CONDITION: The condition is very good with a tiny slight hairline on one inside edge of the platter that does not go through to the back There is also some minor wear to the enamel, mostly to the gilt highlights on the rim as expected. LARGE 18th CENTURY DERBY PORCELAIN FIGURE RANELAGH DANCER c1770 Presented is a Derby porcelain figure from England that dates to circa 1765-70! This figure is most likely of a famous leading actor of the time. We believe it is part of the Ranelagh Dancers of Derby because of the placement of its hands and posture. The figure is holding a posy in his outstretched hand. On a scroll-molded base. Flowery, leafy branches are on both sides of him. He is wearing a green and red cape over a white shirt with a yellow rim and red, blue, and yellow flowers. He has brown eyes and black hair. The condition is excellent. There are some flakes to the paint/glaze( the worst of which is shown in the last photograph to part of the green cape) and many of the leaves and flower petals have ... morebroken off. His left hand was broken off and has been repaired. The fingers on his left hand have also been repaired. Please see the photographs below. His hat has been repainted in the front and what appears to have been feathers or leaves on his hat have broken off. There are a couple of natural fissures that occurred in the making. The glaze has flowed into these and they should not be considered damage. One is on his shoulder over the green cape, and the other is along his pigtail. The figure stands 13 inches high. Here is this large figural group made of fine porcelain. This figural group was probably made by Edme Samson. It has a red crown mark(similar to that of early 19thc Derby figurines) But it also has a crossed swords mark(a spitting image of Meissen) under the glaze near the red crown mark. Samson was known to mark figurines with both marks, so it is likely his. There is also a IV mark impressed on the base. The porcelain figurine is finely modelled and beautifully hand painted. The figurine has a repair to the hat of the masked man and was repainted. The ladies hand, highest in the air, may have been repaired ... moreas well, but the paint for the others' hands also looks to be different than the arms(and those don't look to be repaired) Just be aware that there may be other repairs. c18 English Chelsea Figures. Large Gorgeous! These are a magnificent and large original 18c English porcelain Chelsea figures! A beautiful woman with sheep at the base. And a gentleman with dog to his side. Hand painted with extremely fine detail, beautiful colors! Applied flowers and ribbons decorate the clothing. The figures are very heavy and substantial. The detail and quality is top notch! The condition is very good overall with some minor damage. The woman has some damage to the ribbons on her one sleeve, and some of the ribbons may have restoration. The gentleman has one finger tip off, and possible restoration to his hat? Derby porcelain figurine from around 1775. This figurine is inscribed No 311 on the base and is 8 1/2" tall. I believe she should be playing a triangle. But that and other bits have come adrift in the passage of 230 years! Her left arm has been substantially repaired and might be worth better restoration. That aside she is a majestic figurine with superb colors. I have owned this for over 20 years. But since downsizing do not have a place for her. 1760s English Porcelain 5in. Figurine of Springtime (Putti Bow/Derby or Chelsea)
Soft paste Porcelain Putto representing Spring(one of the Four Seasons) with applied leaves. Florets with egg-yellow& black centers, braided hair and minimal additional enameled decoration on a plain base with very minor damage and dating from the late 1750s or 1760s(for full details, continue reading below) Welcome to a Special Sale Listing and. enjoy! ITEM DETAILS: Wonderful early English porcelain figurine of a child with braided hair carrying a basket of flowers on a simple base adorned with leaves and flower heads(symbolic of Spring in a four seasons theme) The young person is leaning against a short tree stump and wearing puce and soft blue drape around her left hip. The figurine is well painted with her brown hair finely detailed to accent her long braid formed into a circle and ending in a tight knot(see close-up photo) Her brown ... morehair is not painted with a brush but instead scratched with a fine needle to remove some coloring so that one can see both individual strands and braiding. Her face is also expertly painted with her eyebrows again painted with a single hair as a brush and painted in brown and made from placing 12 to 15 short curving brush strokes each. Her eyes have black pupils set within brown irises and each also has a small red tear duct in the corner. The girls nose has her nostrils outlined in light brown and her lips are colored blood red. Other details include small applied flowers with six pedals and bright yellow(egg yellow) centers topped with a tiny dark blackish-brown dot. Other important characteristics include two distinct shades of green on the applied leaves: a common green(translucent grassy green) and a bluish-green(weak turquoise green) Some of the iron red flowers were painted using a fine single hair brush and taking 25 to 30 individual brush strokes. The figurine is solid and not hollow-formed and so it feels heavier than others its size that are not solid. Rococo Baroque Style Antique figurines. Sold as a pair. Musicians with a Clarinet and a Lute. Also could be a Shepherd& Shepherdess, he with his dog and she with her sheep. I would guess these are probably from 1875-1900 period. Because of the Dresden type coloring) Although they could be much earlier. I know the gold anchor Chelsea mark was used from 1756-1769, and was the most forged mark. I have seen a mark with this S type going through that was considered Chelsea. There are other marks with the S figure, but they seem to be going the other way, and contributed to other markers. I just do not know or have I been able to find out who for sure who made these. There are parts of them that look like so many different makers combined. If anyone has information or guesses, please inform me. I cannot find any other marks. These just both have a gold anchor mark with an S hand painted in gold on their backs. Please check out the pictures well for damages. I will list what I can see. Most areas with damage have had some kind of touch up restoration in the past. On the Lady: 2 broke off flowers& 1 pedal end. 2 broke off leaves& 2 tips. The end of her lute has been broken& re-glued also the end may have been longer with more to it. On the Man: 1 broke off flower. 4 broke off leaves& 3 broke off tips. I also think the short dogs leg was broken off. Woman is 7 3/4" tall. The base is 4 1/2" x 3 3/4" Man is 8 1/4" tall. 5 DAY'S ONLY at 395.00 for the Pair.REDUCED PRICE SALE: Rococo Baroque Style Antique figurines. Sold as a pair. Musicians with a Clarinet and a Lute. Also could be a Shepherd& Shepherdess, he with his dog and she with her sheep. I would guess these are probably from 1875-1900 period. Although they could be much earlier. I know the gold anchor Chelsea mark was used from 1756-1769, and was the most forged mark. I have seen a mark with this S type going through that was considered Chelsea. There are other marks with the S figure, but they seem to be going the other way, and contributed to other markers. I just do not know or have I been able to find out who for sure who made these. There are parts of them that look like so many different makers combined. If anyone has information or guesses, please inform me. I am selling them as just ... morea pair of unknown figurines. I put in pictures of the underneath bases for you to view. As they seem very old and these seem to be hard paste porcelain. I cannot find any other marks. These just both have a gold anchor mark with an S hand painted in gold on their backs. Please check out the pictures well for damages. I will list what I can see. Most areas with damage have had some kind of touch up restoration in the past. On the Lady: 2 broke off flowers& 1 pedal end. 2 broke off leaves& 2 tips. The end of her lute has been broken& re-glued also the end may have been longer with more to it. On the Man: 1 broke off flower. 4 broke off leaves& 3 broke off tips. I also think the short dogs leg was broken off. Woman is 7 3/4" tall. The base is 4 1/2" x 3 3/4" Man is 8 1/4" tall. The base is 4 1/2" x 3 3/4" These will be sent fully insured and packaged very carefully. All pictures taken. Are of the actual item for sale. Ask questions if needed. Very Nice Pair of signed Bloor Derby Porcelain Figurines Antique early 19th Cent Bright and colorful pair of signed Bloor Derby figures. These displays great but they do have some damage as almost all from this period do. They date 1820-1840 with these marks and have old dealers tags from London. England on the bases. The girl has had her head broken off and reattached and there is some chipping to the thin leaves on the base and also the yellow batch that she is holding. Her right thumb is also missing. A number of the tips of whatever the boy is holding are missing, possibly from the factory that way since they seem to have original paint over the ends, but I can't be certain. One tip is white and recently chipped and there is some chipping to the thin leaves in the base. Both these figures have normal glaze crazing although the boy ... morehas one 2" horizontal craze line in the back that could be considered a surface crack. These figures display great. The gold is in superb condition and the paint is bright and colorful with almost no wear at all. They measure 10" and 9" tall, 3&3/4" across the bases.
