I have the distinct ple asure of offering the finest piece of Wemyss Ware English porcelain I have ever had in my possession. It is signed Wemyss Ware Made in England on the bottom. This amazing porcelain cat lamp is incredible. It has the signature Wemyss glass eyes of the early 20th century ware. I have seen similar cats sell over the past few years at fine auction houses. But cannot find any cat lamps. This one appears to be factory original, but I cannot be sure as I cannot find any reference to one having been made. It could have been a custom order from the factory or drilled and converted post factory. The hardware and fabric wrapped cord is consistent with the period of manufacture. The drilled top hole is precise and smooth as well as the holes in the front ... morefeet pads to hold it in place on the wooden base. There are no chips, cracks or repairs anywhere on the piece. Up for auction are a beautiful couple made of porcelain. The man is dressed in a fabulous Scottish kilt and great hat with his hunting rifle and dog. The woman is wearing a period dress and hat with her dog at her side. She even has a necklace around her neck. They are both marked“England” with the number 211; the male figure is also marked with an“R. Both figurines are hand painted with vibrant colors and great detail front and back. The gentleman is in perfect condition. The lady is perfect except for a crack in the dog’s body that you can see in the photograph. The figures have some weight to them and are very pretty. Each figure is approximately 7 ½” tall. These figurines are from my Mom’s estate. I remember them as a little girl which means they’re more than 60 years old.
