Antique Empire Dresser, mahogany, mirror veneer, 19th century, good condition
An Empire Bureau. Or chest of drawers made of mahogany in the early half of the 19th century. This is a grand piece of furniture that would look great in any large space-hallway, large master bedroom, dining room. We had it in our hallway in a 1803 house in upstate New York. There are four large drawers and three small drawers at the top. The largest drawer is directly below the three small top drawers, consistent with the style. Drawer fronts are a mirror veneer, rest of the wood is solid. The drawer pulls are brass. This is a solid, well-built dresser. It is heavy. It stands about 52 inches high, is about 47 inches wide and about 21 inches deep. The drawers are about 16 inches deep. The finish is in relatively good condition; there are scrapes, scuffs, nicks and scratches but it would not necessarily need to be refinished. I believe that the dresser is from the early half of the 19th century because the nails used on the back boards are type I cut(photographed) The back boards are soft wood with a rich brown patina on the back, the part exposed to air. Antique Mahogany Hand Carved Step Back Chest Of Drawers New England
Antique 1830's mahogany veneer step back chest of drawers. It comes from New England and has the original finish. The brasses are not original. But are from the 1800's. It stands 49" high, 42" across, 17" deep. The two small drawers on top are 3 1/2" high. They have round cookie corners. Please see picture 4 showing age separation) The four large drawers are 6" high, also with cookie corners. There are two brasses and a brass keyhole on each drawer. The drawers are dovetailed. Circa early 1900 French Louis Philippe burl walnut veneer commode with marble surface top, 3 sided marble splash and fully hinged drop down top, when closed conceals the marble. Has inset single pane. Flat glass mirror on the underside of the top. The commode has four full width drawers with wood keyholes. Commode is complete with one working key. Which works as a pull to help open the drawers. Original key is available but broken. Owner purchased in 1984 in Paris. France. Size is 31" wide, 18" deep, 35 ½" tall. Very hard to describe and categorize but we have attempted. A very beautiful chest of drawers with a six paned window top plus mirror and is a true antique! Chest of Drawers Bottom: Burled Cherry Veneer Drawer Fronts Handcut dovetailed drawers with chamfered panel poplar bottoms and interior woods. Step back center section. 3 burled cherry veneer drawer fronts with hand cut dovetailed drawers with chamfered panel poplar bottoms. 4 Cherry turned legs at the base– replaced. Half turn columns on the front. Cherry Knobs– replaced. Some minor restoration to the veneer front. All Cherry Sides. Case 41 inches wide. Top 43 inches wide and 21 ½ inches deep and 46 inches tall. Top: 2 Mortise and ... moretenon doors. 6 individual paned windows with original glass, cherry sides, center swivel mirror(older replaced mirror) with cherry crown moulding with burled cherry venner over it on the top. Cubby holes on the interior; total of four small hand cut dovetailed drawers. The top is not flush with the back wall. Steps out 2 ½ inches from the wall. Centered on the center section. Mortise and tenon jointed through the top and does not come off. 8 inches deep case width. 36 inches, crown moulding with 41 inches wide by 10 ½ deep and height is 32 inches. Overall Dimensions: 41 inches wide at its crown by 21 ½ inches at its deepest. Overall Height 78 ½ inches. It has been totally restored and everything is in good working order. Antique Victorian Drop Center Marble Top Dresser w/ Pivot Mirror
A very cute little dresser brought up from Georgia to the Asheville NC area 20 years ago. Judging from the style and the candle shelves on either side. Late 19th Century. Features the original marble. Clean and unbroken, the original antique mirror, all of the original drawer pulls of figured brass, and the original casters. Original finish- has not been stripped. Stands about 80 inches high and 16 inches deep- it is a smallish piece and stands nice and shallow out from the wall- perfect for a small guest room or an accent to a large room. I'm not certain. But the wood is probably walnut. The five drawers all work just fine and have unusual'round peg dovetailing' construction(shown above in a detail shot) The hardware is ALL original EXCEPT that the bolts that originally held the pivoting mirror have been replaced by heavy screws. ... moreWhich doesn't affect the look of it too much(and they could be fairly inexpensively restored with something vintage) The mirror section is removable to facilitate moving. A very handsome piece. With minimal scratches and wear. The hand-carved details are a bit on the rustic side and not terribly fussy or'polished' workmanship. Almost folk arty. It is a solid piece and nice and usable still, with a decidedly'country' feel to it. The piece is actually quite light once the drawers are pulled out for transport and is not too heavy to lift at all. I love the carved details and personality of the thing! I do not want to ship it if I can help it- would prefer local sale. We live in Mars Hill. North Carolina, just 20 minutes from Asheville and easy directions to find us. I can help move it as well. A very special piece! This flame mahogany American Empire-style dresser. Estimated to have been made in the 1850s, is gorgeous. The dresser's mirror-image crotch-grain mahogany is absolutely beautiful. A hallmark of quality in fine furniture construction. The curved front is lovely. As are the carved backboard and skirt. The finish on the front. Sides, and top is glossy; the back is unfinished. All six drawers work perfectly and are outfitted with mushroom-turned wooden knobs. 1870's-1880's Victorian Hand Carved Boot-Jack First one of these we've had the pleasure of offering! This is a late 19th Century(1870-80's) walnut boot-jack. Possibly English in origin from it's design. The boot-jack was a very necessary item for a fine gentleman to remove his own boots when a servant wasn't available. This boot-jack has ring turned posts, with cut notches and stylized lily designed tops and bases, really pretty. The plinth(base) has a boot recess with somewhat chewed looking tips. The other end is for the other foot to rest on. It has a four leaf clover carved in the center, and it appears to be one of another wood, maybe hickory or chestnut. Guess what. Got it home and she stuck her nose up at it. You know it does not pay to try and but things they ask for you almost always get the same results. The Dresser measures 39 inches wide. 19 inches Deep and stands 31 inches tall to the top of the side drawers. The dresser has hand carved Rosewood handles. there is a rosewood veneer on the front of the drawers. the Dresser does need a good cleaning. In the pictures there is no marble. Gorgeous Original Vintage Renaissance Revival dresser late 1800's one-family
Gorgeous Original Vintage Renaissance Revival dresser late 1800's one-family Great-Grandma's dresser! From what we can learn. This is a Victorian Renaissance Revival substyle, informally appraised at $3,000, probably worth way more. We do know that this piece is all original, right down to its porcelain casters and ornate drawer-pulls. It hasn't been painted or stripped or refinished. Grandma got it from HER mother-in-law and kept it in her 8-bedroom house until she moved into an apartment. It then went home with my father and we had it in our home for the next generation and then some. Very loved and very seldom even used. What this dresser has seen! Grandma was a flapper(even owned a dance hall! and that likely explains the apparent damage-a possible cigarette burn on one of the little shelves. Nobody has smoked around it for ... moreabsolutely years. Actually we never even saw her smoke. We were told by the appraiser that the small shelves were once used for candles-before they had electricity. The wood is gorgeous. From the raised burl panels to the dark grained(probably walnut) sections. The marble tops are amazingly beautiful, as we've seen these in other dressers with chips and cracks, and these are HEAVY. And look at that crown on the top! Look at the hardware! We've appreciated the fact that. Although it is tall(just under 7 1/2 ft. to the top of her crown) the actual footprint of this dresser is fairly small at 20" X45" It seems to go everywhere. This piece was built with astonishing detail. It's possible that it could be actually pre 1900, but again, we don't know. Not antique dealers, just selling a family heirloom. You sure couldn't get anything new with this workmanship at this price. Please look carefully at the pictures and ask questions and for more pictures if needed. The shield shaped mirror alone is 23" x 14 1/2" It has line inlay, three feathers on each corner, and a conch shell in the center. There are three drawers. Victorian Pivot Mirror Marble Top Dresser. Hidden Drawer. This may look like your ordinary Victorian Dresser but it has a hidden drawer. The very bottom space is a full size drawer. Four drawer Marble top Dresser with beautiful pivot mirror and storage drawers on top. This piece has amazing hand carved handles, a wonderful crest top and the original marble. It is in excellent condition. The marble beautiful with lovely marbling. The mirror and drawers are one piece that lifts off of the marble and makes moving it much easier. Both pieces are made of Black Walnut. This is a lovely piece that will add a wonderful taste of the Victorian era to any home. Th is dresser can be seen at Comstock Ferre in Wethersfield. CT. They are located at 263 Main St. Wethersfield CT 06109. They have a new antique section located in the yellow painted brick building ... moreto the front and side of the main building. Antique RARE American Chestnut Wood Eastlake Dresser Victorian
This is an Eastlake chest made of rare extinct American Chestnut. It would benefit from refinishing. I've owned it 25 years as-is. Some of the hardware is original. Some is not. Made about 1880- 1890. American Chestnut is it's key feature. This is not oak, it is extinct American Chestnut. measures: 42" wide x 20" deep on top and 32" tall. heavy. Solid wood. Antique American Eastlake Dresser & Mirror pink Granite Top
This is an authentic Eastlake dresser with it's original hardware and mirror- the mirror isn't in the picture. It has it's original hardware. The top is pink granite and not attached. I believe it was a replacement top. Made in USA in the 1890s or so. Seems to be made of maple and stained a walnut finish. I've owned it 25 years. Minor scuffs but that is it's history and character as a an antique that has been used by generations. It's as I purchased it. It is well worth $250. Measures: 40" wide x 30" tall x 18" deep. Antique Three Drawer Dresser: Languedoc Marble Top w/ Grape Leaf Drawer Pulls.
This is an amazing three drawer dresser. Complete with marble top, grape leaf drawer pulls, and rolling casters for feet. The marble top is a languedoc stone that is found in France. It measures 48" x 22" x 1" The top is currently not mounted. This is how I discovered the piece and instead of re-mounting the marble. I would rather leave that option to the next owner. The body is made out of what I believe to be walnut. It measures 33 1/2" tall x 37 1/4" wide x 16 1/4" deep. The drawers are outlined in molding and have working locks(no key avail) Each drawer is garnished with two wooden grape/grape leaf drawer pulls. There are no obvious maker marks on the dresser. There are minor blemishes and scratches expected with the age of this piece. I am listing as a local pickup. I will assist buyers whom provide their ... moreown shipping method/company.
