This piece is gorgeous and hand painted. Her fingers and gown are as well as the entire figurine are very detail. I can find no chips cracks or anything else. Victorian Era. Hand Painted French Colbert Bisque Boy& Girl at the Seashore Figurines What a wonderful pair of scarce Victorian era(late 1800s) hand painted Bisque child figurines. Rich colors and gilt detail trim. This young pair appear to be at the seashore. Standing with pail and shovel in hand searching for clams or seashells! The young girl has a shovel in her left hand and a bucket in her right hand. The young boy has a shovel in his right hand and holds a bucket in his left hand. Both figures are incised on the reverse side of the base with Colbert's distinctive signature. The children have exceptional details with blonde colored hair. And they are wearing adorable swimming attire, in pale blue with periwinkle blue accents. The girl’s swim dress is adorned with delicate blue flowers on it. The dress is trimmed in gold. Her ... moreface is lovely and she has blue eyes. She is standing in her bare feet and has her dressed pulled up to keep the hem from getting too wet. The boy also has blue floral design on the front legs of his swim attire. Rich colors and gilt trim enhance the delicate bisque and finely colored detail of the face and eyes of these figurines. The toes. Hands and face are exquisitely molded with outstanding detail. They are so realistic and well made they seem almost ready to come to life. The bases feature molded cresting waves and shore in pale blue with light tan accents. The boy stands 12” while the young girl is 11.75” tall. They both measure 6” at their widest point on the base. These pieces have no chips. Cracks or repairs. I believe that each has a slight flaw which probably occurred during firing. There’s a small spot on the boy’s face(see photo#4) and a dark spot on the girl’s left arm just below where her sleeve ends(see photo#5) These very hard to find pieces are priced considerably below their value. An Estate find we have an adorable old set of ceramic/ porcelain Bust Figurines probably dating to around the 50's or so. They measure about 6 1/2" tall by about 4 1/2" at their widest. Gorgeous pink. White, green and gold coloring. In wonderful condition for their age. The man looks to be free of any damage, but has what looks to be a minute manufacturer flaw in the porcelain in the middle of his back. The lady has a couple of marks on her chin, can't really tell what it is, possibly ink marks and a small repair on the bow atop her head, all not too noticeable but wanted to mention. Offered as is as found are a wonderful pair of antique french porcelain blue bird candle holder lamps. These are being sold as found and have a great shabby appeal. No damage to the birds which are stunning sitting on their tree trunks. The flowers have chips and one holder may have a couple missing all easily replace here on Ebay. All of which only adding more shabby character to these rare pieces. The patina has age and you may wish to polish to remove any excess old polish or to bright up. But I feel they display great as they are. These are the same with the exception of the base which each hold their own likeness and one has a drip pan in holder the other does not. These appear to have been wired for electric use at some point with reminents of old wire existing. You could choose to rewire or utilize them as candle holders. Up for your consideration is this beautiful. Outstanding, antique German porcelain figurine of French, Napoleon's general. Charles du Perier, known as Dumouriez(1739- 1823) a French general. He won the battles of Valmy and Jemappes and conquered Belgium. The figurine is 10 1/4" or 26 cm tall and stands on a base that is 2 1/2" by 3" or 6.5 by 7.7 cm. The coloring is very vibrant and the detail is wonderful. There is a blue mark on the underside, an"S" dissected with crossed swords, denoting the AW Fr. and impressed 12753. This amusing hand finished terra cotta 1880s double figure spill vase measures 6 ½” tall x 4 ½” x 5” and is titled on the base Au bord de La Mer(on the beach? It depicts two rather unlikely characters in beach attire attempting to guard their modesty by whatever means lie at hand: he with his top hat and she with her tiny parasol. It is charmingly naughty and the workmanship is quite good. There are no marks that I can find. It is has a small firing hairline on the female figure's neck and no repairs and obvious losses even in the boccage in the foreground. The polychrome finish is very old. But may be 20th century. French Bisque Singing Goddess With Lyre C. 1830 A Beautiful Antique French Museum Piece. Of the Highest Quality Workmanship. Her gilded lyre has metal strings; she glances heavenward as she sings. There is an amphora at her feet. Surpassingly lovely. This is the first time I've seen teeth. Top and bottom, painted on a bisque piece- beautifully done The gorgeous gilding and enamel beading is in excellent condition. One of the really wonderful things about this piece is the expertly constructed lyre with its metal strings; they actually pass through the porcelain neck of the lyre and are then secured with metal beads which are meant to simulate the tuning pins. How neat is that? I've added lots o f pictures so you can take a close look- the lyre really is a thing of beauty. You can almost hear the music playing. Celadon and amaranth- Petit was a master colorist who worked as a painter at the prestigious Sevres factory before opening his own porcelain factoy. A beautiful and quite intricate cut-work border made to look like carved(faux) ivory in the Chinoiserie style. I have read that Petit loved the challenge of technically difficult cut-work such as this coupled with deep bas relief carvings. Exuberant gold scroll work and beading. A fleur-painted tray to hold jewelry or other small treasures. With holes in the dragon's back for brooches or necklaces. They were purchased in 1976 at Le Pappillon. One of Dallas' finest antique shops, which was owned by the late Bertha Louise Ahlchlager. She was known for her exquisite taste and made numourous buying trips to France where she would acquire the finest antique pieces. This large stunning pair of figurines is a beautiful representation of young romance. Both are dressed in detailed 18th century costumes that have been jeweled with raised dots of porcelain. The pair has been extensively hand painted and both have gilt accents applied. The female figure wears a white jeweled chemise. Her pale green and white stripe corset has gilt lacings and is edged with white ruffles. ... moreThe gown is brocaded with blue, pink, and green flowers and edged with white lace that has been jeweled. She holds a gilt edged fan in her hand. Her head is covered in a pale blue marmotte and her blond hair has gilt ribbons. Her feet are adorned in blushing pink slippers with pale blue bows. The male figure is dressed in a white jeweled ruffled shirt, a waistecoat brocaded with flowers and gilt buttons. He wears pale green and white pinstripe brocaded britches, white jeweled stockings, and pale green shoes with white and gilt buckles. He is draped in a white cape with pale yellow lining. Gilt is applied to the edges of the cape. He wears a pale blue beret on his head which was usually worn only by french nobility in the 18th century. Both figures stand approximately 14" tall with bases measuring approximately 6" in diameter. The bases are adorned with handpainted flowers and gilt edges. There is a small vent hole in the base of each figurine. There is another small vent hole in the folds of the cape of the male figure but is barely noticeable. A small reminder of when Japan followed France! A dignified Lady and Gentleman sitting on a garden bench. Dressed in the fashion of the late 1700's. The figurine of a couple is crafted during a period of Japan's poorest craftsmanship for items for export. Marked"Japan" on the bottom, the item is in good condition for its age with no chips or cracks. A previous owner had"glued" the figure to"something" with residue of adhesive remaining. This is being sold as I found it. It's an interesting piece to use for comparison to fine French porcelain and to have a glimpse of Japanese workmanship at a low ebb. Japan's fame for the finest arts and crafts for centuries, reached this low point prior to WWII, when efforts were channeled elsewhere. Antique TERRACOTTA BUST Victorian Woman MANDOLIN Sculpture ART Italian FRENCH
Antique Terracotta Victorian Bust! Here we have a Fabulous Antique Terracotta Bust of a Victorian Lady playing a Mandolin. She measures approximately 17" high by 12" wide-elbow to elbow. She came from the estate of an elderly woman who traveled extensively. And collected only the finest Antiques while in Europe. I was told by the family she was from Italy and purchased in France. or maybe it was the other way around? She is from the Victorian Era which would make her over 100 years old! She has the most peaceful look on her realistic face as she strums(what I can only assume it a love ballad) on her Mandolin. Beautifully done from her Lace Collar and Cuffs to her Flowered Dress. She is wearing a mosaic pendant around her neck and has a pretty hair band around the curls that fall from the top of her head. I have brushed her with ... morea soft paintbrush to get the dust off and lightly wiped her down. I see in the photos there is more dust close to her collar. And mostly in the crevasses of her hands, around her facial features etc. but I did not want to do a real cleaning as I am not an expert in Terracotta, so I will leave this up to the lucky winner. So please excuse the lack of cleaning and the camera glare. She has some loss of the"velvet" on her pendant around her neck and it looks like part of the Mandolin neck has been glued. I actually didn't notice this for a while, as when she is placed on the table it is not all that noticeable. Certainly does not detract from the detailed beauty of this piece. Some little nicks here and there as is typical of terracotta from this era. She has felt around the base and the numbers 477 29 on the back. She is very heavy! A lovely Art Piece that doesn't come along very often. Perfect for your Eclectic, Victorian or Curated Home! I have a very low reserve which does not reflect the value of this piece.
