Damage/Repair, cracks in left leg and head. Chipped right foot, Additional Information: A standing female with arms at her side. This carving exemplifies Azande carving style with the elongated body and short legs. Her belly button and genetailia portrude, indicating her fertility. Her round and robust coiffure is also indicative of the hand of a talented Azande carver. Among the Azande(Zande) figures like this are known as Yanda, served to represent ancestral or protective spirits who looked over the members of an Azande cult known as Mani(This cult was also shared by close neighbors the Mangbetu) The Mani cult enrolled women and men and worked to assure health and to secure wealth and prosperity for the cult member. These charming figures takes their color from the magical application of roots. Plants, bark and seeds called Libele by the Azande. She is not in tact, the socket for the lamp misses some parts, amongst which the screw to fasten it to the base, which is replaced by a piece of wood, the base has been broken too, though it is neatly restored. The upper part, the shade, is in perfect condition. Height of the total 28 cm, 11.25” the shade alone 21 cm. 8.25” The upper part is numbered at the back 9419. She is a large gorgeous display at 9 inches wide by 6 3/4 inches tall and displays beautifully however the bottom of the base was broken in an area and there are some hairlines coming from it. Besides a few tiny nicks on the back very bottom of the base(very tiny) It displays very well as is. You only see the hole on the bottom when you turn it over. This is a gorgeous Porcelain Art Deco Half Doll Related Bathing Beauty Figurine Trinket by Goebel of Germany. She is kneeling and leaning down and appears to be scooping water into something she is holding in her hand. Approximately 2 1/4 inches tall and 3 7/8 inches wide. Stamped on the bottom with the blue Goebel mark. The mark is also incised into the porcelain. There is also an M or W stamped on the bottom. In excellent condition. Gorgeous Antique Art Deco German Porcelain Pierrot Half Doll Rel Figurine Figure
This is a gorgeous Pierrot figure or figurine holding an instrument at his side and he has a bouquet of roses at his feet. Approximately 7 1/2 inches tall and 2 3/4 inches wide at widest point. The number 4604 and the word Germany is incised in the porcelain on the back bottom of figurine. In excellent condition with just a hairline crack on the back and one black dot below the first black button on his shirt which looks like a paint fleck and one raised brown dot below his knee which was made during the manufacturing process because it appears to be under the glaze. There are also two small chips to the base. None of these things are noticable and do not detract from this beautiful piece. Displays Beautifully. The outfit looks to be a pale blue with gold trim. It looks like the boy is holding a letter. The fingers on his right hand are all there, they are just curled under.
