This is an amazingly RARE old vintage example of a hand painted high quality flocked porcelain Monkey figurine from the latter half of the 1800's. Unmarked but I am sure it is European. To my knowledge Japan did not do this sort of technique this early. The brown flocking gives the porcelain a sort of textured feel& it still remains mostly intact which is very unusual. As the flocking from the 1800's pieces(when found) are usually completely worn off. The brown is worn thin in some areas with some white showing through but for a piece of this age& rarity it still looks good& is quite acceptable. The base has some old glue residue but the piece still sits ... morefirmly upright. This is a must-have for an antique figurine collector as I have never seen another quite like this beautifully unique vintage hand painted piece with FANTASTIC eye-appeal! Extremely Rare. KPM Porcelain Rabbits; Circa 1834-37; Horizontal Scepter Mark. This trio represents a very rare collection of some of the finest made porcelain in Europe. The Royal Porcelain Factory(Konigliche Porzellan-Manufaktor or KPM) was created in 1763 by Frederick the Great and has been meticulously manufacturing extremely well made pieces for savvy collectors the world over ever since. Their attention to detail is unrivaled. And the care and precision with which they fire these masterpieces, creates an almost glowing milky white glaze. Measuring 5-1/2" high. This is a recent copy of an extremely rare half doll flapper couple that was was made in Germany ca1920s. The woman with her flapper hair cut, and her man with his slick hair style, are typical of Art Deco styling. With no stamp or incised mark. I've been advised by an expert that this was made relatively recently, and lacks the finesse and finish of the original. However for collectors of half doll who are looking for an example of this type, this later model might be of interest. The piece is in very good condition with no chips. Cracks or hairlines. There are some marks and stains which I've been unable to remove, and two fine firing marks, one on the man's neck and one on the woman's. These are clearly visible in the images.
