Antique Soft Paste Figurine, 18th C, Three Figure Group, Derby? Bow?
This fine. Early, hand-painted porcelain figurine is a grouping of three children; two little boys pulling a little girl on a small chariot. The flowers and leaves are applied, there is gold detail and some tiny painted beading along the girl's skirt. The overall condition is excellent. There is some loss of gold detailing along edges where it would have been handled; perfectly normal for an item this old. The underside has a low, inner rim, which acts as a pedestal(perhaps it sat on a real pedestal at one time) Along the inside of this rim is a small chip, which cannot be seen unless the figurine is turned upside down. This is not really a detriment, as it gives further proof that this is a soft-paste item. The chip reveals a graininess that is not seen with hard-paste. There are numerous markings on the base, but none that were definitive. ... moreSome hand-painted markings are partially obliterated with age. Impressed in the center of the base is the number"88" above a horizontal line. Beneath this line are three parallel, slightly diagonal lines. The chip mentioned above is the only flaw. There are no chips, cracks or repairs that could be found. This item measures 4 5/8 inches long, 2 7/8 inches wide, and 4 inches tall. We believe this item to have been manufactured circa 1750. It is very like Derby or Bow items of that period, but we can't be sure. And a gentleman with dog to his side. Hand painted with extremely fine detail, beautiful colors! Applied flowers and ribbons decorate the clothing. The figures are very heavy and substantial. The detail and quality is top notch! The condition is very good overall with some minor damage. Derby porcelain figurine from around 1775. This figurine is inscribed No 311 on the base and is 8 1/2" tall. I believe she should be playing a triangle. But that and other bits have come adrift in the passage of 230 years! Her left arm has been substantially repaired and might be worth better restoration. That aside she is a majestic figurine with superb colors. I have owned this for over 20 years. But since downsizing do not have a place for her. Antique 18th Century Derby or CHELSEA 5 3/4" Putti Cherub Figurine PROVENANCE
This auction is for a Rare Antique 18th Century Putti Figurine circa 1750- 1800. The figurine measures approximately 5 3/4 inches high. The figurine is marked on the bottom with collection stickers- it has two generations of collection stickers- the most recent collection was the MacHarg Collection and the one previous was the Ex Luccock Collection dated 28/1/43. The figurine has suffered some damage over the years- it has damage to two of the birds in the nest and a crack in part way through the nest plus some minor chips to the leaves and flowers- please see close-up photos. The figurine exhibits three dirty looking circles on its base- for those possibly not as familiar with the early figurines. 1760s English Porcelain 5in. Figurine of Springtime (Putti Bow/Derby or Chelsea)
Soft paste Porcelain Putto representing Spring(one of the Four Seasons) with applied leaves. Florets with egg-yellow& black centers, braided hair and minimal additional enameled decoration on a plain base with very minor damage and dating from the late 1750s or 1760s(for full details, continue reading below) Welcome to a Special Sale Listing and. enjoy! ITEM DETAILS: Wonderful early English porcelain figurine of a child with braided hair carrying a basket of flowers on a simple base adorned with leaves and flower heads(symbolic of Spring in a four seasons theme) The young person is leaning against a short tree stump and wearing puce and soft blue drape around her left hip. The figurine is well painted with her brown hair finely detailed to accent her long braid formed into a circle and ending in a tight knot(see close-up photo) Her brown ... morehair is not painted with a brush but instead scratched with a fine needle to remove some coloring so that one can see both individual strands and braiding. Her face is also expertly painted with her eyebrows again painted with a single hair as a brush and painted in brown and made from placing 12 to 15 short curving brush strokes each. Her eyes have black pupils set within brown irises and each also has a small red tear duct in the corner. The girls nose has her nostrils outlined in light brown and her lips are colored blood red. Other details include small applied flowers with six pedals and bright yellow(egg yellow) centers topped with a tiny dark blackish-brown dot. Other important characteristics include two distinct shades of green on the applied leaves: a common green(translucent grassy green) and a bluish-green(weak turquoise green) Some of the iron red flowers were painted using a fine single hair brush and taking 25 to 30 individual brush strokes. The figurine is solid and not hollow-formed and so it feels heavier than others its size that are not solid. Early 19C. Derby Allegorical Figurine 'Continent of America' Indian & Alligator
Here is an exquisite antique allegorical figurine from Derby- representing America- of an Indian maiden wearing an animal skin cloak and carrying a quiver of arrows in one arm and a bow in the other. Standing with an open-mouthed alligator on a grassy mound, all supported by a rococo base enhanced by gilding. Height is 10 3/4" Derby mark painted in iron red on reverse(mark used first quarter of the 19th century) There are condition issues- the bow is broken at both ends, the Indian's crown of feathers is mostly gone; her arm holding the quiver has been reglued(see photo 6) and right front leg of base has also been reglued. Still wonderful!

Royal Crown Derby Bone China Peacock Figurine~7.25"T.XLVI Applied Flowers &Gold
Here we offer a most beautiful Royal Crown Derby Figurine. This is a Bone China Peacock standing on a branch surrounded with hand applied flowers and hand painted detail. It is marked on the bottom with the Royal Crown Derby Mark in Red. It is also marked with the numerals XLVI. Then there is the artist's signature as well on the other side J.Plant. This lovely statue has a large Branch the Peacock is standing on that is filled with hand made flowers. The tail is just exquisite with 24 Kt Gold paint all the way down to the base. The piece is 7 1/4" tall. It is in very good condition for its age and decoration. The body and tail have had repairs. There are a couple of minor chips to some leaves(see pictures) But over all the peacock and its decoration are just gorgeous. And display beautifully. Amazing Antique Derby Porcelian Figurine Set
This is an amazing find! 1756 Four corners of the world soft paste porcelain. These are in amazing shape. Few paint flakes,tiny chips on each but no major breaks in arms or animals. Camel, lion, alligator and elephant hat are totally intact. One has a pink base(Asia) 3 have blue bases so I assume that it isn't considered a true 4 set but they are all the right continents and show great together. Pair Derby Sheep Figurine Ram Ewe Antique 18th-C Bocage Staffordshire Pearlware
Derby Sheep A rare 18th century pair of Derby sheep with flowering bocage. Dating to around 1780 or so. One is a ewe and the other is a ram with curled horns. Both are white with red spots. The figures are beautifully modeled and painted with fine detail. Though a t around 230 years old. They do show their age in condition; see pictures and notes below.
