lady's thumb has been chipped(see photos- quite inconspicuous)

Meissen Style Antique Figurines of Egg Seller Girl and Wheat Harvester Guy
Presented for auction is a pair of Meissen figurines of an egg seller girl and a wheat harvester guy. The egg seller carries a basket full of eggs. The wheat harvester guy carries a sickle on his shoulder that he uses to chop down the crop. They both measure approximately 5 1/2" high. 2 1/2" wide, and 1 1/2" deep. On the bottom of both figurines is a blue undercoat that appears to be blue swords. This blue undercoat swords are hard to make out. Across the blue undercoat is a line carved in the porcelain that appears to be a sword as well. Again, it is hard to tell. Underneath the female figurine is an"L" and underneath the male figurine is a"S" I have no idea what those letters mean. The egg seller girl has the following colors: red, blue, orange, light green and cream. The wheat harvester guy has the following ... morecolors: tan, brown, white, and cream. These multi-colored figurines are gorgeous.

Figure measures about 5" tall. It is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs. There is what looks like a tiny, pinhead-size flake to color on back side of stump behind boy. There are some micro flecks to the sharp bottom edge of the base. Gold trim around bottom is in excellent condition with no apparent wear. Figure is marked on the base with a blue underglaze mark that I cannot make out, partly due to it being on a slightly bumpy part of the porcelain base.
