Right out of an estate, this salt glazed piece has a ... morefolksy, cobalt blue floral decoration on the front as well as an underscored number"2" above it. It was found in the western New York region and isn't signed by the pottery that produced it but there's a good chance it is a Lyons- Fisher or Burger jug. It has a gorgeous, dark, and earthy coloring along with that speckled, salt glazed surface. This piece is very well preserved and has only one small pitted type flaw near the handle. There are no other chips, not even around the spout or the bottom edge. The handle hasn't been broken and there aren't any cracks or hairlines anywhere on the piece. As a little bonus, we'll include the very nice, hand-carved wooden stopper it was found with. The jug measures about 13 1/2 inches high with a bottom diameter of 8 1/4 inches while the very top measures 2 1/4 inches across. As far as condition goes, this is the nicest piece of decorated stoneware we have ever found. It would make a super addition to any collection and also a top notch example to start one off! Up for bid is an Antique(19th Century) Staffordshire Gentleman Standing with Dog Figurine. The Figurine has a few very minor paint rubs. Attributed to age, however it is free of cracks, stains, fleabites, crazing and repairs and it measures approximately 5.5" H. The Figurine is a wonderful Staffordshire piece and one that you would be proud to add to your collection. Antique 19th Century MEISSEN- Je les Ramene" Porcelain Cupid Motto Figure Figurine Antique German Meissen“Je les Ramene” cupid motto figure. The heavy porcelain figurine of a cupid or putto is surrounded by and holding flowers with a quiver full of arrows. The fine hand-painted porcelain figurine has a raised oval plaque on the front with the French words“Je les Ramene” written in script. The figure is signed on the underside with the blue under-glaze crossed swords Meissen mark. The number 11 in red glaze and an impressed“F12” and“48” The Meissen figure has tiny chips to a few of the flowers and an approximate ½” crack on the pedestal that is holding flowers. The original garland that the cupid is holding is broken in several parts and only two pieces of it remain as seen in the photos below. A beautiful pair of late 19th century Antique Volkstedt Porcelain figurines. The figurines depicts a gentleman and his wife in matching floral attire with lace trim. The man measures 9" tall. The woman measures 8.25" tall. They are both marked with the blue underglaze Volkstedt double hayfork mark. c1890s. The figurines are in overall good condition for their age. The gentleman is missing the item in his hand and has some normal wear to his lace trim. The woman is also missing the item in her hand, a very shallow flee bite on top tip of her hat along with some missing lace throughout. Overall condition clearly shown in photos. One is a boy wearing a Swiss Alpine style hat and back pack. He carries a walking stick in one hand. The other is a little girl with a big bow in her hair. She has long braids down her back and she wears an old fashioned pinafore over her pleated skirt. The fronts of the figures were hand painted; the backs remain plain white. On each figure. The backs of the shoes are marked(impressed) One foot reads: GERMANY and includes the marking of a C with two arrows running through it. The word DEP follows. The other foot/shoe reads with a number code 10644 along with a number 15 and the word GERMANY. ... moreThe marks on theses pieces identify the maker as the Carl Schneider factory and I believe the format dates the pair from some time in the late 19th century(circa 1879 to 1886) Note: the word DEP indicates the piece was Registered. This practice did not start until the year 1879. Both pieces measures approx 8" high. The girl is slightly less and closer to 7 7/8" tall. Condition: Unfortunately the boy has a bit of damage. The upper end of his walking stick has broken off right were it extends from his hand. One has to look closely to notice this. And it is really more noticeable to touch(as it is a little sharper than normal) rather than to the eye. There are no other chips, and NO cracks. There are NO repairs. All the nice detail in bow and hat show no damage. There is obvious color wear, with much of the paint on front being worn off. Finally, when looking very closely at boy's nose one may notice a slight irregularity- this is from when the piece was made and is not damage or wear. A lovers quarrel ... moredepicted at the time as if it were today and things havent changed in the world of courtship. Love never changes. Complex yet beautiful. If you carefully examine this composition you will see that the elegantly stern female has let the love letter of forgiveness gently fall to the ground. The gentleman's expression is that of desperation and bewilderment. His posture and the swaying of the hand. It almost brings a certain sentiment in one. Yet the ensemble is so gracefully hand executed that one knows these two are soul mates as this figural is in incredible condition for its age. The lace work is about 97% intact( I have taken several close photographs for your observation) The lacework which is thin actual cloth that was dipped in porcelain and baked was an invention from Dresden that spread throughout Germany. Colors still vibrant on this unique flowered vined tree. 90% of the gold paint is still present! Many of the flowers have chips. 5 petals missing from under the cups. Center cup is cracked. So much detail still in place. You can see the exquisite detail and coloring of the angels hands, her hair, the red coloring in her lips. So much detail in the flowers and trees. It's gorgeous. A masterpiece. Candlestick number two, violin angel boy description. Also beautifully hand painted with gold, green, pink, yellow, brown, and black colors. This is a late 19th century Rudolstadt, makers of fine antique German porcelain, bisque statue of a loving couple flirting on a loveseat. This pair have such animated detailed faces, typical of Victorian era work in Germany and the pale pink bisque is detailed in gold and turquoise blue, particularly on their clothing, as shown. This is a nice large figurine measuring 9 1/2 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches wide by 5 1/2 inches deep, front to back. The paper you see in front of it is a note that was stuck inside that reads"match holder out of an old estate over 100 years old" I bought the match holder at an estate sale. Who was the author of the note(and she was old when she passed away, so, the piece is from the late 1800's) It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The basket has raised weave so it acts as a striker also. It stands 5 1/2" tall. On the bottom is an old piece of tape with some partial letters on it. As far as I know it is not marked as to maker. 19th Century Antique Matching Numbered Pair Staffordshire Porcelain Spaniel Dogs
Here is a perfectly wonderful old numbered and trade marked matching pair of Staffordshire Spaniels that date back to the late 1800's. The British royalty loved their Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and they became a revered subject for the porcelain pottery makers of 19th Century England. The pair came down with my Great-Grandparents to Bartow. Florida in 1910 and have been in the family since. I only say this because it probably makes them a"one owner" provenance. The mark on the base is that of"Old Staffordshire Ware England" And both pieces are numbered but only one still legibly. They appear to be numbered 43 and 17 and of course, the numbers are under the original glaze. In 1892 Parliament decreed that English pottery must say"England" on the bottom. Twenty years later the mark had to read"Made ... morein England" The Spaniels stand 5 1/2" high and the base is four inches long by 2 3/4" at the widest part. The pair is in absolutely perfect condition. With no cracking, chipping or crazing whatsoever. I photographed them in sunlight and with flash to try and bring out the lovely rose gold paint under the glaze. The locket and collar are probably 24 carat solid gold paint. I will want to send these insured for at least the value of the winning bid. If you would like. I can insure them for the appraised value of five hundred U.S.D. This painted bisque figurine is 22 inches tall and is elaborately adorned with a multi-color outfit including a cape. The man is dressed in 17 th century fashion and we are not certain but we believe it is Faust. He is carrying a sword. The figurine has a lot of similarities to Old Paris porcelain. The figurine has an impressed 284 and L&M on the bottom. We have not identified the maker though we have identified several pieces marked L&M. We date the piece circa 1860. Rare Antique Samson Porcelain Pallas Athena Sculpture 19th century
You are viewing a rare porcelain 19th century figure of the Greek"Pallas Athena" with helmet and Medusa shield made by Samson. Paris. The sculpture stands at 6 inches in height and the Athena, plumed helmet and Gorgon shield is beautifully rendered in fine detail with lustorus gold accents. There is a professional restoration on her fingers holding the shield(see photo# 3) but otherwise the sculpture is intact. Fine Pair Large Antique Early 19th C. German Statues_Priced to Sell Estate Find! This is a fine pair of antique Germany statues that came from a old Fort Mitchell. Kentucky estate sale. These are a exceptional pair of early 19th C. figurines that are definitely worthy of your attention. The attention to detail, and the early colors make this pair a sharp find. The antique German statue of the woman measures approximately 9.5' and she does have a few minor conditions issues of which to note. Under her bonnet there is a about a.5' chip, on the base of the statue there is.25' Please see photo's. Where her hands meet holding the grapes, there is small firing flaw. Also, some minor gold loss on the upper and lower rim. There are no cracks, repairs. Considering the age of the piece, she is in fine condition(In my opinion, this statue ... moredates from the turn of the 19th C. around 1800. Possibly could be late 18th C. The antique German statue of the man measures approximately 9.75' tall, and he also has some conditions issues of which to note. There is a.25' chip on the base, his right hand has a firing flaw. The receptacle has a.75' chip, along with a few chips to the rim(Please see photo's. There is also a gold piece on the base near the pink flower petal, that is missing a section that measures about 1.75' Also, some minor gold loss to the upper and lower rim(Again, in my opinion this statue dates from the turn of the 19th C. around 1800. Possibly, could be late 18th C. There are no cracks, or repairs. These wonderful 19th C. statues are not easy to find in any condition, and they are certainly ready for a professional restoration. Offered for sale is a delightful little miniature figurine marked Chelsea Samson. This exquisite piece carries the gold anchor mark on the top of the base at the rear. The gold anchor mark is between the darling yellow and black spotted cat's tail and the top of the green plinth it is seated on. It measures approximately 2. 1/2" tall with a 2" x 1 1/4" oval base. This piece was made in and marked in gold GERMANY on the underside. The gold anchor mark was typically used by the Chelsea factory in England in the 18th Century. Edme Samson and his son. Emile, built their business by making copies of items from the famous factories of the day such Chelsea, Derby, Meissen and Sevres, French faience and even Chinese wares. Antique French Dragoon Revolutionary War Soldier Figurine Samson Vienna 19th c
This is an exquisitely done porcelain figurine of an 18 th century French Dragoon Soldier. The front of the piece is incised with Fleurus 1792. Which leads us to believe he would have been in the French Revolutionary War. The piece is 11 ½ inches tall. The overall detail of this statue is amazing. Including the straps for the sword and the bag to the spur on his boot. The back of the piece is inscribed as well and it looks to read Bisson Rousard, which may have been the artist. The piece has a beehive mark and could possibly be Royal Vienna though we are leaning more toward Samson. Samson did top quality imitations of work by other firms and often copied their marks. This is excellent quality and is quite heavy weighing 2 lbs and 12 ounces. We believe this dates to the late 19 th century. The condition is very good. We believe there ... morewas a feather on the top of the hat at one time that is no longer there and it has been smoothed down. There is a firing crack on the edge on the bottom that looks like it was filled in long ago. This piece has been examined completely and there is no damage. The figurine is marked with a"Crown N" for Capadimonte. The other mark on bottom is unreadable but I took picture of it anyway. Porcelain is excellent condition for it's age, some minor paint wear, but nothing serious. Very old, Colorful, Heavy.
