GERMAN PORCELAIN MEISSEN / DRESDEN STYLE MONKEY BAND ‘CONDUCTOR’ No 693 c 1880
This‘Monkey Band’ figurine is one of a set of four that I am listing in four separate listings this week. They represent models 693. 694, 695 and 696 in this set. This one bears the underglaze incised number‘693’ on the base. I am listing each one separately in order to give collectors the opportunity to fill in any‘gaps’ in their collection of these figures. But, in each case, I have provided one photo showing all four of these lively musicians so that they can be seen together. The four comprise a flautist, a violinist, a trumpeter and a conductor, all made of heavy hard paste porcelain. The original‘Monkey Bands’ were reputedly first produced by the great Meissen factory about 1753-5 and were the result of a commission given to Meissen’s greatest figure modeller. Johann Kaendler who created a 22 piece‘orchestra’ of these wonderful figures, ... moreeach distinguished with marvellous individuality and wittiness in concept. They were immensely popular and much copied by other porcelain factories right through the 19th Century. I have been informed by a kind fellow eBayer(4/2/13) that these figures are from a Kronach factory in Upper Franconia. Germany, belonging to R& E Pech. I have confirmed that the mark appears on page 273 of Ludwig Danckert's invaluable'Directory of European Porcelain' The date is correct. This one is the‘Conductor’ He is extremely well modelled and painted in fine detail. He is conducting with visible enthusiasm! He carries an underglaze‘blue scissors’ mark. I am much indebted. As always, to Mr Geoffery Godden’s superb“Guide to European Porcelain”1993. On page 98 of that book he illustrates the‘scissors’ mark and reveals that it“occurs on late nineteenth century Dresden-type porcelains such as the Monkey Band’which are almost certainly of German origin” The conductor is beautifully painted in rich enamels. Rare Pair of Antique German KPM Porcelain Girl & Boy Sleigh Dresden Figurine
This is a gorgeous pair of large handpainted porcelain figural KPM sleighs! A boy and girl dressed in Royal clothing and both sleighs covered in apprlied porcelain flowers. Beautiful! They are heavy weighted porcelain and each measure approximately 8 inches high by 10 inches wide. Both have some chipping to the applied flowers and leaves and on the boy's sleigh. It looks like there is some yellowing and wear to the paint/glaze. Not readily noticed on display unless you are looking. Overall a gorgeous Victorian pair for the collector! Antique German Porcelain Woman Cherub Putti Cupid Dresden Flowers Group Figurine
~ Antique German Figurine ~ This is a very lovely handpainted German porcelain figure with fine modeling. Superb coloring, and exquisite porcelain applied flowers. A beautiful maiden sits atop two decorative tasseled pillows, and she is helping Cupid as he is struggling to climb up next to her. Cupid's bow and arrows are on the ground at their feet, and the woman holds one golden arrow in her hand. The figure is a nice large size measuring 8 1/2" tall by 7" wide. And it is in excellent condition aside from arrow has tip chip and a few tiny nicks to flower petals/leaves, very minor. This delightful antique large Dresden porcelain dog stands 14” long. 9” tall and 5” at its widest point. It is ca 1875 and is stamped in blue( Dresden Germany” stamp used 1881) and incised with 5575N. It is in excellent condition! The charming dog features lots of wispy. Curly fur and variegated gray spots. Its eyes are greenish yellow and are lined in dark red. The nose and mouth are painted red surrounded with indications of whisker pits. This is a beautiful half doll related ballerina dancer figurine made in Germany. Her arms are raised in a dance pose. The skirt of her dress is white with blue and gold gilt flowers and her bodice is painted in gold gilt. Approximately 4 1/2 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide. Huge German Unterweissbach porcelain and lace Carriage figurine with two dapple white horses, a driver, a beautiful lady riding in the carriage and a footman riding on the back, peeking into the window. A very large piece, it measures 20 1/2" from end to end. 10" tall and 9 1/2" deep(52cm long. 25.5cm tall, 24.2cm deep) It is in excellent overall condition; there are no chips to the porcelain, no repairs, a tiny bit of lace loss on the mens wrist cuffs, some loss to the horses reins(easily replaced) and there is some color wear on the sleeves of the woman's dress. This fantastic, very large figural depicts two beautiful women riding in the back of a chariot with another woman sitting in the front behind two winged griffins that are pulling the chariot. This spectacular piece has outstanding modeling, exquisite detail, gorgeous porcelain applied flowers, fabulous handpainted florals, and two wheels that are hinged and actually work! It measures a huge 19" from front to back and is 14 1/2" tall! It is in overall excellent condition with just a few minor chips: the seated woman has the thumb chipped off her right hand. This is a a beautiful and quite rare to find figural lamp created by the Muller Volkstedt factory of Germany. A lady is sitting at her vanity powdering her face as a young boy puts her shoe on her foot. It is a rare example created by this factory and dates 1920s-40s. The lady has a tiny chip on the end of her pointer finger and the boy has a broken thumb. Minor on display. There is some lace chipping to her gown as well. I did not test the lamp to see if it works however the cord is intact. Measures 8 1/2 inches high by 5 1/2 inches wide. Very special piece for the collector! Gorgeous pair of Victorian handpainted busts of a little girl and boy. They date late 1800s and are beautifully handpainted and modeled. Measure approximately 11 and 10 1/2 inches high by 6 inches wide. They display wonderfully however the boy's hat has been broken and reglued to a section(see photos) and the girl is excellent besides a bit of paint wear on her chin and some nibbles to the very bottom base. This is a beautiful 2 piece Dresden ballerina lady dancer figurine flower frog or hatpin holder that was manufactured in Germany by Volkstedt. The ballerina's bodice is green and her tutu is also accented in that color. The bottom of her base is accented in gold gilt. The bowl is white and it is accented in gold gilt around its edges. Marked on the base with the blue Volkstedt mark and the word Germany is written in cursive. Approximately 4 1/4 inches tall and about 5 1/2 inches wide at its widest point. LG ANTIQUE GERMAN PORCELAIN FIGURINES MAN & WOMAN IN BLUE & WHITE W/DRESDEN LACE
These are two gorgeous mid to late 1800's figurines of a man and woman done in blue and white with Dresden lace. They are both 13" tall and I believe the mark on the bottom of the figures is from a German factory in the 1800s. They are wonderfully ornate. Both of the figurines are wearing hats and the man is holding an ax in one hand and the woman looks to be holding a small scythe in one of her hands. In their other hand they are holding flowers. The woman is carrying a large basket of flowers and an urn also filled with flowers is beside her. The man's arm is resting on a large pitcher which sits on a cut off tree which is also done in blue and white. The only other colors are their faces. Hair and arms as well as the ax blade which is done in silver. As is normal, some of the lace is missing but it is not noticable as the ... morelace was used very sparingly. Posted with

Rare Antique Dresden Volkstedt Porcelain Military Lady German Figure Figurine
This is a stunning large handpainted figural grouping created by the oldest Volkstedt factory of Germany! It is a gorgeous piece with wonderful details. The lady is making rose garland and the gentleman is holding up a wreath in one hand and a scroll in the other. Measures approximately 10 1/2 inches high by 8 inches wide and displays excellent with minor damages. Some of the leaves and roses are chipped, one is missing on the back of her garland and the scroll in the gentleman's hand has a tiny chip. Also a bit of black paint wear to his pants, all very minor on display. Gorgeous for the collector! This is a Beautiful Dresden Lace Victorian Lady Figurine by Sitzendorf which was manufactured in Germany. Her skirt is accented with porcelain roses. Marked on the base with the Sitzendorf Crown and S. Approximately 8 1/2 inches tall and 5 inches wide at her widest point. This figurine is in very good used condition with lace loss to her skirt and the bottom of her skirt. She also has a few dots of discoloration on her skirt. Rare Antique German Porcelain Volkstedt Figural Dresden Compote Couple Figurine
This is a gorgeous rare Volkstedt German porcelain figural compote! It is stunning on all sides and displays excellent! Measures a nice size of 12 1/2 inches high by 10 inches wide. As I said. Displays beautifully however there are some minor damages. Each figure has one broken finger and when you lift off the top bowl, there are some flake chips on the top of the stem. Does not show when displayed, only when the bowl is taken off. Some of the flowers have some little nicks, all very minor and not detracting. This is a gorgeous early piece dating late 1800s-1920. This is a gorgeous Victorian Lady Figurine by Franz Witter. She is wearing a lovely white dress with lots of porcelain rose accents and also accented with little porcelain blue bows. She is marked on bottom with the Franz Witter crown and F and the words Made in Germany. There is also the numbers 202 and what looks like the letter p incised into the porcelain. Approximately 8 1/4 inches tall and 5 1/4 inches wide at base. She is in very good condition with just two pink roses missing from dress and one of the tails chipped off a blue bow. Large German Porcelain Dressel Kister Victorian Courting Couple Dresden Figurine This is an absolutely gorgeous Victorian lady& gentleman courting couple figurine made in Germany by Dressel Kister. She is seated on a bench next to a bouquet of flowers and he is leaning on the bench and holding a book. They look as if they are lost in conversation as she stares up at him. Approximately 9 1/2 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches wide. Stamped on bottom of base with the mark for Dressel Kister. The numbers 4791 are also inscribed in the porcelain. In good antique condition. There is a repair to the lady's raised foot and it moves a little but isn't noticeable and there are chips to the flowers. Could use a good cleaning. ANTIQUE GERMAN VOLKSTEDT DRESDEN PORCELAIN FIGURINE CHILDREN Falling In Love
Really finely sculpted by a mastercul sculptor and artist. The incredible expressions on their faces. The body language in the poses all show a high level of creative thought. The piece is bisque. Hand painted and large. Stands 8" tall and 8" wide approximately. Condition: Tiny flake from red ribbon on girl. One handle missing on flower basket. In between the figures there is a branch sticking out from between the two of them. It appears as if a part of that branch may have flaked off but it is very hard to see. Please see close up photos. Source of pieces: All the current porcelain pieces in my store come from the same smoke free home of a second generation collector. So many are handed down.
