Antique Bisque Figurines BOY& GIRL by CARL SCHNEIDER Late 19th Century Germany Up for bid is a pair of antique German bisque porcelain figurines made by the Carl Schneider porcelain factory. One is a boy wearing a Swiss Alpine style hat and back pack. He carries a walking stick in one hand. The other is a little girl with a big bow in her hair. She has long braids down her back and she wears an old fashioned pinafore over her pleated skirt. The fronts of the figures were hand painted; the backs remain plain white. On each figure. The backs of the shoes are marked(impressed) One foot reads: GERMANY and includes the marking of a C with two arrows running through it. The word DEP follows. The other foot/shoe reads with a number code 10644 along with a number 15 and the word GERMANY. ... moreThe marks on theses pieces identify the maker as the Carl Schneider factory and I believe the format dates the pair from some time in the late 19th century(circa 1879 to 1886) Note: the word DEP indicates the piece was Registered. This practice did not start until the year 1879. Both pieces measures approx 8" high. The girl is slightly less and closer to 7 7/8" tall. Condition: Unfortunately the boy has a bit of damage. The upper end of his walking stick has broken off right were it extends from his hand. One has to look closely to notice this. And it is really more noticeable to touch(as it is a little sharper than normal) rather than to the eye. There are no other chips, and NO cracks. There are NO repairs. All the nice detail in bow and hat show no damage. There is obvious color wear, with much of the paint on front being worn off. Finally, when looking very closely at boy's nose one may notice a slight irregularity- this is from when the piece was made and is not damage or wear. Really a charming old pair for those who love Victorian porcelain figures. They may also hold interest to doll collectors as Schneider is a well known maker of dolls and piano ba

A lovers quarrel ... moredepicted at the time as if it were today and things havent changed in the world of courtship. Love never changes. Complex yet beautiful. If you carefully examine this composition you will see that the elegantly stern female has let the love letter of forgiveness gently fall to the ground. The gentleman's expression is that of desperation and bewilderment. His posture and the swaying of the hand. It almost brings a certain sentiment in one. Yet the ensemble is so gracefully hand executed that one knows these two are soul mates as this figural is in incredible condition for its age. The lace work is about 97% intact( I have taken several close photographs for your observation) The lacework which is thin actual cloth that was dipped in porcelain and baked was an invention from Dresden that spread throughout Germany. It is all hand painted and accented with real 22 K gold paint. Large and heavy. Measures 12" long x 9" deep and 10" tall. This item will require extra materials for safe delivery. Logo on the bottom. This listing features a delightful OLD bisque match holder. The paper you see in front of it is a note that was stuck inside that reads"match holder out of an old estate over 100 years old" I bought the match holder at an estate sale. Who was the author of the note(and she was old when she passed away, so, the piece is from the late 1800's) It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The basket has raised weave so it acts as a striker also. It stands 5 1/2" tall. On the bottom is an old piece of tape with some partial letters on it. As far as I know it is not marked as to maker. Antique Scheibe-Alsbach A. Kister Porcelain Cherub vases mark from late 1880s
These beautiful German statuettes were made in Scheibe-Alsbach in the A. Kister period. They are from the late 1800's. They are truly beautiful and you will not tire of looking at them. They are cherubs with vases on a pedestal. I do not know if they were originally meant to be vases or planters but either use would be a beautiful display. One of the figures is holding a bunch of grapes and the other a wine glass. This is Art Nouveau at it's best. The form of the plump cherubs and the grapes and leaves. And even the shape of the vases themselves are natural and from the Nouveau period. The bottoms are stamped KPM and feature the X beneath these letters. This mark was used for a short period beginning in 1887.There are the numbers 1301 and 9 indented on the bottom as well, perhaps where they were to inventory them at one point or to ... moreidentify them in some fashion at the point of manufacture. This set is 108 to 126 years old and in mint condition. The cherubs are 10 1/4" H. 6 3/4" W, and on a 4" base excluding legs. This set will be shipped FedEx insured at the purchase price or more. The back is marked on the back with Heubach GH in oval mark. The bust is made of bisque porcelain and has been finely hand painted. The fair haired woman with blue eyes and red lips has a a creamy white colored shawl draped over her head and around her shoulders. Her light blode hair is peaking out from under the shawl and there is a pine cone shaped brooch in sage green and light brown on the front of her shawl. The base is a pale yellow and brown shaped tree branches. The bust stands 13" in height. 6 3/4" in width, and is 5" in depth. Antique European Terracotta Sculpture of a Child lifting a frock full of flowers. This stunning piece of a cherubic child is in the style of Boizot. It is very detailed and was probably produced for the European tourist trade in the late 1800's during the time of the Grand Tours. It measures 6 7/8" high. Its base measures 2" X 2 1/2" and is approx. 2 1/2" deep. This piece is marked Boizot on the back and is in very good condition with a few very small chips on the base. Antique Late 1800's Staffordshire Temperance Double Sided Figure, Water/Gin
This is a wonderful antique piece by Staffordshire of England. The figure is 2 sided with water and gin titles. One side has a young well dressed man with a water canteen. The other side features the same man looking much older in tattered clothing. With a bottle of gin. The moral or message is quite clear, showing how alcohol will corrupt your life. There is no mark on the underside, but I am positive it was made in England for Staffordshire during the temperance movement. In 1876 the British Woman's Temperance Association was formed; and in 1884 the National Temperance Federation was founded. This statue is a result of that movement, and has great historical relevance. It presents in excellent condition despite its great age. There are flaws or defects to speak of. The only very minor thing to mention is a tiny bit of faded paint on ... morethe hand, and hat(photos 3,4, and 8) Otherwise, this figure looks great. It stands 9 and 3/4 in tall, and measures 10 and a 1/2 in all the way around the base. This piece is a great example of older English porcelain, the condition is great and it will display beautifully wherever it is placed. Collectors and enthusiasts of antique English figurines be thrilled to own a piece such and this one.
