A Pair: Small Antique/Vintage Child's Pre-School Chairs by American Seating Co.
A really cute little pair of Pre-School Kinder-chairs. They are in definite need of restoration. But should be saved as is. The back slats have the American Chair Company imprint in very legible condition. One of the chairs has worn paint on it which needs to be stripped. The other chair has a fair amount of de-lamination of the plywood on all 3 wood pieces. I have very effectively reclaimed this type of damage using fiberglass resin. It fills the void. Willett exhibited its furniture at the Chicago Furniture Show in the late 1930s and 1940s. Two very old and very unique Siegel Cooper Co. Lion head chairs from"The Big Store" which is what the Siegel& Cooper Co. Department Store was called back in the very very early 1900's. It looks like it is stamped 1908 or 1909 in red under the name on the paper tag that is still under one of them. One chair has arms and one does not have arms. The seat on the chair without arms is split but still connected to the other piece by the original leather but not to the bottom of the chair as clearly shown in the picture. the seats look to have the old straw type filling in them as you can see in one of the pictures. The back on the one with arms has some small spots where the wood is damaged clearly shown in pictures. This set is in very good condition with no missing or broken pieces. It does have some normal wear due to age. But was used very rarely in a vacation condominium in SW Florida. The cane on the seat backs are near perfect- only one seems to have a small break in the cane(see photo close up) in about a 1 inch area which can be repaired without great cost. The table top finish is still beautiful, like new, without scratches and comes with a new- unused(in original box) formal table pad. The chairs and table base are in very good condition also. A couple of the wood joints could be tightened up(see photo) but this is a very solid and elegantly made set. You will find scratches. Dents, nicks, marks and scuffs proper for its age. The table has a heat stain. The fabric on the chairs is not the original. I replaced the original tapestry when I bought it because it was in bad shape. There are no cracks or broken chairs. I think the table and chairs are made of cherry wood, but I am not 100% sure. This listing includes: 4) Wooden Dining Chairs with Black Seat Cushions made by the Northwest Chair Co. in Tacoma. WA sometime between 1900 and 1950. This particular set belonged to the equivalent of my great grandparents, so I know they were manufactured before 1950, however I do not know how to date them any more specifically. They all 4 seem sturdy and hold weight well. Cosmetically. All 4 chairs show signs of aging a wear. A thorough cleaning and oiling would probably do wonders for the wood. I'm not sure if anything could be done to restore the seat cushions, but it appears you could probably replace and/or recover them. This set consists of two arm chairs and four side chairs. They chairs are unmarked. But I believe they are the Carolina Chippendale chairs, made by Hickory Chair Company from their James River collection. They are probably 30 to 40 years old and have minor scuffs, consistent with age. The upholstery has a few small stains, but no tears in the fabric, and they could be used as-is. These chairs were made for many years and can still be found on the company's web site.

Doing that expands the lower base and enables the 2"leafs" to be well supported! This table pulls out to be a whopping 7' 5" long. That is. It's designed to do that. I'm missing the 2 inserts that would enable that extension. Those two inserts could be found by the new buyer. One of the brass caps on one of the 6 feet of the table is missing.
