19th Century Antique Matching Numbered Pair Staffordshire Porcelain Spaniel Dogs
Here is a perfectly wonderful old numbered and trade marked matching pair of Staffordshire Spaniels that date back to the late 1800's. The British royalty loved their Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and they became a revered subject for the porcelain pottery makers of 19th Century England. The pair came down with my Great-Grandparents to Bartow. Florida in 1910 and have been in the family since. I only say this because it probably makes them a"one owner" provenance. The mark on the base is that of"Old Staffordshire Ware England" And both pieces are numbered but only one still legibly. They appear to be numbered 43 and 17 and of course, the numbers are under the original glaze. In 1892 Parliament decreed that English pottery must say"England" on the bottom. Twenty years later the mark had to read"Made ... morein England" The Spaniels stand 5 1/2" high and the base is four inches long by 2 3/4" at the widest part. The pair is in absolutely perfect condition. With no cracking, chipping or crazing whatsoever. I photographed them in sunlight and with flash to try and bring out the lovely rose gold paint under the glaze. The locket and collar are probably 24 carat solid gold paint. I will want to send these insured for at least the value of the winning bid. If you would like. I can insure them for the appraised value of five hundred U.S.D. A true pair and the dog's positions reverse such that they are facing each other when the figurines are placed side-by-side(pic#1) Appear hand-modelled and not from molds and please note how one of the dogs is a little shorter and fatter than the other as can be seen especially in pic#4. Antique 19th c Staffordshire Greyhound Wippet dog rabbit hare figure figurine
STAFFORDSHIRE WHIPPET DOG& RABBIT(for restoration) This week I am selling an English Staffordshire Whippet dog with a broken hare or rabbit in his mouth. Standing with his four legs on an oval round reddish coloured base. Nice speckled reddish colour of its fur. And the rabbit is speckled brown. It has a dark brown collar around the neck and its tail's end is wrapped around his left hind leg. Some'coleslaw' patches are placed on the base and three stump. Half around the base is a gilt line. Size: Height: 16 cm(6.2 inches) Width: 14 cm(5.5 inches) Condition: Unfortunately half of the rabbit is missing and at its left hind leg there is a hairline crack at two places. Antique Early American Chalkware Staffordshire dog 19th Original paint Folk Art
This chalkware dog is 7 ¼ inches tall and 6 1/2 inches wide. The dog likely comes from Pennsylvania and is from the second half of the 19 th century. It has its original black. Red and green paint. This would have been the American Folk Art version of an English Staffordshire dog. The figure is made of plaster of paris. There is an old repair on the bottom of the piece as well as a chip on the bottom.

FLAT BACK HIGHLANDERS Description: A wonderful mid 19th century English Staffordshire pottery boy& girl Highlanders with each a flag in their hands. They both wear cobalt blue jackets. Hats and colourful tartans. Accents of'green orange coleslaw' can be found on the base and next to their feet. The base is oval shaped with a gilt line drawn half way around it. Size: Height: 27 cm(10.6 inch) Width: 17 cm(6.7 inch) Condition: In excellent condition with soft crackles to the glaze as to be expected for its age and a minimum of paint loss and rubbing of the gilt accents. This is a pair of very old spaniel dog figurines which have been in my personal collection for many years(smoke and pet free home) They stand 11 inches tall with 5" by 8" long bases and each weighs well over 5 pounds. Both have a manufactures firing hole in the bottom and under one of the legs. Very nice looking pair of dogs. I am not sure if the glaze is called Bennington or Rockingham. Staffordshire girl on goat figurine from England. This style of figurine was popular in the mid 19th century. Many believe the girl was to represent the Queen's daughter. The figurine was broken at some point in history and repaired. Which is visible at her waist. Please see the closeup photos showing the break. She is in otherwise good shape. And the horns are intact. There is typical crazing due to age. Please examine the photos carefully, and click to zoom in. She's lovely, in spite of her flaws. Antique Victorian Staffordshire Royal Child In Kilt Sheep Lamb Figurine 19th C.
Staffordshire has a distinct look and this piece certainly fits in. From what information I've come across. This piece was made sometime between 1850-1899. It shows a Royal child standing. In what I consider a Scottish outfit, in front of his sheep. There are no marks on the bottom except a dab of red paint. I believe it may have originally come with a second piece showing a Royal girl with her sheep. This figurine shows its age with some crazing and some paint loss to his eye and kilt. It stands about 8 1/2 in. tall and is about 5 1/2 in. at its widest. There is a small hole in the back which allowed for the moisture to escape when firing. The sheep's coat is covered with a granulated ceramic. I do see a little wear to the top of the boys hat and a very slight hairline crack on the underside of the base. As far as I can tell. Everything ... moreis in original condition, with no chips or repairs. He's been on my mantle for awhile and is looking for a new home. Pair 19th C Antique Staffordshire English Flatback Hunter on Horse Figurines
This is a very nice pair of white. Flatback, Staffordshire figurines(one faces left and one right) They are hunters on horseback with a deer slung across the saddle in front of them. They are hand painted with gold on their clothing and outlining the deer and details of the horses. The faces. Hands, and legs of the hunters are"flesh-colored" Black is used for the hunters' hair, their shoes, and the muzzles and hooves of the horses. There are green bushes or clumps of grass beneath the horses. These are in good condition and don't seem to have been repaired. Except for some crazing and what appear to be cracks in the glaze from manufacture. They have no visible cracks or damage except on the right facing figurine. That figurine has a chip missing from the top of the horse's head, which shortens one ear. It is noticeable ... moreon close inspection; see the pictures. That figurine also has an oddity in the glaze at the crook of his right elbow, which looks to be from manufacture(see photo) The figurines stand approximately 14 1/4" high and measure about ten inches in length between the horse's nose and tail. They weigh about eight pounds apiece.

This spill vase measures 5.5 inches high x 4.75 inches long x 1.85 inches deep. Authentic and not a reproduction circa 1840-1850. Holds water perfectly for a few flowers. Antique 19th Century Staffordshire Figure girl seated on a barrel with dog This Staffordshire figure is mid 19th Century and I believe. Although unmarked, was made by Dodson Pottery. The girl is holding a tambourine and is seated on a barrel with a rust and white dog at her side. It measures 9 inches in height and 5¾ inches in length. The colors are very vibrant and the condition is very good with a couple of very minor rubs to paint and no chips, cracks or repairs. This would be a nice addition to any collection.
