She is wearing a traditional style pale green and rose dress and a long aqua skirt with crescent moons. She holds a flower in her right hand. The figurine measures approximately 6 1/4" tall. The base shows the figurine is hollow. I do not see any marks to identify the maker or the country of origin. I believe it is Chinese. The piece is very good condition. The businessman Carl Schneider(who had worked at the Wallendorf factory for some time) together with modeling artist Karl Unger and business man Hermann Hutschenreuther founded their business in 1859. Vintage Bisque Lefton China Japan Colonial Man Woman Figure Planters. Very cute set with lots of detail. Detail that is normally seen on German pieces. This set has an estimated age of 1950 to 1960, it is not marked however, that is not uncommon as many Lefton pieces only had paper labels. Although it could have been made by another maker, I really feel that it was made by Lefton China due to the high quality. These figurines are 7" tall by 4 1/4" long and about 3" long. They are both very detailed and dressed Colonial attire. Applied petal flowers, with gold accents, the grass on both are has a snow finish like that found on German and Japanese snowbabys. The man is dressed in blue with gold accents. He is playing a gold flute and there is a pink bird on his arm, the lady is dressed in pink with gold accents and holds a string ... moreinstrument, there is bluebird on her arm. Both are very good condition. Fingers intact, I don't see any damage to the man, but due to the intricacy I could have missed something small, the lady is missing a flower from her shoe and the tip of the bird's tail is missing, again I may have missed something tiny due the intricacy, the very little bit of damage I noted is very hard to see and does not detract from the beauty of these pieces. I gave them a light cleaning but they may need a little more light cleaning with the tip of a cotton swab in order to be completely free of dust. Art Union of Great Britain-Rare 19th Century Large Figure of Woman with Shawl
As part a liquidation of a large English estate offered for sale is a rare Victorian Art Union of Great Britain Parian Figure approx. 14.5" tall by 7" deep by 6" wide at the base. This model of a lady wearing a shawl and sitting upon a rock is late 19th century. It is believed these figures may have been made for the Art Union by Turner and Co. As you can see in the final picture the"little" or"pinky" finger of the left hand is missing. Otherwise this rather stunning figuring is in excellent condition. It has been on display in my family's English home for over 70 years. It will be carefully packed and mailed within one business day once payment is received.
