This is an outstanding figurine designed by Dorotea Charol and produced by Rosenthal in Germany in the 1920´s(probably around 1922-1925) The figurine measures 29 cm in height and 14.5 cm in width. Outstanding appearance depicting the Russian dancer Adolp Bolm(1884-1951) Glazed in white and handpainted in black. Grey,red, green and yellow. Marks: Rosenthal Bavaria and impressed 79 1. On the top stand designer´s signature D Charol. Overall excellent condition. No repairs or damages. Only a very small and insignificant brown colored"chip" on one of the sleeves. I believe this was made in the manufacturing process.Please see attached photo. You hardly feel it with your fingertips so I would say this is very insignificant. Please read this description it is very important: this is a smaller figurine. Approximately 3 1/2 inches tall. I examined this piece thoroughly and it looks very nice except one tiny chip along the bottom where the cat sits on the table. I show this by pointing at it with a pen so please look at the pictures carefully. It is so small that I almost didn't see it. I have a suspicion that it could have been a factory flaw but I am unsure. That is the only flaw on this little kitten. As you would suspect it is top quality like Rosenthal always makes. Figure is approximately 9.25 inches tall and dates from that curious transitional design period between Art Nouveau and Art Deco. When excavations in Egypt led to a brief European romance with Egyptian-inspired design. While the figure appears nominally Egyptian, she still has flowing drapery more suggestive of the Jugenstil, while her sensual pose arguably foreshadows the more playful decadence of 1920s Deco.
