Here's a BEAUTIFUL find from an estate purchase; this came from a very old household in central Kentucky. And was part of a large lot of antique and vintage pottery and porcelain which I'll be listing over the next few weeks. This beautiful young lady stands about 12 1/2" inches tall. Is dressed in winter clothes and has her pocket puppy wrapped in a warm cuff. I've seen this figural before(I've been collecting, hunting, trading and buying for over 30 years) and I can assure you that this is European production, German or Dutch origin, late 19th century to early 20th century and handpainted. Inside the bottom, there is a tag with an inscription in typical old-lady writing: As far back as I can remember this doll was at our house- before 1914. It belonged to my mother Martha(Maarke? Selling and trading antique items for over 30 years, so I know that the only perfect piece is one that just left the factory. And even then it probably has some original-manufacture flaws. I tend to call out flaws that other sellers might not notice or conveniently overlook, so when I tell you it's right, it's right. I want everybody happy. That being said. Here's what I'd note to condition: There is a tiny flake/chip in the back of the base, visible in detail photo. There are also a couple lines on girl's left cheek which are probably original manufacture marks, not damage. Otherwise. damn. it's over 100 years of perfect. Very old and very stylish. Antique Stamped German Conta Boehme? Porcelain Bisque Girl Piano Baby Figurine
~ Antique German Piano Baby ~ Marked"Germany" on base with symbol that resembles a shield This is a large antique German bisque piano baby figurine that is from a deceased relative's China cabinet from the New Orleans area. I am not an expert on all the manufacturers of that era. But I do know that the authentic ones are marked or stamped with a symbol, crest or shield. This one has a stamp and also reads"Germany" on the base, while many others listed on eBay do not. So this one is not"probably" the real deal. IT IS. It is in the style of Conta& Boehme( This baby girl has golden tresses and is holding a cup. The era of this doll falls between the 1850s-1900. She has great, even pastel coloring and big dark-blue intaglio eyes with defined highlights, rosy cheeks with a hint of dimples, and an open smiling ... moremouth with row of molded upper teeth; blonde hair with pointy curls framing the happy face; bare feet with upturned toes; she wears a yellow embossed dress with gold highlights with blue lace ruffle trim and fuchsia pink bows at the shoulders, and she is holding a lavender-pink-colored cup. She is in overall fair condition. Because she is missing a little part of her index finger on her right hand. There is also a hairline on underside of base that slightly and very faintly extends up the bottom sides of the figurine(about 1/2-1/4 inch, please see photo) The hair line is smooth. I do not have the tip of the finger. PLEASE SEE PICS of underside and edge of base. Neither the hair line or little chip next to it is visible for purposes of display. I do not know enough about antique porcelain to know if the missing finger can be repaired/replaced, but I am guessing that this is possible if someone chooses to do so. There are a few scattered specks of spotty discoloration from age, the only ones really noticeable are on her toes. This is a bisque piano baby figurine with girl in a bonnet sitting down to eat with her spoon and plate while her little dog tries to steal a bite. Approximately 6 1/4 inches tall. 4 inches wide, and 5 1/4 inches deep. No makers mark but it is most likely German in origin. In excellent condition with just a few missing gold beads. Paint wear to the gold beads and a small nick to the bottom of figure(not noticable) Displays beautifully. Gorgeous pair of Victorian handpainted busts of a little girl and boy. They date late 1800s and are beautifully handpainted and modeled. Measure approximately 11 and 10 1/2 inches high by 6 inches wide. They display wonderfully however the boy's hat has been broken and reglued to a section(see photos) and the girl is excellent besides a bit of paint wear on her chin and some nibbles to the very bottom base. Featured for Auction we have an Antique/ Vintage bisque figurine of a cherub on the side of a dragon headed sleigh. Wonderful coloring. Probably hand painted in pastel colors, with raised enamel. At least we believe this is bisque it may be porcelain. The little cherub is just adorable with his wavy hair, blue eyes, pink wings, and his arrow on his side. It measures about 8 1/2" long by 5" wide and 6" tall. We believe it is German in Origin, but are not certain as there are No Markings. It is in wonderful condition, with minor chipping on the flowers. Also we don't know if the dragons nose is supposed to blunt as it is or if it was pointy originally and broken off and repainted, as it is hard to tell. If you look at the fifth picture, that yellowish spot looks to be a something goopy and mostly came off, you could probably ... moreclean it up even better, its not bad, but wanted to mention it. For your consideration is an Antique Piano Baby Figurine made by Gebruder Heubach. A Piano baby is a figurine used to hold the edges down on the large shawls that would cover the piano. Doll sits 8 1/4" tall. The company. Which translates as Heubach Brothers, was established in 1843 by Georg Christoph and Phillipp Jakob Heubach when they purchased an existing porcelain factory in Lichte, Germany. The company began to manufacture items such as household pottery. Figurines and novelties, and in 1863 opened a local art school for sculptors. This training led to the company becoming renowned for its high quality and lifelike figurines, including their range of which are highly sought after by modern collectors. The company registered its‘sunburst’ mark in 1882. And by 1910 h ad begun to produce bisque dolls. Along with bisque doll heads ... morefor other manufacturers across Europe and the United States. This is an original matching pair of Victorian era. Hand-painted bisque porcelain busts of a girl and a cavalier boy that is circa 1880's- 90's. This pair of charming bisque figures are unmarked. Judging from the technique, colors, and quality of this small busts I would say that they could have easily have been made by the GEBRUDER HEUBACH factory in Germany, but you can be the judge of that yourself. These delicately modeled antique bisque figurines features a elegant Victorian girl in a beautiful bonnet and handsome young Cavalier. Both are done in a bright jewel like pastel colors. Antique German Bisque Porcelain Piano Baby Boy Doll Figurine Figure
This is an adorable little boy piano baby figurine manufactured in Germany. He is holding a clown or punch character in his hands. His clothing is blue and white and is accented with gold gilt raised dots and he is wearing a white and yellow hat. His skin has a peppered like effect to it. Approximately 7 3/4 inches wide and 5 inches tall. It is marked on the bottom Germany and what I believe to be the number 7485. In excellent condition. I don't see any chips. Cracks or restorations. Lovely miniature Bisque Piano Baby. Unmarked but most likely Heubach, common model, not room for standard mark. Only 2 3/4" long and 1 5/8" high. Condition is proof- just the way it was made. No chips, cracks etc. I have had it in my collection for 51 years.

Antique Rare German Bear and Man Rocking Fairing Porcelain Bisque Figurine
This amazing German Bisque Fairing measures about 2" tall x 2-1/8 wide. And about 1-1/2" deep. it actually rocks when you push on the ear or man. Its paint is quite worn as can be sen in the pictures. This is one of the neatest pieces of bisque i have ever come across. There is a thin are to the bisque below their legs which is quite fragile, but seems in fine condition.

Here is another absolutely terrific old Charleston. SC estate sale find! This is a late 19th century Rudolstadt, makers of fine antique German porcelain, bisque statue of a loving couple flirting on a loveseat. This pair have such animated detailed faces, typical of Victorian era work in Germany and the pale pink bisque is detailed in gold and turquoise blue, particularly on their clothing, as shown. This is a nice large figurine measuring 9 1/2 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches wide by 5 1/2 inches deep, front to back. The back is flat as shown and the piece is marked on the bottom with the old blue RW below the crown mark used from 1896- 1924. his marvelous old Rudolstadt porcelain bisque couple figurine is in wonderful condition, free of cracks or hairlines and with the hand painted detail completely intact. Here is a nice old Antique Bisque Piano Baby. Looks to be German but I'm not sure as I'm certainly not an expert. There are no markings on the bottom. It was one of many in my late mother's doll collection that she had for over 50 years and I know it was considered to be an antique when she bought it. She was a very knowledgeable and avid antique bisque doll collector. One of the legs was broken in the distant past and was repaired. Looks to be just a simple glue repair. Upon further inspection. Looks like some of the raised golden dots on the collar are gone too.most likely from handling through the years. I did not see this immediately and is not obvious. Also, tops of the toes on the right leg look flat/worn down from shelf wear through the years. Still, this piano baby certainly deserves a professional repair. Antique Porcelain Bisque Figurine of a victorian boy dressed in period clothing. Holding a flower leaning on a fence. Late 19th century- Early 20th century. Actual date is unknown believed to be of German origin. The boy is standing on a porcelain pedestal painted to look like marble. Ornate design painted on his clothing. Bright rosy cheeks, a fence with shrubs. The detailed gold gilt is rubbed off in some places through out the statue and he could could use a bath. I did not clean him. There is a very small chip on his left shoulder and there are no cracks. The overall condition of this piece is very good especially considering his age. Antique Victorian VOLKSTEDT LADY PUTTI Porcelain Plaque 19c German Bisque Figure This amazing high relief bisque plaque is attributed to Volkstedt German. Circa late 19th century. And features a classical maiden and her resting child. Made as part of a four seasons series. This one appears to be"A utumn" and has the mother and her child resting atop bales of hay. Excellent quality and attention to detail. One of the nicest plaques I have had the pleasure of listing. Approx. measurements of the plaque is 10 3/4" in diameter and approx. 2 1/2" deep. Excellent condition with minor age appropriate wear. The only thing I see that may be wrong, is the piec e she is holding in her hand. Is bit rough on bottom. From the photo of a similar one sold at Christie's(see note below) it looks like she is supposed to be holding a ... moresickle in her hand. It is not something you would not even notice unless you were looking at both plaques at same time. No other chips cracks or repairs. Colors are a bit brighter in photos than they are on actual plaque. Although unmarked. The plaque is definitely of German origin and most likely Volstedt. Bisque figures of babies were designed to help hold the shawl in place. They range in size from 6 to 18 inches. Most of the figures were made in Germany. They are in great shape with no chips. Cracks or repairs. If you look behind one of the girls hats, there is a mold flaw from manufacturing(small split line) which I've shown. No maker's mark. But attributed to Schafer& Vater. Hand painted bisque. With unpainted match-strike strip at bottom and opening in back to use as receptacle for burnt matches. Figure is a grotesquely comical monk in a brown robe. With a row of small holes across the sides and top of his bald head. Holes fit the smaller size wooden matches- shorter and narrower than big wooden kitchen matches- which were commonly used for lighting cigarettes. Pipes, cigars, candles, and oil lamps in the years before paper matchbooks were widely distributed. There are two or three ... morespots with small shrinkage lines from firing of the clay(see photo second from bottom) These are not cracks- they are from surface drying during the making of the piece; they do not go through to the inside of the hollow figure. And there is paint n these lines, showing that they were present when the paint was applied. Painted surfaces have some light soiling. Mostly on the bald head, and a few scattered tiny pinpoint dots of white wall paint on the figure's left side. Except as noted. This piece is in excellent condition, with no chips, breaks, or cracks, or repairs in the bisque, and with all paint entirely original. This is a gorgeous rare pair of porcelain bisque figures wearing beautiful silver gilt decorated clothing. They each measure 6 1/4 and 6 1/2 inches high and display very well however the gentleman has had his head reattached and also his hand is broken off and was reattached at his waist with part of the coat missing. The lady on the other hand is in overall good condition. She has two chipped fingers and there are some fleabites to her roses. This is a beautiful antique porcelain figure of three children surrounded by an ormolu cage. I think it was at one time on a lamp. The figure appears German made. Possibly by the A.E. Muller factory and the cage looks to be French. Measures 9 1/2 inches high by 8 inches wide and is in overall excellent condition. Ormolu has some patina wear throughout the years, porcelain figure excellent besides the top of the boy's instrument and his one thumb. Very minor on display.
