CLASSIFICATION: Sancai Glazed Ceramic Statuette. ATTRIBUTION: Ancient China. Ming Dynasty, 15th or 16th Century. SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Height: 278 millimeters(11 1/8 inches) Length: 232 millimeters(9 1/3 inches) Breadth: 99 millimeters(4 inches) Base: 150 x 74 millimeters(6 inches x 3 inches) 12 millimeters(1/2 inch) in thickness. CONDITION: Very good. Minor porcelain chips. There are minor chips in the porcelain glaze at the rider’s right front shoulder; to the rider’s waist, behind, center; to the back side of the horse’s right leg; at the edge of the horse’s stomach, right side, center; and at the rider’s left elbow. There is as well a scattering of minute porcelain chips throughout, and the top of the horse’s right ear is also chipped. Other than cleaning, there has been no restoration work. The minor chips could be repaired, without additional cost, if you would like our conservator to repair the chips. There remains some mild soil adhesions, small areas where soil still adheres to the statuette, despite our best efforts to clean away all soil adhesions. Of course the paint has decomposed and is powdery in those areas where the statuette was merely painted(not glazed) the rider’s head, boot, and hands. Not flawless, but certainly in a better than average state of preservation. DETAIL: A nicely preserved. Very large sancai glazed statuette so wonderfully characteristic of Ming Dynasty artwork. Sancai, or three-color glazes principally in yellow, green and brown was a development of the Tang Dynasty(618-907 AD) Sancai(three-colored" wares were first made for burial, using lead-based glazes that produced mottled and streaky effects in green, amber-brown, and cream, with an occasional addition of blue or black. Vintage (?) Ceramic Horse Figurine- Running Horses
Listing now is a beautiful Ceramic Figurine of 2 horses running. This figurine measures approximately 7 inches by 5.5 inches. There are no markings or dates on the piece. But it seems vintage by the faces on the horses. Please use your own knowledge. The front horse is dark brown while the back is light brown. Both have some places where the coloring has worn off but the piece is not chipped anywhere that I can tell. Some of the green grass coloring has also worn off. Still a lovely piece that will be great in any collection. Happy bidding and feel free to ask any questions.

Blue Marble Swirl Ceramic Horse & Rider
This horse and rider figurine stands 6" tall. It came from an estate sale and I don't know much about it. It appears to be a warrior possibly oriental on a horse. The letters K S is on the front part of the base. The base is in an oval shape and it measures 3 3/4" long and about 2 1/2" wide. There are no cracks or chips. It is in good condition. Antique Ceramic German Horse And Rider Figurine
Up for auction is an antique ceramic figurine featuring a horse and rider with his two dogs. The figurine measures 5" in height and 4.5" in length. On the bottom. The figurine is imprinted with the numbers 2312 and a stamp that reads"S.J.Goldhill& Co. Importers" along with the words made in Germany. Likely age of piece is late 1800s to early 1900s. set of 3 US Zone Germany ceramic horse figurines
This listing is for all three of the horses in the photos above. They have always been together as a collection. The Mare has no markings on her at all. One of her colts says US Zone Germany. The other colt says Germany, I think that they were made at the same time and from the same place. The colts look very much like each other and offer the same markings on the bottom, except for the US Zone. The Mare has the same eyes and the same glazing and the same type of ceramic. This is a Hertwig horse figurine. The mark under the base was used by Hertwig between 1914-1945. The only defects I see are a very tiny almost imperceptible, but you can feel it, chip on the tip of the right ear. The other is a repair to the base. See pictures for both.
