RARE 18th Century Ludwigsburg German porcelain figure
This figure is shown in 18th century court dress. She is four inches high and width is six inches. Purchased in England by me at an antique fair in England. When purchased there were two flaws which are shown in the photos, left arm is missing from the elbow down, and on the back of the dress at the hem is a small chip. Figure is particularly unusual in that it has petticoats, legs and shoes under the main dress. The makers mark shown was used between 1764 and 1793.

Repairs noted are to hat. Hands, pipe& extended shoe. A chip to underside of rock outcropping& losses to ribbons throughout. Also has some minor fritting to base. BEAUTIFUL PORCELAIN FIGURINE GERMAN FRENCH CONTINENTAL 19TH CENTURY SHEPHERDESS
This is a charming and beautiful figurine of a porcelain shepherdess figurine. Bowed crook over her left shoulder, a lavender and pink butterfly on her right arm. Many years ago I purchased her in a French antique shop but she could as easily be German. The only mark I can see is what might be an impressed number 79 on the base. Her skirt is bright and colorful. The ruffle around her apron is aqua, the fading gold is probably from handling. Small chip, almost undetected, on the left sleeve ruffle, at the back. The bottom of the crook is gone as well as the tip of her finger connected to it. Barely noticeable unless you look closely. She is nearly 7 1/2 inches tall, adorable.

There were(and still are) several Porcelain Decorating Studios& Workshops in Germany, primarily in the Dresden/Meissen areas and to some appreciable extend in Bavaria, that engaged in decorating blanks purchased from nearby factories such as Meissen or KPM. Many of these artisans ... morealso worked at these major factories during the day so their techniques& methods were very similar, hence the quality of their items is parallel to that of the major makers. Many of these studios used distinct marks or symbols that are documented. Many of which were variations of Meissen's Crossed Swords trademark- please use our NAME SEARCH for Dresden and then Meissen to see several examples. However. Many of these studios used marks that were generic or very imaginative and if they were not prolific enough in their output, these marks were rarely documented, much less officially registered. This is most likely the case with these two lovely Porcelain Hand-painted Figurines. Pair Of Incredible 19Th Century German Porcelain Figurines. Volkstedt, Dresden?
For sale is a pair of outstanding immaculately detailed German porcelain figurines of a male and female. We could not find a mark on these pieces but they are so well painted they certainly came from one of the best German porcelain factories in the 19th century. We believe they could possibly be Volkstedt porcelain figures but we are uncertain. Each one is meticulously painted with the utmost attention to detail. For your consideration we offer this set of 4 antique Dressel& Kister porcelain figurines of the muses of Music. Poetry and the Arts. Each figurine is approximately 6 1/2" tall. Created in porcelain with a high-fire glaze, then low-fired a second time with gold gilding on their dresses, hair adornments and implements. The heavy gold gilt is worn in places as shown in the photos. The figurines are all highly detailed, each with a different style of flowing, draping dress and varying hairstyles. There are some condition issues as follows: Poetry- holding in one hand a writing tablet or book(part of which is broken. Missing) and a pen or quill(broken, missing) in the other hand. Painting- holds a palette in one hand and a paintbrush in the other. No damage noted. Music- holding a lyre or cithara(she is missing one toe) Sculpture- she ... moreholds a mallet and chisel in her hands but the sculpture. Probably a bust, is broken off and missing. Each one bears a blue underglaze Bishop's Staff mark in addition to hand-incised numbers"2627" the same on each piece. Dressel. Kister& Co. produced porcelain items from 1844-63 when Kister's son August W. took over and the"KPF" over crossed lines mark was used(this later became"KPM" In 1905, August Kister sold the factory to his son-in-law who introduced the crossed"S" mark. We believe this history would date these figurines to the 1844-63 time period making them somewhere between 150-170 years old. Payment is expected within 3 days of auction end. Antique Porcelain Match Holder. Wonderful Continental porcelain mother cat and kitten match holder/striker. This charming hand painted figurine dates from the mid to late 19th century. Marked only with an incised number“2970” we cannot identify a maker but feel that this piece was most likely made in Germany. The cat is dressed in a blue frock and carries a pack basket to hold the matches. The backside of the basket is grooved to provide a place to strike the match. 5 DAY'S ONLY at 395.00 for the Pair.REDUCED PRICE SALE: Rococo Baroque Style Antique figurines. Sold as a pair. Musicians with a Clarinet and a Lute. Also could be a Shepherd& Shepherdess, he with his dog and she with her sheep. I would guess these are probably from 1875-1900 period. Although they could be much earlier. I know the gold anchor Chelsea mark was used from 1756-1769, and was the most forged mark. I have seen a mark with this S type going through that was considered Chelsea. There are other marks with the S figure, but they seem to be going the other way, and contributed to other markers. I just do not know or have I been able to find out who for sure who made these. There are parts of them that look like so many different makers combined. If anyone has information or guesses, please inform me. I am selling them as just ... morea pair of unknown figurines. I put in pictures of the underneath bases for you to view. As they seem very old and these seem to be hard paste porcelain. I cannot find any other marks. These just both have a gold anchor mark with an S hand painted in gold on their backs. Please check out the pictures well for damages. I will list what I can see. Most areas with damage have had some kind of touch up restoration in the past. On the Lady: 2 broke off flowers& 1 pedal end. 2 broke off leaves& 2 tips. The end of her lute has been broken& re-glued also the end may have been longer with more to it. On the Man: 1 broke off flower. 4 broke off leaves& 3 broke off tips. I also think the short dogs leg was broken off. Woman is 7 3/4" tall. The base is 4 1/2" x 3 3/4" Man is 8 1/4" tall.
