Superb 19th C Signed Galle Reinemer French Faience Pottery Sleeping Cat Statue This superb French faience statue is in the form of a blue and rose colored sleeping cat and is decorated with what appears to be blue writing on the back of it’s head. It is signed Galle Reinemer in the form of GR with the cross of Lorraine which was used for a very short time. It dates from the 19th Century and measures approximately 4 + ½ inches at it’s highest point. 5 + 3/8 inches at it’s widest point, and 11 + ½ inches at is longest point. It is in excellent condition with the exception of some minor chipping on the right ear, a small chip on the tail, and a piece of the left ear is gone, as can be seen in the photos. From a collection of a lady who belonged to the"Porcelain Circle" we offer a fabulous French faience figural statue of a couple and a child made by Niderville in the 18th century. Beautifully decorated in a relatively pale palette. His costume is in pale blue including his culottes. While her bodice is pink and her dress is stripped whereas the rest is white with flowers. The child is essentially all in white apart from his face. This figure dates to the last quarter of the 18th century. The figures are dressed in the attire of the period when they were made. Offering for your consideration a vintage French Faience cat or kitten figurine from the DESVRES faiencerie. This handsome figure is decorated with little flower sprigs and also with an armorial French Crest. His back is embellished with a classic. Rich Rouenesque design. Kitty has a pleasing facial expression and wonderful green glass eyes. He is posed seated with his tail curled around his body. He stands 6 1/2" tall and is in mint condition. As is sometimes the case in hand painted French pottery. This piece slipped through unsigned by the painter. N.B. The painters were paid piecemeal for each individual piece which they completed and sometimes forgot to sign their work. It is guaranteed to be of old Desvres manufacture. Offering for your consideration an unusual Desvres figurine of a Breton lady. Who is a fisherman's wife. She is 7" tall and is posed holding her colorful bag. Which probably holds clams or oysters. She is standing on a multi-colored sponged ground which is 4 1/2" wide. The piece has beautiful. Fresh glaze colors with wonderful cobalt blue tones. She is signed on the base in very fine aubergine script with the number 923. This fine French faience figurine is accompanied by the orginal sale's receipt. She was sold by Francois Piton. The noted authority and author of the Desvres French reference book, C'est du Desvres" The original price was $550 plus $75 shipping from France. A total of $625! Monsieur Piton describes the figure in the receipt as being"over 100 years old" The lady is in excellent overall ... morecondition.
