This auction is for an Art Deco black ceramic cat flower holder with faceted green glass eyes. This beautiful classic Art Deco design feline stands 6" tall. This piece has a very old. Small chip to the very tip of its right ear(please see photograph) and what appears to be an abrasion to its underside but this may be a firing flaw, as it is surrounded by glaze. There is also a small chip or flaking of the glaze to the right, top edge of the square flower container.

Two Large Antique Staffordshire Lion Dogs Reddish Brown& White w Glass Eyes Black& Yellow on Face Marvelous dogs 19th Cent. Definitely from one of Finest Factories: Look at Detail on Face DESCRIPTION Antique Staffordshire Lion/dogs in wonderful condition except for a hairline flaw that is completely unnoticeable on one of the dogs front legs and a white mark on the red tongue of one dog. The line does not go around the leg. Only about 1/8th of it. It has been there since I purchased these lovely animals from England 25 years ago and has not increased in size. The white spot could be easily covered but I would never do that as these animals are in original condition and the value would go down. The colors are exceptionally bright. And they look wonderful on a mantel because of that. The glass eyes sparkle and are yellow with black ... morepupils that have no damage. I have always collected Staffordshire and these are among the most unusual pieces I have ever seen and the largest as well except for the height of the more common Staffordshire sitting Span el. The mouths are both very interesting. The animals have bright red tongues. Black eyebrows nose and whiskers with yellow around the mouth. Tails are outlined in black; face is white and there is white on the legs. Black hair like designs are scattered irregularly on the figures; paws are reddish brown. These large animals are 14.5" long and 11" tall. These are large and unusual pieces. I have never seen ones like them. When these lion dogs were made there were Staffordshire factories throughout England. They all differed in quality. What makes me believe that these figures were from one of the finest factories is how unusual they are. Dalmations are also seen quite frequently but these are truly unusual. Description: This is a very large and stately pair of Staffordshire dogs with their original glass eyes. They stand 13 1/2 inches high and are 11 1/2 inches long. They were made in the second half of the 19th Century. My best guess would be ca. 1870-80. Please check out my other pair of medium sized dogs up for auction. Condition: I have provided several photos of the same pose taken with different apetures and shutter speeds to help in describing these dogs. I am very picky with my condition reports as I know how critical this is to on-line bidders. These dogs have the typical all-over wear to gold from handling. The glaze shows light to moderate crazing in some areas. Also very typical. There are a few overglaze bursts but they do not catch the eye when viewing the dogs. RARELY SEEN Pair of Staffordshire White Lions w Glass Eyes Gold Touches Sitting Down Absolutely gorgeous- never seen a pair like them"Best Gold" used circa 1850 Description These are large Staffordshire lions 12" long by 10" high. They have a placid lovely expression that makes you feel good as if they were relaxing on a sunny day, They are beautifully crafted: the noses are painted black. The eyes are orange glass with a black pupil. The lions have black whiskers and a black mouth which has an O shape. They are rimmed in black and their gorgeous manes haves streaks of gold in them. The more I describe them the more I love them. Now. I am aware that Staffordshire was made for the up and coming middle class in England but these creatures have an aristocratic look that somehow sneaked in. They honestly have an expression ... morethat speaks to you. Not all Staffordshire figures do but I tend to collect the more expressive ones. Condition- Excellent to very good antique condition. One of the lions has a hairline crack on the back of the body near the bottom; It can be seen in the back view on the right hand lion) and what looks like two hairline cracks on the base at the back. Otherwise no peeling. No apparent damage of any kind, no smells. There is a tag on the bottom of one of the lions that says: Hudgkins Gallery. There are several spots of restoration including much of the front right leg and back left leg and paw. There seems to be restorations and overpaint to the hat brim as well. Offering for your consideration a vintage French Faience cat or kitten figurine from the DESVRES faiencerie. This handsome figure is decorated with little flower sprigs and also with an armorial French Crest. His back is embellished with a classic. Rich Rouenesque design. Kitty has a pleasing facial expression and wonderful green glass eyes. He is posed seated with his tail curled around his body. He stands 6 1/2" tall and is in mint condition. As is sometimes the case in hand painted French pottery. This piece slipped through unsigned by the painter. N.B. The painters were paid piecemeal for each individual piece which they completed and sometimes forgot to sign their work. It is guaranteed to be of old Desvres manufacture.
