GERMAN PORCELAIN MEISSEN / DRESDEN STYLE MONKEY BAND ‘CONDUCTOR’ No 693 c 1880
This‘Monkey Band’ figurine is one of a set of four that I am listing in four separate listings this week. They represent models 693. 694, 695 and 696 in this set. This one bears the underglaze incised number‘693’ on the base. I am listing each one separately in order to give collectors the opportunity to fill in any‘gaps’ in their collection of these figures. But, in each case, I have provided one photo showing all four of these lively musicians so that they can be seen together. The four comprise a flautist, a violinist, a trumpeter and a conductor, all made of heavy hard paste porcelain. The original‘Monkey Bands’ were reputedly first produced by the great Meissen factory about 1753-5 and were the result of a commission given to Meissen’s greatest figure modeller. Johann Kaendler who created a 22 piece‘orchestra’ of these wonderful figures, ... moreeach distinguished with marvellous individuality and wittiness in concept. They were immensely popular and much copied by other porcelain factories right through the 19th Century. I have been informed by a kind fellow eBayer(4/2/13) that these figures are from a Kronach factory in Upper Franconia. Germany, belonging to R& E Pech. I have confirmed that the mark appears on page 273 of Ludwig Danckert's invaluable'Directory of European Porcelain' The date is correct. This one is the‘Conductor’ He is extremely well modelled and painted in fine detail. He is conducting with visible enthusiasm! He carries an underglaze‘blue scissors’ mark. I am much indebted. As always, to Mr Geoffery Godden’s superb“Guide to European Porcelain”1993. On page 98 of that book he illustrates the‘scissors’ mark and reveals that it“occurs on late nineteenth century Dresden-type porcelains such as the Monkey Band’which are almost certainly of German origin” The conductor is beautifully painted in rich enamels. Rare Pair of Antique German KPM Porcelain Girl & Boy Sleigh Dresden Figurine
This is a gorgeous pair of large handpainted porcelain figural KPM sleighs! A boy and girl dressed in Royal clothing and both sleighs covered in apprlied porcelain flowers. Beautiful! They are heavy weighted porcelain and each measure approximately 8 inches high by 10 inches wide. Both have some chipping to the applied flowers and leaves and on the boy's sleigh. It looks like there is some yellowing and wear to the paint/glaze. Not readily noticed on display unless you are looking. Overall a gorgeous Victorian pair for the collector! ~ Antique German Figurine ~ This is a very lovely handpainted German porcelain figure with fine modeling. Superb coloring, and exquisite porcelain applied flowers. A beautiful maiden sits atop two decorative tasseled pillows, and she is helping Cupid as he is struggling to climb up next to her. Cupid's bow and arrows are on the ground at their feet, and the woman holds one golden arrow in her hand. The figure is a nice large size measuring 8 1/2" tall by 7" wide. And it is in excellent condition aside from arrow has tip chip and a few tiny nicks to flower petals/leaves, very minor. This auction offers a beautiful antique/vintage Aelteste Volkstedter Dresden Lace Figurine showing a courting couple. Be sure to view all the pictures I have added to this page. The couple is seated on a settee and the man is reading to the lady, probably from a book of poetry. Such great detail to every area of this figurine. Sadly, the man's ankle and foot of his right leg is missing and his right forefinger- BUT, did you notice this when you first looked at the pictures? I didn't notice it until I looked at the piece for a while- it is so beautiful. I see no other flaws on this wonderful piece- the lace seems to all be intact, which is unusual, as do all the little flowers and the lady's fingers. This would probably be a $400-$600 ... morepiece were it intact. I hope it will find a home with someone even though it is not perfect. It is marked on the bottom with the Aelteste Volkstedter blue mark and impressed with"V20122. The blue mark used dates it to either 1900-1936 or 1945-1972. It measures approximately 6" side-to-side, 4" front-to-back, and 5 1/4" tall. It would be a wonderful addition to your collection! It's in very good condition but does have one small spot(1/4" of lace broken just below her left flower and a very small piece of lace missing on the bottom right side. Dresden lace ballerina vintage figurine NRFB mint in box
This Dresden ballerina is a vintage original. Mint in box. It has never been removed from the box. The doll itself looks to be in absolutely pristine condition. The ties on the bottom that adhere to the base look to be in mint condition also. The ballerina is as pictured. Her delicate blue and white lace skirt is 100 percent in tact, she wears a purple porcelain bodice with a yellow flower at her waist. Her ruffled collar and lace skirt bottom are edged in what looks like gold leaf. She is beautiful. The box measures 6" high, and 4" deep. The box is not mint, but could probably be cleaned, as I can only guess it to be 60-70 years old. The figurine is exactly how it appears in the picture. With gorgeous coloring, and fine detail, this large piece includes two men, one woman, one dog and a large dead stag on the ground. The men are both wearing tall riding boots, and each has a sheathed knife hanging from a belt around the waist. The woman holds a rifle at her side. The piece m easures a large 10" tall by 10.5" wide and is in excellent condition aside from a chip to the tip of the rifle barrel. One of them is holding a book,the other basket with flowers.They are wearing gorgeous lace dresses with flowers on the lace. The base it self is a piece of art. Many delicate flowers,the grass, all the details are amazing.the figurine is typical of the lace pieces produced by several of Dresden factories during the later part of the 19 th and early 20 th century.Size 10" high, 11" wide The figurines is in good condition, there is some very little part lace broken, as shown on the pic.The blue Dresden porcelain mark on the back.

She is in very good condition with no damage or repairs to her and she has some lace loss on the front and back of the dress(see pics) A beautiful figurine featuring yellow roses affixed to her gown. Huge German Unterweissbach porcelain and lace Carriage figurine with two dapple white horses, a driver, a beautiful lady riding in the carriage and a footman riding on the back, peeking into the window. A very large piece, it measures 20 1/2" from end to end. 10" tall and 9 1/2" deep(52cm long. 25.5cm tall, 24.2cm deep) It is in excellent overall condition; there are no chips to the porcelain, no repairs, a tiny bit of lace loss on the mens wrist cuffs, some loss to the horses reins(easily replaced) and there is some color wear on the sleeves of the woman's dress. HUGE Antique German Sitzendorf Porcelain Group Chariot Carriage Dresden Figurine
~ Antique German Group Figurine ~ Gorgeous. Huge antique chariot figure! Circa late 19th century. This fantastic, very large figural depicts two beautiful women riding in the back of a chariot with another woman sitting in the front behind two winged griffins that are pulling the chariot. This spectacular piece has outstanding modeling, exquisite detail, gorgeous porcelain applied flowers, fabulous handpainted florals, and two wheels that are hinged and actually work! It measures a huge 19" from front to back and is 14 1/2" tall! It is in overall excellent condition with just a few minor chips: the seated woman has the thumb chipped off her right hand. The maiden wearing the hat has the tip chipped off of the scarf coming off the back of the hat, there are a few flowers with minor nicks, and there is some minor gold/age wear. She is so cute with her little white with red lined stocking feet dangling from under her little purple dress. She is wearing a red bonnet on her head and her dress is dotted with little gold dots. Antique German Porcelain Volkstedt Dresden Lady Blackamoor Lamp Figurine Figure
This is a a beautiful and quite rare to find figural lamp created by the Muller Volkstedt factory of Germany. A lady is sitting at her vanity powdering her face as a young boy puts her shoe on her foot. It is a rare example created by this factory and dates 1920s-40s. The lady has a tiny chip on the end of her pointer finger and the boy has a broken thumb. Minor on display. There is some lace chipping to her gown as well. I did not test the lamp to see if it works however the cord is intact. Measures 8 1/2 inches high by 5 1/2 inches wide. Very special piece for the collector! Superb! Antique German Porcelain Bisque Children Figure Bust Figurine Dresden
Gorgeous pair of Victorian handpainted busts of a little girl and boy. They date late 1800s and are beautifully handpainted and modeled. Measure approximately 11 and 10 1/2 inches high by 6 inches wide. They display wonderfully however the boy's hat has been broken and reglued to a section(see photos) and the girl is excellent besides a bit of paint wear on her chin and some nibbles to the very bottom base. This is a very Large Stunning Porcelain Lace Spanish Dancer playing the castanets. Her lace has gold trim around the shoulders and neck. The colors on the dress are black, white, yellow and red. She does have some lace loss, very little, just above her left foot trim on bottom row(see pic 10) and back bottom row(see pic 11) Frankenthal, makers mark on bottom of base.
